Picked up a prostock one of these the other day, using it tomorrow night. For all I know it could be an S19 repaint (the sticker at the top was missing), but for the price I paid, I'd be happy with an S19. Compared to the retail S19 I have, there are differences. Shaft does have the squarer shape that some have already mentioned, and the taper on it seems to be "harder" than the retail S19 I have.

Either way, pumped to use it tomorrow night, and the graphics package on it is awesome. Small gripe about how the EASTON down the sides is next to impossible to see, but I get it since its the whole "stealth" line.

Had a guy bring in an RS for SRS repair a few weeks ago. Said Dave Bolland was his neighbour and it was given to him broken. Apparently Andrew (?) MacWilliam used it in some prospect camp. Took a look at the taper and had a strong feeling it was an SE16, forgot to check for a sticker.

Amazing graphics package though.

Used mine last night. Puck feel was incredible. Noticeable difference from the S19. Shooting wise, velocity seemed about the same as my S19, but my friend who was playing goalie was saying that the release seemed quicker and that the puck seemed to jump off the blade with ease. One thing I was very happy with was receiving passes. Even hard passes stuck to the blade really well, which is something I haven't experienced like this since my last One95 broke.

I'll try and post an update on mine every now and then, but after the first use, if this is what we can all expect from the RS come October, I think I just felt my wallet get much lighter.

For me, it kicked. HARD. Had great puck feel and was light as hell. But everyone has an opinion. I want one NOW!

+1

I agree, the puck just jumped when shooting. Still had good feel for passing & stick handling.

I tried a 100 flex and an 85 flex camelleri and both fired some rockets. the 85 released a little slower but the explosiveness off the stick was incredible.

Coming from an S19, I was excited to try the RS. It's miles ahead of his older brother. The stick preforms like something else. You can ask anyone I talked to during the 3 hour skate... I had nothing but good things to say about it. Definitely my next stick purchase, regardless of my pro-stock S19 breaking.

I was a fan of the stick as well, as I said in the SJ thread, had the one I tested been an 85 flex then it may have gone "missing".

I had a 100 flex that was cup down 3 inches.. ugh..

I thought the 85 played a little stiffer than it was marked and heard the same thing from a couple other people using the sub-100 flexes. Feel wasn't bad, the puck seemed to stick to it fairly well, but I didn't the performance was all that special.

Got to use the RS for an extended period of time at Summer Jam. The first thing I noticed (besides the graphics) was the shaft shape, much thicker than what I remember of using other Easton sticks and more similar shaft shape to a pro stock Derek Morris SE16 I own. Easton Rep mentioned they were using the Pro style shaft shape for the RS which I really liked.

On the ice is where the fun begins with the RS. I had a Cammalleri in 100 Flex which I felt played slightly more flexible than a 100 flex but in a good way. The feel of the blade was great, you knew when & where the puck was on your stick and catching and making passes felt a lot better than other 1-pieces I've used. The larger shaft shape also felt better for puck handling and I was surprised when I went back to my Dolomite how thin that shaft was.

Shooting is where the real fun begins with the RS. I had to apologize a few times as pucks hit the crossbar and went out of play, but thats the sort of zip the puck has with the RS. The RS loads up real quick and the release of the stick just unloads the puck off of the blade. Picking corners was a thing of beauty with the RS. I've never been a slapshot guy so I can't comment on how the RS performs when you really wind up but I can say on snapshots its downright deadly. The other thing about the RS was its consistency, every shot (as long as my shooting mechanics were good) went where I wanted them and with a lot of zip. On other OPS sometimes the stick kind of opens up when you shoot and you'll flub a shot, that did not happen at all with the RS. I also liked the stiffness of the blade on the RS, I tend to put a lot of pressure on the blade when I shoot and the consistent stiffness of the RS blade had a real good feel to it.

I've been using Warrior for a while now but thats about to change when the RS comes out. I know the price of the RS is going to be up there but I can say after using the stick its going to be worth it. Getting to try out the RS at Summerjam was the best and also the worst thing, the best b/c the stick is just awesome, the worst because I have to wait for the RS to come out.

Any insiders know if there will be an RS shaft/blade combo like the OPS?

With the S19, the combo was nothing like the OPS, but by comparison, the SE16 combo was indistinguishable.

Of course it's not going to be similar. The SE16 was a traditional taper, while the S19 had the elliptical taper. Hard to release a shaft with a taper that only takes specific blades so they got rid of the elliptical taper on it.

Going alone with this the S19 2-Piece from what I have gathered from here is basically the S15 shaft with a new paintjob. Also yes the elliptical taper isn't there as well, although it does taper off but the shaft opens up where the hosel of the blade has to go in. I can get a picture of it for you side-by-side with the OPS when I get home in an hour.

Understood--never seen one in person but sounds a lot like the Z-bubble.

I guess I don't see why Easton couldn't make a 2-piece combo, but I understand why they wouldn't, i.e., proprietary blade size/dimension, etc. Easton would never make a proprietary blade system would they? Would they?? :)

In the interest of full disclosure, the S19 2-piece is just a continuation of the Z-Bubble shaft.

Time for a refresh, no?

I haven't used an Easton stick in forever, never used an elliptical tapered stick. The stick had some pop to it, I'd have liked to try it in my curve. The stick also felt solid, there wasnt the "ping" feel to the blade. Personally I prefer a pingy feel, because the feedback helps me see where the puck is on the blade. I think I was expecting a higher kick point out of it, but no complaints on the low kick point. It shot well, didn't feel like there was a break in period, but it also did not feel like it had extra explosiveness some fresh sticks have. But this may lead to consistancy which is also a valuable thing to consider.

I was more impressed by the widow when I used it in December. compared to the apx, I may slot this lower because of the feel of both a low and high kick point on the apx and the touchier blade on the apx, that's personal preference. Top three, I'd say widow, apx, rs.

While impressed by the stick, I'm curious as to its durability. As I said it felt solid, but who knows. I'm not sure that i would spend over $200 on this stick. Given another opportunity to take it for a spin, I'd certainly jump at the chance. I'd like to see what a second impression would give me. I think the stick has the potential to persuade me, which is more than I can say for the u+ and the Diablo I tested.

My LHS received their shipment of Easton Stealth RS sticks this morning (8-15-11). I was told it was an attempt on Easton's part to get a jump on Bauer's fall release. I picked up a Hall 85 Grip and will use for my ice game Thursday night and post my thoughts on it Friday.
