Lightest stick on the Market, Looking for something specific

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

Two questions here....What are some of the lightest sticks on the market?

Second, everytime I find a stick I like, they discontinue it! I was using a Reebok 10K, crosby, and now I've been using a Warrior Widow, Kremlin curve. It's a great stick, but the toe is chipping off.

I need a stick under $150, with a very low kick point, tapered shaft and very lightweight. Also needs to be OPS....Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

If you're willing to spend just $50 more, you could get the EK-15, which is the lightest stick on the market, as far as I know.

EK15 is the absolute lightest at 385g. It is also the cheapest for any stick that you'll get in that weight neighborhood among major brands (excluding generics/Tron). As far as light and a bargain, Easton's Mako II comes in at 435 grams and was recently on clearance at a lot of places for $100. Generally, keep an eye out for last gen top sticks in stores (Stage 2, Reebok Ribcor, Bauer NXG and soon APX2). Most will come in either a bit above or a bit below your target price.

Do you think the lighter the stick, generally the lower the kick point? I absolutely cannot shoot with mid kickpoints, not sure why but its impossible for me.

The lower the kickpoint the lower the kickpoint. Lightness has nothing to do with the location of the kickpoint. Rather than looking for the lightest stick, maybe look for the best balanced. A heavier well balanced stick in your hands will "feel" lighter than a blade heavy or top heavy stick that weighs in at less grams.

the new vapor 1x is 397 grams. it's LIGGGHHHHHTTTTT

Idk what u used to weight it but the 1x is not 397 maybe the intermediate I had a sr 77 flex no grip is 410 grams and I have the grip too which weighs 418 grams the ek15 is low kick and around 384 grams I also have a 65 flex true a6.0 it's 398 grams taped and waxed. The sr a6.0 is 400 grams the warrior qr1 is also light I have the grip version it's 404 grams

EK15. Not even a decision.

The TRUE is not a low kick stick. It's marketed as a mid kick.

Yes the True is a mid kick. if you only want low i would choose either the QR1 or the 1X the Ek15 is the lightest but imo it doesn't shoot as well as the others. If you care more about passing and stick handling maybe more of a play maker its great. If your a shooter go with the QR1 or 1X i personally prefer the 1X.

EK15 is definitely what you're looking for. Sure, it'll run you around $200, but you're getting the lightest stick on the market, bar none, and one of the lowest kickpoints available. They're sometimes on sale for less - I got mine for $180, taxes included and free shipping on Hockey Supremacy a while ago. Plus, the thing is an absolute tank.

Otherwise, as others have said, go clearance or pro stock. You can get pro stock Easton V9Es, Bauer APXs, or Warrior DT1LTs for around 150 if you look hard enough, and they definitely meet your criteria.

It may be hit or miss in terms of counterfeit issues, but you can take those up with Paypal if it becomes an issue. There are several two-packs of EK15s up on ebay now within your price range, especially if you turn around and flip the second.

Any $150 stick that is "very lightweight" has already been discontinued. As mentioned, EK15 is probably your best combination of weight, kickpoint and price. Unfortunately, you aren't going to get all three.

I'd seriously consider the $129.99 Bauer Vapor X800. It isn't as light as you want, but it is VERY well balanced. The balance makes it feel lighter than it is (~450 grams). I like it quite a bit.

Do you have any experience w the X700? Curious about the balance and feel.

OP I'd just get the EK-15, it's really a no brainer if you truly require the lightest stick out there.

I'm planning on getting one (or potentially it's upgrade) once my Warrior stick breaks.

Sherwood T120 is also very light at 395g, but I think we haven't mentioned it because it's mid kick, and slightly more expensive and heavier than the EK15. Just thought I'd throw it out there in case you decide to go to a store and check out your options so you can see which feel you like best.

Also very well balanced for a $99 stick. I haven't used it (besides puck handling in the store with it). Balance wise, it beats the 170 and QR4 (I own a QR4)

Thanks for the reply. The $100 price point is where I'd prefer to be. This is reassuring.

You didn't specify a curve preference which could limit models to choose from. Since you are using a widow w/Kremlin I'd look at last year's warrior DT1 LT on clearance or the newer QR3 or the vapor x800. Whatever you get, if you like it, immediately buy backup units.
