Girdle questions

Recommended Posts

I just ordered my first girdle ever, one95 XL.

I will see how these will fit, I'm currently wearing jofa 7000 XL+2. I have no idea what to expect. Girdles aren't really found in stores in Quebec. They are not popular.

When the first cooperall came out, I really wanted a pair. The only girdle I ever tried on was a RBK 9K and I didn't like the fit, nor the weight. I didn't feel any lighter than regular pants.

Why not grab the Total One? It's the newer version of the One95, although if price is an issue it is a bit more coin. I picked up the TotalOne after reading through here just out of curiosity. It feels like there's zero protection when just holding it but once it's on the pads feel a lot more solid. The 9k Shell seems like a great fit for it with the added protection the shell has...it's a very lightweight setup This probably isn't something I would wear if I played D or was a shot blocker but for a forward it's probably great. I'll be giving it a go Friday, I do a lot of goalie screening so I'm sure I'll get good feedback on what it's like to take a puck or some sticks off of it and fall in the thing.

all my LHS don't stock girdles, prohockeylife and hockeyexperts included.

I don't like paying retail + 30$ of shipping to try out something, yeah I'm cheap...

also I'm 6'5" 210lbs so size is problematic

Let us know how you like your new setup, what size is your 9k shell? same size as the girdle or smaller

edit: nevermind about the size, I read your previous post

I've always been a girdle user. Here's what I have used over the years: CCM Tacks, Bauer MBP, Easton Synergy, Eagle X88 and X95, CCM Vector Pro and various roller ones. I prefer the pull ons as opposed to the Velcro wrap style. Out of all of these, I've liked the Bauer MBP the most. I'm stoked that I finally found some new ones for a decent price!

I'm 6'3" 210, so similar in size to you, and I wear a TotalOne girdle in an L. The L fits me in the waist, but it is a touch short, but the XL felt too loose. A big reason I'm excited for the TotalOne NXG pant (which is essentially the girdle with more hip protection and an integrated shell) is because the NXG will be available in an L tall size, which is either +1" or +2" in length.

That's good info thanks. I'm curious was the XL much longer than the large?

After scavenging 3 lhs, I found a single vapor apx in large. It was to short but the waist fit fine.

I'll look into the new nxg . Thanks

I have a questions regarding girdles. I am a female 5'7" approx. 160 lbs. I play 4-5 times a week on average and lately my Bauer Vapor X7.0 pants don't seem to be getting the job done. Last night at pick-up I managed to take a slapshot to my thigh area and have a bruise about twice the size of the puck to prove my pant protection is inadequate. I realize just about every girdle out there comes with a removable cup so I would just take it out and slip in the jill from shock doctor, but which girdle is going to give me the most protection in my leg area? I read through the thread and I seem to be confused some people are saying that the TotalOne doesn't have as much protection as the APX and others are saying the opposite. I have to order online as my LHS doesn't carry any girdles for me to look at/try-on.

None of the Bauer girdles or core pads have an integrated cup. Nor does the Warrior Projekt. And those that do, jills won't fit.

However, a shot to the thigh, pants most likely would've done a better job than a girdle, due to the fact that there's segmented padding in the girdle.

This may be what you need - http://g-form.com/products/crash-shorts/

Like JR said, i do not think a jill will fit into the integrated pockets on the girdles. And BTW, JR, the Projekt does have an integrated pocket.

However, I'd just use your normal shock doctor jill under the girdle. I wear a Projekt girdle and still use a SD jock under the girdle and dont feel any difference once its one. Just use the SD, attach your socks to it and pull up the girdle and you'll be fine.

If you're worried about thigh protection, I think the Easton Stealth girdle has the largest leg pads of the bunch and has some of the most hip and back protection as well. Its really well padded yet quite mobile.

Thanks for the replies. I guess when I said thigh that it a pretty large area. Where I got hit was about 4 inches above my knee, but more towards my inner thigh where traditional pants don't have guards. The thigh guard on my Vapor X7.0s didn't quite wrap around enough so I'm thinking that a girdle will wrap closer to my body so there hopefully won't be as many gaps. I'm going to try the TotalOne and see how that fits since it doesn't have a cup built in and I can wear my SD Jill pants underneath. If they don't work any better oh well at least I got something new right?

Real quick with the Total One girdles... I bought one back in the summer of 2011. It fell apart within 3 weeks. The velcro was coming instiched, the inside was tearing, and the front panel was coming undone. I was able to get a refund through Icewarehouse.com (I love that site). My buddy bought the same girdle last summer and had the exact same things happen to him. The only difference is the inside of the girdle did not fall apart like mine. I found another BRAND NEW Total One girdle at a Play it Again Sports with the SAME problems. Just be weary. I don't know if it's a common problem or a certain batch. Me and my friend bought them a year apart from each other. I loved the thing. Went out and found a Bauer one95 on ebay and a Bauer MBP on www.hockeyworld.com. The one95 is built much better.

Also if it matters... I prefer the wrap style girdle of the one95/Total One over the pull up style of the MBP. Both fit fine but the wrap is just way easy to get on and off.

Smokin, wearing a jill/jock underneath a pull up girdle is really not a problem. I actually wear one of the loose Shock Doctor jocks underneath my Projekt girdle. Once you have it on you'll never know its there. Dont rule out the Easton or other pull on girdles for fear of having to use a jill underneath.

I used to wear my WSI jock under the Tackla girdle that I had without any problems as well.
