Goddamnit. I remember reading that, too. Even looked back before I asked, but guess I just forgot and missed it.

I e-mailed them regarding my feet, too. Guess we'll see how long it takes to get back to me.

Out of curiosity, goaliemanshark, how big are your feet? My right is about 30cm long and 12cm wide (at the widest point). Wondering if I'd need an extra wide skate too, or if you're a special case...;)

So, an update on my skates that I have not received yet. Looks like I get to wait a little longer. However, it's all good and here's why.

I got a call from the President of MLX earlier this morning. My skates won't be shipping on the 1st of November as planned. They had an issue with the quality of their holders for this run of skates or something from their manufacturer and thus are delaying shipping and production of my skates a few weeks, with shipping now occurring on the 1st of December. I'm sure I'm also not the only person this has affected either.

One, it was awesome getting to talk to a President of a company. That experience in and of it itself was sweet. I didn't get to pick his brain much, but it was still a neat experience. Two, since I paid for next day air, they are crediting my shipping costs back to me and are still going to be next day air when they ship. Three, I'm getting a free hat and t-shirt.

So, all in all, I'm not too upset if at all because I'm using another pair of skates right now anyway that I just bought new steel for just in case something happened.

What do you think? Did they handle this correctly? I'm fine with it, haha.

First, they're suddenly giving everyone and their brother 50% off and now they're having quality issues causing production delays. This smells of a hidden cash flow problem to me.

I've received great customer service from MLX thus far and am very impressed. Can't thank them enough.

So far, I'm loving my skates. No more arch pain and the fit is great on me. I honestly love this footbed better than any I tried so far!

@krev that's unfortunate about the delay, as i know how much of a wait it already was for the size you wanted.

My feet are smaller then yours, i wear size 9.5 EEE shoes. Just measured and they are 10.25" long and about 4" wide or in CM 26 X 10.2. If you compare the relative lengths to the relative widths my feet are wider then yours. My pair of MLX were oh so close to fitting, but alas no. If i would have worn the MLX i would have developed a crease in my feet after skating (like i get with my eastons now). Yes my feet are so wide that they crease in the middle from being compressed. Yes it hurts...

Second skate in the MLX tonight. They felt even better than the first time. Again, a little arch pain, but for a shorter period of time. After 10 minutes or so it went away and never came back. I'm just amazed at how good these skates feel on my feet. I don't think about them at all until I have a moment to coast and realize it feels like a pair of shoes on my feet, not skates. I'm still skipping the top eyelet, as that's where I'm most comfortable at. Like I said after my first skate, I just feel more.... centered on these skates. Not only front to back, but side to side as well. I don't know what it is, but I feel like I have more control over my edges. I'm really happy with how the skates have worked out. No hot spots have shown up, and my feet don't hurt at all after skating. Occasionally I would get that with my Bauer's and Reebok's, but not at all with the MLX.

Out of curiousity I asked MLX how many times these can be rebaked and they said as many times as I want. That's good information to know in case I want to fix a few spots or just reshape them to my foot.

As many times as you want eh? I wonder what they're really made of. How's the heel holding up?

Well, the actual word he used was "countless," so pretty much the same thing I suppose. In one of the videos I wathced I seem to remember them saying the uppers are made of some sort of thermoformable plastic, while the lower boot around your foot is all carbon/kevlar. The heels of my skates still look new. There's some scuffs on the toe cap, but nothing major.

Just like I thought, they are a bit too narrow for my foot. All the problems are in my right foot. The arch pain was so intense that I almost took them off and put them back in the box. But after an hour the arch pain started to subside, but still very noticeable. They are still too narrow for my foot though, so I may try to rebake them one more time before I write them and ask for their recommendations.

Other than the pain though they felt great though.

Is it something that might be fixed with a new footbed or a heel lift? And by that I mean under your footbed lifting your heel up. I did that initially, but the boots responds very well to heating and boot stretching. Try emailing them and see what your options are if you were to try that with no success.

I'm assuming all that was after the initial heat as well?

Oh, maybe that is why they didn't seem very hot. I did it for 8 minutes total. I remember taking them out and they weren't hot in the least. They still molded up decent though. They'll go in this time for 16 minutes.

I just watched the video...and you're right. 8 minutes per side. Are you guys putting any pressure (i.e. standing up) on your skates fresh out of the oven>?

You shouldn't be standing up at all once the skates are on your feet for at least 20-30 minutes.

Mine were hot to the touch after coming out of the oven. I'd bet that's atleast part of your problem, although the boot could just be too narrow. I left mine on my feet for probably a half hour before I took them off and laid them in front of a fan. Once they cooled down and stiffened up, I walked around in them a little bit.

Very interesting to hear how the skates mold themselves.

I do wonder about the 50% off deal, it seems almost like they were originally going to be $400 but they wanted to make it seem like a "great deal" so everyone jumped on. Not a bad thing, because they are selling direct and can make more money that way.

Does anyone know if you can replace the holders on these if you don't like the stock holders? Or is the material on the bottom too difficult to dill new holes into?

Quite a few questions about durability. Here's a couple pictures of mine after 2 months of 3+ nights a week league hockey.

A few skuffs but nothing that's worrying me at the moment.

I retract what I said below. They ended up replying to my e-mail and discussed a survey they are compiling regarding customers who have specific issues (I'm guessing with wide feet). They said they're going to forward me the e-mail within the next few days. I'll keep everyone updated.

Original Message:

They still haven't responded to my question about a wide skate.

I know they were willing to custom make wider skates for goaliemanshark, but that was after he already purchased them.

Probably not going to even bother when they can't answer a question regarding fit.
