Done with warrior. What to get next?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I have been using warrior sticks for years and recently they have been breaking in the blade so I want to switch to a more durable stick. Was thinking Bauer because I've read they are good for dmen, idk what makes a certain brand good for a certain position but whatever. I'm 6'2 190lb dman. Just looking for some suggestions on what to try and how Bauer differs from warrior sticks

Thanks

well actually the covert DT1 is looking good this year durability wise. Otherwise I'd just go with an easton st.

You just have to find a flex profile that works for you. All of the "certain sticks/skates for a certain position" is just marketing. The best thing to do would be post what stick(s) you were using and try to find ones that had a similar flex profile, if you want to try to find something close. If you want to try something new, then you just have to pick what you think you'd like. Durability won't be the same for everyone. Some people's Warrior's keep going strong for years, others break. That will be the same for all brands.

Really sorry to hear that we've lost a customer but more importantly a long-time customer. Wish there was something I could say to help re-instill your confidence in our new DT1, hope this helps.

We really deconstructed our blade and re-engineered it. Every features works with the other to build a blade that we feel is a wholesale change from what we had before. Not small tweaks and feature additions like years past, a full fledged re-build. We've also been testing these features in the NHL all last season. Each feature (TwinSpar, HardcoreX, Carbonized, Aramid sole) all went through tests by themselves with NHL'ers and then as a whole package test. The results were very well received at pro and with our retail testers. We actually made the blades lighter, but stronger and more durable. That's why we decided to not name the whole blade (like DoubleD or Spyne or whatever), but name each feature...they're all important to pushing our blades forward.

Hope you give us another chance. It really makes me mad when messages like this come through and I continue to push our engineers for it.

If anything and FWIW...sorry we lost you as a customer.

Keith

Just picked up a pair of Widows after loving the Diablo.

After seeing Keith's classy post and how seriously Warrior takes it's non-pro customers complaints and issues, if you lost one before you just gained a customer for life.

Good on you guys for interacting with the customers on forums, wish more companies would.

I've been using the Nexus 600, and its held up pretty well through a full season of inline, even playing center.

I've been looking at the new warriors though too, they look pretty nice to me, looking at maybe picking one up after next pay day.

Another class response, Keith.

FWIW here, I've had the DT1 since it came out, best Warrior stick they've made and personally the best stick on the market. We as retailers have also had zero issues with the stick with our customers. Everyone who has picked one up is still using it and loving it.

You gotta give him another chance now, Miseaujeu is outside your bedroom window with his boombox.

i just switched to warrior after a long easton reign and i have to say that I have put my warrior dolomite through hell and back and it's holding up fine my last stick was a easton st but it can't compare to the warrior seriously great feel and my shots really couldn't get better i can really get a lot of power on my shots, i can't say that for my previous sticks.... That's not talk

Keith, a couple weeks ago I sent a note about a Widow of mine having issues. While I understand the 'no warranty if sold overseas', I find it hard to stick with Warrior. The best LHS we have here is over 2000km from where I live. Granted I'm lucky enough to travel that distance every other month for work, it just doesn't have much. I took a look the other day... Harrow, Bauer TO, APX Easton S3, and a 2008 Dolomite. That was it. And the Dolomites were the same price as the TO at 249 bucks. I actually went there and asked about the Nexus skates, and the reply said it all 'wtf is that?'.

Thinking about the covert dt1. Currently have a sickick 11k cut down to 56 inches and the flex rating is 78 on the stick. Feels pretty stiff to me though. Trying to figure out if I should go for 75 or 85 flex on dt-1.

Sure it's ancient tech, but you can always rely on an old Dolo. At least I could. I didn't like the Widow but the Dolo has always done well for me and they've been absolute tanks for me. The old '05 graphics with '90s tech did me well and I still have a few left.

The original Warrior composite blades on their Dolomite were stiff and rock hard (x60ish IMO); lasted forever and played well. Not sure what happened to that construction.

Fond memories of dealing in blade-only purchases at the LHSs.

That's not warrior's fault. Retailers can charge whatever they want for product. If they feel the need to overcharge on an item, you can't hold the company against that, its on that business.

And we've already had a topic dealing specifically with the problems faced in Australia.

I'm not saying that it's warrior's fault or the retailers' fault, but I cannot see myself buying a warrior stick anytime soon because of the overinflated costs locally or buying thru a second party in the US, ship it to me, and not have warranty.

kpeach - I've been using the new One.8 from Bauer for a couple weeks now. It is the update for the One100 this year. As a d-man I like a stick that isn't ultralight and the one.8 comes in at 462g. It is fused and has more of a mid-kick, again a positive for me when taking mostly slappers and needing to lean on it in the corners. My only caveat is that it's 59 and not 60 inches, taking me a couple days to get used to it shorter. However since most people cut down sticks it would be a non-issue for most.

fyi..also liked the Warrior Evo when I did the LTR earlier for MSH

And a boombox is not a toy.

Anyway, I keep going back to Warrior because I just like the feel of their sticks. The blade issues (from reading these forums) are numerous, so I hope it's actually a stronger blade this time. My Easton ST has already been through twice as much as my DD Warrior blades and it's fine.

So if the feel is there and it lasts me a little longer, well, that would be awesome.

However, for the OP, if you're looking for something that will take a beating, try the ST, or anything cheaper than top of the line, really. They're heavier and sturdier, for the most part, but won't perform quite as well.

Id say Bauer is really solid, or any other brand except Warrior. Me too i have had my diablo, dynasty and widows breaking down at the blade prematurely, things that i have not experienced not nearly that much with other brands, hell even my ccm's outlasted every warrior stick ive had. I loved how those sticks feel and shoot, but Im done with Warrior too unless they can prove that they fixed their blade issues.
