Bauer Vapor APX vs Easton RS

Recommended Posts

Anyone got some opinions on these sticks. I have used Easton's since I can remember. Thinking about switching to Bauer. I use an 85 flex S17 now. Thinking about switching to a 77 Flex APX because I cut about 6 inches off the top. Worried about it having too much flex when I stickhandle. Any opions on the sticks would be awsome.

Been an Easton twig user my whole life, up until I got my APX...and I think it's no looking back. Haven't had the chance to use an RS- I'm sure it's a great twig, but overall Bauer's really stepped their game up and produces (to me at least) an all around great stick now. Caught a bad vibe from Easton's product after using the S19's, and having them die out on me a month or 2 into use. Go Bauer. All day! Go with the 77 too. I picked up a 102 first in APX, (coming from 100 Eastons) and was too stiff. Now rocking an 87 and it's perfect. Good Luck.

From what I recall, s17's played more whippy than rated? I forget if that was a function of the extra length on those sticks or they just played whippy overall but nonetheless, the 77 should be good for ya! I currently use a 77 apx chopped down as well and although I feel like it's whippier than the outgoing x:60 of the same rated flex, it doesn't take long to start firing rockets again.

The S17s were notoriously whippy and the 85s played more in the 70s range. I'd definitely suggest going with the 77 on the APX, especially considering that the Vapor series of stick has played much stiffer since the X60s came out.

I'm a Bauer guy. I have 2 APX's and an RS. I decided to try out the RS. I used the RS for about a week. I bought an 85 flex but it still feels too whippy for me. I was thinking about getting a 100 flex but decided to try out an APX. I love the APX! Bauer 4 life!

I have heard from numerous people that RS sticks are arriving broken (from different retailers) or the blade goes soft after a few sessions. I have an RS but haven't used it besides puck handling. I've owned several X:60s (never had one break just trade/sell) and when I got an APX, I prefer it over Eastons.

I just don't really like the elliptical taper.

That's my greif with Eastons recently is the blade going soft.

Arriving broken? As in Easton's shipping broken sticks or sticks are reaching end-users broken? Please elaborate, that's a pretty heady claim.

I have both the APX and the RS. They're both great sticks, just different. I think the APX is more versatile. I get good results on all types of shots with the Bauer. The RS probably has the best release of any stick I've used. For me the trade off is: I get a little better slap shot with the APX, and a little better wrist shot with the RS. I think puck feel and control is better on the APX. Shaft shape is different. RS is more square, APX is more rounded. The RS did get soft/whip out faster than the APX, but not any faster than any other Easton stick I've used. We haven't had an unusual number of either come back broken at our LHS. Vapor sticks play stiff. I use a 102 in a Supreme, I back down to a 87 in the Vapor.

They are arriving broken in the box. From different retailers too.

Mine is still fine and those who have has theirs replaced broke again. One even claimed Easton admitted it was an issue. But I cannot confirm that

Thanks guys, sounds like I am going in the right direction with a 77 APX. That has been my biggest problem with Easton's is the blade going soft...drives me crazy.

I have 2 of each, and love the RS. Blade is gone soft on my first one already, not a fan of how non durable they are.

i have used both sticks (i use the RS currently and personally i love it) i tried the APX, i think at the Bauer Experience, i loved it, much better than the X:60, although i have not used it enough to actually compare to the RS, both are great sticks though. also, i have had no problems what so ever with durability on my RS

Damn, I loved the S19s and preffered them a lot more over the X:60s. I was about to pick up an RS but now with everyone saying that the durability is pretty bad and that the APX is better.... back to the drawing board.

I'm not one for marketing BS... but honestly, the statistics for the RS in the NHL are staggering. Not sure if that means anything to you... just throwing it out there :)

I looked at the RS and the APX last night. RS seemed lighter to me, but I preferred the balance on the APX, so that's what I bought.

According to the markings on the stick, if you cut off 6 inches you'll be somewhere between a 92 and a 100 flex.

The statistics of players still using SE16's would probably be even more staggering.

UPDATE: Picked up an APX P92 Lie 5 77 Flex last Friday. Played 4 games over the weekend with it and so far I am liking it. After cutting it down, flex is right at the 92 line. Took about a game and a half to get use to the lie coming from the 5.5 Sakic. Was very surprised how big of a difference that made. So far love the stick, great pop on my shots and the puck feel is def better than the Easton I came from. Only time will tell with the durability, which was my main reason for switching from Easton (blades going soft). In short, def the right choice and so far so good.

I've owned 3 Int. APX 77 flex.

The 1st one broke on my first shift. The 2nd one broke after about 5 games. Stick feels great, but so far the durability makes it unusable.

I haven't tried the RS, but my S19 lasted forever.

yeah... my APX isn't broken yet, but the blade went soft after a couple of months & now makes cracking noise...

didn't expecte that since One95 lasted forever, and APX is supposed to have the new resin with nanotechnolgoy etc... crap!
