New Reebok stuff is GARBAGE!

Recommended Posts

I've always been a huge fan of JOFA stuff and even after Reebok took over, it seemed to mostly be a name/graphics change. Well the 2009 Reebok stuff is absolute crap compared to the old JOFA gear.

I'm about to return my second pair of 8K shoulder pads becuase of Reebok's horrendous quality control. The first pair the front chest plate foam panel was cut completely crooked so that one side was substantially higher than the other. It fit weird (not to mention looked stupid). The next pair, well, as you can see from my picture, they didn't quite get the strap that anchors the floating front plate sewn all the way.

My LHS guru tried to tell me the new stuff wasn't half as good as the old stuff and that I should buy the CCM pads but I didn't listen and now I regret it. I'll see if I can find some old stuff Reebok/JOFA stuff on the net somewhere.

Stay away from the new Reebok equipment!

Ironically enough, I had to return a pair because the shoulder cap wasn't sewn down properly.

Where did you go? Sportsworld USA? Roddy usually knows what he's talking about. I picked up a pair of Sherwood 5030 shins for $13 on clearance haha..Sometimes they have decent close outs. A couple years ago I was looking for elbow pads and I was checking out some $30-40 NBH/RBK stuff and they said the stuff they had on clearance was better. So I picked up a pair of Jofa 9025s for $15 and they've worked out alright for me. They never slide off my elbows and allow for some flexibility as well. I messed w/the straps a bit so they'd fit around my arms a little better. I'll probably wear these for 4-5 more years.

Had the same front strap tear loose after a pretty good hit. The fix? Super Glue. Worked fine and never had another problem. Glue it back on and you'll be fine.

+1 on how reebok gear is shit durability wise. Half of their high end protective gear has broke this season. If another parent comes in with 10k shouldies or 6k shins i'll probably snap. If they don't get their act together in 2011... might as well say bye bye to rbk/ccm, with bauer and warrior miles ahead, and easton's new gear is pretty good too.

What's wrong with them? I recently tried a bunch of shins and ended up buying the 10ks, they felt amazing. I look forward to breaking them in tonight in a game.

When did Reebok make the move from Aerobic workout shoes to Hockey...........

Sorry, I just could never see me buying anything from reebok, because i simply hate the company and associate it with a Richard Simmons workout video

Speaking from the other side, I've been rocking new 6K shouldies for a month without issues. As for Fawn111, come out from under that rock a little more often.

i tried on a pair of 10ks and i was wondering if it would be easy to tear that front strap, guess that answered my question, they fit so nice though.

LOL - I've got to wonder why you were watching a Richard Simmons workout video, though.

Yeah, I could, but super-gluing brand new equipment becuase it's already falling apart somehow seems wrong. <_<

I agree 100% but needed to use them so I did what I could. It was frustrating to say the least.

In mass production anything can happen. My friend swears by his 9k gloves. He loves his white 9ks because they lasted for ever, but when he had the black 9ks(skates) they broke down quick. Shit happens in large quantities. To try and say an entire company is garbage based one production and bad experience makes very little sense.

I was looking at picking up some new RBK shins/elbows (my old gear was jofa or ccm) and will have to keep an eye out. What series of pads is this, are the higher end 8k/10k better build and overall quality?

Was this stuff from when the product was 1st introduced to the market? This is the reason I never buy a first gen anything

Is the consensus that this stuff is not any good?

I'm planning on picking up some 9k pants and 6k shins, but the 4k shoulders and elbows looked and felt interesting.
