Hockey parents sue youth league for $25K after sons are cut

Recommended Posts

Completely asinine on the parents part, imagine what those kids are going to be like when they grow up?

That being said, I'm not surprised this happened given today's society. I'm actually kind of surprised it took this long to happen.

Midget junior A

Isn't all canada except quebec have AAA as the highest level and not A?

If that's true, this kids got cut from basically glorified house. Wow.... Your kids weren't going to go pro or college anyways, why do this? Oh, to try to get some of your money back on the fact that your kid isn't going pro.

These parents (also Vito? What the hell kinda name is that?!?) are ridiculous. I hope they dont have anymore children.

The GTHL is infamous for all sorts of unbelievable behaviour like the "tampering" the two coaches were accused of. Besides, if you haven't had a sniff before midget level, chances are you aren't going to go to the big leagues so lighten up.

And this is exactly why the week before, during and after tryouts are the worst weeks of my life. No for breaking some kids hearts, but for dealing with parents who just don't get it.

Of, and BTW, there goes the lawsuit after this statement!

"Valela's son quickly rescinded his vow of never playing again and signed with another team in the league."

Hahahaha! Douche...

Imagine being those kids and having to deal with those parents and everyone on your new team or school knows you're parents are complete douches... damn.

Just heard this on the Dan Patrick Show and once again, hockey makes news for all of the wrong reasons. Can't say I am surprised, but, would've expected this story to come out of the Sunbelt states, not Toronto.

Ya really, this sounds like something that would come out of Dallas to be honest.

Well Junior A is Tier II junior hockey in Canada, except for in Quebec where it's called Junior AAA.

So if it's junior A then that's actually a pretty high level of hockey, but I'm guessing it's supposed to be "minor midget" in which case A is not a high level.

Usually I would say only in America but now I have to say only in North America. I hope the judge laughs his/her ass off as this case gets thrown out.

I'm not a lawyer. hell, I don't even play one on TV but it seems to me that these parents don't have a leg to stand on. once this crap get thrown out I hope the judge makes the plaintiffs pay the defendants legal fees.

Imagine the looks this kid'll get if he tries coming back. Damaged goods is an understatement. And I don't think he really even tried to push the lawsuit. Just mommy and daddy...

True story. This reminds me of that Nightline interview that was done with Diddy a few weeks back:

http://www.usatoday.com/communities/driveo...60000-maybach/1

I mean when parents go overboard to give kids more than an opportunity or they detour struggle and try to give their kids the Cliff's Notes version of life, it makes them soft as balls. I mean suing an hockey program for your kid getting cut and buying them a $360K automobile are essentially the same things in a sense that it shows your kids that you can have whatever you want because I worked hard, not cause you did.

Either legal fees aren't expensive enough these days or Vito Valela and David Longo have way too much money and time on their hands because there is no way their claims are going to fly in court.

I was thinking they were lawyers.
