Oakley, Tron, Tour visor comparison

Recommended Posts

My first visor was an Oakley visor and a film on the inside of the visor started peeling and flaking. Nothing other than water and a micro fiber towel touched the Oakley visor to clean it so it wasn't a chemical or abrasive towel that did it. I know have a Bauer visor and I'm very happy with it and will probably get another Bauer if I ever need one. I play with some guys who wear the Tron visor and they have never talked negatively about them. I don't know if my Oakley was defective but I was pretty disappointed for the price that was paid.

The Oakley I'm using is significantly better than the Bauer I used to use. I haven't tried Tron, but I won't touch anything they make.

Tour visors are meh, Trons are embarrassingly poor quality. Oakleys, while pricy, tend to be worth it in terms of optical quality.

Hejduk Sport makes nice visors around the $59 price point.

I've used the Hejduk visors and found them to be similar in quality to the Oakley that I used to use.

I have a tron visor. Had it for two years and it is perfect. No scratches yet either, which is great in comparison to my old itech which got a scratched at the slightest contact.

I'm not a huge Hockey Tron fan but I did purchase one of their $20 visors when the company was just starting out. At that price point it's better than some of the other options out there like the Bauer RBE I.

If you are concerned about optics then essentially any visor with a curved lens will do, not necessarily an Oakley. Bauer's HDO visors will do as well.

Is a Oakley visors that much better than the other brands as far as clarity, I notice they cost about double.

I have Oakley and Tour, Oakley is definitely better in terms of clarity.

I've used Bauer, Tron and Oakley visors. The Bauer I was using had a reaction to a cleaner and the inside of it started to peel. The tron lasted me about 2 years before it started to peel on the inside like the bauer, but it only ever had water used to clean it. I currently use an oakley that I got from a DR equipment sale for $25. If I need to purchase another visor I'll either wait for another pro team equipment sale or get a tron.

I wouldn't drink that water.

I have the HDO visor and it has been perfect for almost a year now. I'm not super hard on it, but I don't baby it and it hasn't fogged or gotten any scratches. FWIW

doesn't Bauer use Oakley's technology on their visors now?

I could be wrong, thought I read that somewhere tho ...

I believe it is the shape that Bauer is using, not necessarily the technology.
