Went to Game 5 of the Leafs vs. Bruins the other week fully expecting to watch the game at Maple Leafs Square (the outdoor tailgate party hosted by the Leafs/Canadian Tire). Ended up getting there REALLY early (it was after my FINAL ever undergrad exam) and decided to spin the wheel on a whim because I didn't have any blue on (and there was a blue t-shirt prize). Was hoping for either the shirt or the hat, ended up landing on the golden tickets... Got to see my first ever live playoff game and we won to force Game 6! I wasn't even gonna go because most of my friends who were supposed to come had flopped! Only thing that could've made that day better was being able to go to the game with either of my parents or my sister (who wouldn't have gotten there on time) or my other Leafs-obsessed buddy.

The "packers" you're referring to is what Scott Van Horne (in his video) refers to as the "custom fit toe cap inserts". They are black foam pads, about an 1/8" thick, that are held in the front of the boot with masking tape. I had one in my boot too, and I also removed it as the boot felt too short. Once I took the insert out the boot length was perfect (it gives you a 1/4 size more in length if you take one out). This is not to be confused with the toecap foam, which are red comfort foam pads (the same material they use to make the red footbeds) that are adhered to the front of the toecap to provide comfort padding. Note: not all True skates have the toe cap inserts in them - I had it only in one skate, the skate for my shorter foot) Very common to reheat the eyelets and pull them back in order to get into the skate easier Step holder pitch is slightly more forward than the Tuuk holder pitch. I wouldn't worry too much about the "break down" in your pic. That's mostly the carbon composite outer epoxy layer scratching off, which is gonna happen during gameplay. AFAIK, it's not going to affect the integrity of the boot. (it's like scratching graphics off on another brand skate) If anything worries you though, contact True. They're customer service is great and they're always ready to help out.

I got my new skates in January. After I heated the them I had what looks like exploding glue near the same seam and that section was bulged and separated from the skate. I contacted True since I was also concerned and they said the glue was not thermally active (incorrect in my opinion) and the seam/glue was cosmetic. I think they have issues with the glue at least in some cases. The skates were heated at a True reseller and it appeared that everything was done correctly. I got rid of the bulging and the separation by heating the area with a hairdryer. Fixed it immediately. That said, I now have at least 50 games on them ( I play a lot)and the area is no worse. Only major problem I have had was breaking a blade within a week in the area where the bolt holds it. True replaced it at no cost and the LHS profiled and sharpened them for free so the service was great. I believe there is a year warranty from Step on their steel.

Howdy, Maybe this helps, maybe not... I have the 7092 girdle. Size M and I'm 5'10". If anything, its a touch short. No way would I want that length if I had longer legs. The only part I'm not sure about is how the adjustable length range on the Super Tacks compares to the 7092's non-adjustable length. Mark

I spent the past two weeks utterly frantic that I would go to ride time (part of paramedic school - riding 3rd as a student medic on an ambulance) and completely fall apart and end up with nothing to show for it. Well, Wednesday was my first day, and our very first call was to meet up with a FD ambulance for a heart attack patient. We had to do everything on the move (literally: moving ambulance), including starting an IV, giving meds, and getting an EKG. Hell of a way to start off, but I did well according to my preceptor, and I feel a whole lot better about things now. Even having to get up at 4:30 in the morning seems worth it.

If you don't need the adjustability of the Super Tacks girdle, the 7092 girdle is every bit as good, at $40 less. There are two features I like better on the 7092, and 2 from the Super Tacks: Better on the Super Tacks: Padding on the back of the thigh is segmented, and thicker than on the 7092. Not a huge deal, but a chop or a puck to the back of the leg would be better on the Super Tacks. Adjustable thigh and hip pads, and spine protector. If you like to play around with the positioning of these pads, or if you're growing and want the girdle to grow with you - nice feature. Better on the 7092: The velcro across the front doesn't extend up over your belly like it does on the Super Tacks. Personal preference here, but I had to modify the Super Tacks to be like the 7092 because my son didn't like that extra padding in the front. No crotch/leg section. It's a pure wrap, the way the Super Tacks probably should be too. Find that a lot more comfortable. I had to cut the crotch/leg section out of the Super Tacks girdle as my son found it too restrictive. Both girdle's sizing runs small - if you are a medium in a pair of Nexus pants, I'd try on the Large CCM girdle. colins
