Easton Stealth RS Stick

Recommended Posts

I have had my stick for around a month know and around the heal of the blade my stick seems to be chipping and cracking along the bottom of the blade (starting at the heel) I dont slam it or anything maybe its just wear.

I got 85 flex Iginla curve

Everything from how you shoot, stickhandle, tap your stick on the ice when calling for passes, etc can play into how a blade wears. This instance of yours is the first I've heard of them "wearing out" that fast, but I wouldn't be as quick to jump and say that they aren't as durable as they should be. Hopefully its just a little wear and still lasts you a long time.

The thread for this that Chippa mentioned is here: http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index.php?/topic/56405-easton-stealth-rs-stick/page__st__400

As for your 'durability' issue, it sounds like you're using the wrong lie, or cut the stick to short/long, or something else that is causing that wear in that one spot. Not an issue with the stick itself, but with how you are using it.

Im using an Iginla 85 flex as I said earlier. I cut it about an inch down at most the lie is a 5.5. I did the same thing with an EQ50 and there was no wear compared to my RS I will try and post up a pic of it in the next day or two

As I recall from many of my Easton sticks, there can be little differences in the blade shape from model to model with the same pattern. The heel on your RS may be a little more squared off than on your EG50 and that could be why you're seeing the difference in wear.

Yeah i actually did notice it was a bit more square tonight chippa thanks for that comment but its kinda annoying that i spent $250 on a stick and it lasts a month... Im thinking that if my warranty is up just gonna get a apx because I dont want anything like this happening again and my friends who have em are happy with em

Since it was a little more squared off, you would have had to cut it just a hair shorter than your EQ50 in order to get the same kind of ice contact on the heel of the stick. It isn't an indictment on the durability of the stick, you were just catching more heel with the RS than you would with the same length EQ50.

Broke my 1 month + 12 days Stealth RS last night (or rather the guy who's shot I stood in front of broke it). Just called Easton Warranty and they are going to replace it. Thanks for the excellent customer service Easton!

Broke my second RS saturday this was a replacement from the last one i broke. Lasted a month i dont think ill be buying eastons again. I had problems with the S17s and S19's breaking fairly quickly but i figured i would give the RS a try. Great stick too bad its poorly made

I was told that a replacement stick (the first warranty claim) doesn't have its own warranty and thus if you break the replacement, then you're SOL. True?

The S17s did have some issues here and there, but if you were breaking several of them and then doing the same with the S19s, I don't think the problem lies with the world-class stick manufacturer.

+1, If you are always breaking sticks fast then it is likely a technique issue causing the breakage not the stick company making a poor product.

While technically true, each story is different and the company may make an exception on the replacement if the breakage sounds like an obvious defect, ie. stick breaks on first shot. It never hurts to call when something happens.

This has been a very popular stick with kids in my son's age group.(minor peewee AAA).

I am referring only to junior sticks here, but the blades are not holding up well at all, the blades are cracking and delaminating. Now, they are at the age/size where they are at the cusp of choosing between a junior stick and a whippy intermediate stick, so that may be part of the problem.

That said, three months seems to be the limit for these guys with the junior model. This is based on about 20 users, so take it for what it's worth.

Probably means nothing with regards to the senior stick, but there you have it.

on PHEW someone mentioned easton is running a recall on the RS's b/c of the blades blowing out the bottom...with that group it's 50/50 mumbo jumbo truth, but I figured I'd at least mention it here and see if there is some fact behind it.

My son's just did the same thing. Just over 2 months. Not cool for a $200+ dollar stick. Luckly his Widow does not suffer from the same problem. Though it's a little short.

My son's is doing the same thing. Probably around 2-3 months and is a Junior stick as well. I think it "only" cost $179 for the junior though (not $200+). It is starting to delaminate at the toe. Gonna put some two part epoxy in the end of it to see if I can save it. I didn't really expect a top of the line stick to be a tank though. It's my fault for buying such a high end stick for a squirt! BTW... I have always taped the toe (I actually put three layers of tape at the toe) and it still happened.

I have had no problems with MY (senior) RS other than it broke in the shaft from blocking a very hard slapshot (better it than me!)... not the stick's fault... and Easton replaced it even though it was 12 days out of warranty.
