this is the first game this season that orpik has been throwing big hits - dunno why he hasn't been - but i cant remember any..

and usually the announcers are pretty big homers from what i remember

I wasn't talking about hits as much as cross checks, slashes, etc....

As for the announcers, that's why I was surprised. Correctly identified the two handed slash on sid as well as the fact that Malkin drove oshie into the goalie.

This is what worries me. Is he changed forever? Bobby Orr was felled too soon by injuries. Lemieux the same. This would be a shame.

this will be an ongoing circus till the day he retires which could be a yr , could be 15 yrs. As for the Pens , this fiasco will be nothing but a distraction for the foreseeable future.......

Jordan Staal is having an excellent year. He was interviewed yesterday and all of the questions he was asked were about Cindy. Players have ego's , and sooner or later they'll get sick of these types of interviews , then there is resentment in the locker room creating a distraction.

When I got drilled in the back of the head with an aluminum bat catching in college I would go weeks feeling fine with no symptoms. Then out of nowhere I'd lift, take some BP, or just jog in warmups and everything would come rushing back like it was three days out from the initial injury again. Concussions are a fickle injury, I am not jumping to conclusions on this.

All we can do is hope that its a minor speedbump in the road to recovery for a long and fruitful career. It would be such a shame if Sid is never the same player..

People can say what they want about not liking him, calling him a pussy whatever, but what he does for the game is something that doesn't come along every year. We can only hope that he can some how down the road get rid of these reoccurring symptoms. If not, who knows what could happen to the state of hockey, not just in the NHL, but the sport in general. There are parents who will either pull their kids from hockey or not let them play in the future seeing something like this happen.

I know there have been plenty of players before him for this to happen to, but when it happens to someone who is basically the face of the game, that changes everything.

It's not going to matter soon enough. Every kid playing baseball or basketball will be required to wear a helmet; hockey, football, soccer and lacrosse will all be outlawed entirely, and golf & tennis will be the only sports left kids will be allowed to play. I was going to include swimming but there's too much of a risk of drowning.

People are so effing paranoid these days. How many people on here played hockey and football all their lives and had their brains rattled? Probably most. How bout your fathers? I bet most everyone is getting along just fine.

I am afraid you would be wrong on that. You would be surprised on how many people are effected by this. And no i am not taking my kids out of any sports in fact the opposite. However I am far more aware now about what to look for and how to help to do my best to prevent an issue with a head injury.

There is nothing wrong with trying to prevent this from happening.

Someone CAN be sympathetic to another players injury while being a fan of the person who caused it. As a long time pens fan myself, I like Cooke, but I didn't stand up and cheer when Savard got blindsided.

when the whistle finally blew, Crosby made his way over to Krejci and gave him a few cross checks and yapped at him like a chihuahua. It then continued once they got to the bench.

Don't see anything wrong with that, he spun and got him with his elbow. Its a tough game....Doesn't look like he intentionally threw his elbow at him. Unfortunately, Crosby now has a weakness and I can see other players roughing him up.

I remember stating during that game that it's a shame what happened to Crosby, because it was obvious he was feeling vulnerable, based on the way he was reacting to normal plays of the game. That was an inadvertent elbow by Krejci as he was spinning trying to play the puck, but Crosby is understandably protective of himself now and overreacted as a result.
