tro 4 Report post Posted March 29, 2011 Wow, surprised the cops aren't involved. The kid who got knocked out, did just try to do almost the same thing to the other team, so my sympathy is low, but still that was brutal.

skeeter14 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2011 there is another vid here (actually the same vid without being rotated) and it appears the players themselves are getting in comment wars.http://www.youtube.com/all_comments?v=Y8dD71GrBFs
bigdmac 12 Report post Posted March 29, 2011 I wouldnt be suprised if the kid who sucked the other kid gets some sort of criminal charge. That's just wrong.
goblue9280 33 Report post Posted March 29, 2011 Still trying to figure out the details... this article gives more info. The kid who caused the injury apparently came back onto the ice after being tossed earlier... that's inexcusable. What I'm still trying to figure out from the story is if the kid who got injured left the penalty box because his penalty was over, or if he left early to jump into the fight. Axxion89 32 Report post Posted March 29, 2011 During a skirmish near the end of the game, Arlington Martin's Jeff SoRelle left the penalty box and skated toward the fray. Skating at full speed, SoRelle launched himself into Keller's Travis Hall, who was standing along the boards watching the fight but staying out of it. Fortunately, SoRelle did not hit Hall squarely. When SoRelle bounced off the boards, he squared off with a Keller player. That's when another Keller player, Braxton Mills, came flying in and sucker punched SoRelle, sending him to the ice. SoRelle suffered a broken jaw and a concussion.Let me preface what I am about to say by stating that this whole occurrence at the end of a 9-3 game is awful and should have never happened. In addition to that, I do not condone anything that happened in that video. That being said, the kid who got drilled in open ice got exactly what he deserved. If the skater just standing there got hit the wrong way into the boards, he could have been severely injured or even paralyzed.
Fire0nIce228 1 Report post Posted March 29, 2011 The kid that ends up in a heap on the ice blindside runs the opposition along the boards just before it happens to him. I have no sympathy.Sad to see a brawl like that in high school hockey yes, but for that particular player, no.

Chadd 916 Report post Posted March 29, 2011 Two cheap shots by the black team started it all, then another guy in black runs 26 white (who was using the stick a little bit) from the blindside before he gets creamed from the blind side himself. The kid that ends up in a heap on the ice blindside runs the opposition along the boards just before it happens to him. IniNew 53 Report post Posted March 30, 2011 I graduated, and still live in Keller. It's been said that Mills will be charged with assault because he came back onto the ice after being tossed. Overall this is a disgrace to hockey in Texas, and my school in general. Although I feel as though the Arlington Martin player laid his own bed with the earlier hit, he did not deserve the broken jaw and grade 3 concussion. This has been all over the news for the past few days.
Hockey3712 3 Report post Posted March 30, 2011 When I used to play high school hockey in dfw it was just beginning, and sometimes the DPSC-Plano basically just hosted a testosterone circus. No one seemed to care. We would just hit ALL THE damn timeThat second video skeeter14 make a lot of difference, the first doesn't show anything leading up to the two cheapshots
Joshison 1 Report post Posted March 30, 2011 I don't see where the player on the black team took a run at the other kid. edit never mind I see now, videos just mad choppy in the beginning. Wish he didn't break his jaw or get that concussion but someone needed to hit him after his cowardly act.

Wish he didn't break his jaw or get that concussion but someone needed to hit him after his cowardly act.ant say I am surprised by this nonsense happening in Texas. I put together a small team to travel and play some tourneys so we could play new teams outside of OK. We won the tourney but in the championship game 3 of their players attacked one of my guys. One of said players kicked him in the face with his skate. Sent my guy to the hospital. Luckily it was just 15 stitches and nothing worse. The kid only got a 1 game suspension for blatantly kicking someone in the face with a skate. Guess thats how they play down there.
steelnation248 102 Report post Posted March 30, 2011 After seeing all the videos posted so far, it's not hard to see how a brawl irrupted from those two pretty nasty boarding hits. They said the one kid in black who ended up with the concussion jumped off the bench to make that hit on the other player just standing there. I don't really have to much sympathy for him seeing as he just skated across about half the ice, probably at full speed, to hit an unsuspecting player. Then the players brother hit him in the exact same fashion, except in open ice and not into the boards. It sucks he got hurt so severely but I don't feel bad for him because he could have done the same thing to the opposing player.

In the last video posted you can see him jabbing his stick into the pile. Not many innocent parties in those videos and games rarely turn into something like this without provocation or buildup. As an official in other sports, I've seen this happen rather suddenly in lopsided games and it usually took several ejections and a talk with both coaches to get things settled down. starsfan71 9 Report post Posted March 30, 2011 As a player who has played against both these teams and with several of the players involved I say Braxton should be charged with assault. I hate Martin as a team much more they are leaders in the league in PIM year after year after year, no one likes to play against them but Braxton always has had a temper and it's got to stop somewhere, it was a meaningless came and the hit did not have to happen. No class at all I hope the Keller and Martin organizations get some form of penalty. I personally have been called a spineless bitch by the Keller coach and he has also refused to shake our coaches hand in the line before, hopefully they kick him out of the league. Like most, I can get into a fight when it has meaning during the game or I understand why small scrums start around the net after play has stopped, but something like this should never happen. starsfan71 9 Report post Posted March 30, 2011 wow, classy!Yep I was a 15 year old sophomore at the time that had just been rammed from behind into the boards and had been down on the ice for about 5 minutesAs a high school hockey player in Texas the league is a complete joke, it is known that Mansfield (a team in close vicinity to Martin) has payed the refs in a game and Martin has dressed suspended players in other players jerseys along with Marcus High schoolWe as a team left the ice during the third period this past week when an African American player was called the N word in front of the ref but the ref clearly did not like us so he did nothing about it. The ref was Toma Nua who everyone around Texas will claim as a biased ref who regularly throws gamesAnd they wonder why kids stick to travel hockey in the area.... Much better experience although I have played high school a 4 years of my high school career and I played JV in 8th grade as well. I am honestly not surprised this happened in a state championship blow out IN FACT I am surprised this is the fist time this has happened in the league to this degree. This is coming from a player on a team that has won a state championship my freshmen year so it's not just like I am a disgruntled player on a bad team. raganblink 82 Report post Posted March 31, 2011 HS hockey in areas where it really isn't a tradition and fairly new at that has the potential to become a joke at times. Iowa's HS travel league pretty much is a couple kids wheeling and sniping, and the rest of the kids hitting each other high. At pretty much HS level it easily becomes this though...As for this particular brawl, I've seen and been in worse, atleast it wasn't completely bench hopin. What's messed up actually is the kid who was jabbing the players with his stick. Quite frankly every kid in this brawl wasn't guilty. The kid who got lit up in center ice only had that happen b/c the 26 white was jabbing where he shouldn't be. What is kinda weak about this whole thing is that 3 white, who came out of no where and concussed the kid in black wouldn't drop. If you're going to superjump into someone you need to back it up.tl;dr nothing to see here. Only thing that is unique is that it happened in a state final.
