I was expecting thinner like the old Bauer tongues. These still feel a bit thick for my liking as if I crank the laces I start to get lace bite near my instep. I enjoy the tongue more than the stock one though just for the lower profile.

saying they "dropped the ball" based on comfort and poor fit seems a bit harsh, considering it might fit others just fine. if i judged all helmets based on how they fit my head, 90% of them are shit.

CCMs cage was the fitlite. Don’t think they make a titanium cage anymore though as it was never replaced once discontinued. 😞 I like mine way better than my reakt

I put a cage on after the 2nd puck to my eye. I went with a titanium cage, super light, it doesn't drag my helmet down at all. Look at the Bauer Re-Akt or CCM's version (can't remember the model name/#), they are both nice.

I’ve had my pair for just under a year and my biggest complaint is durability. It’s been awful in my experience. Granted I skate almost exclusively as an official and can sometimes be on the ice for up to 10hrs a day, I take really great care of my skates. The eyelets/tendon rivets constantly come loose. The liner has compacted to almost nothing which has ruined the fit and I’ve got large holes where the tongue rubs the liner near the top two eyelets. Overall pretty disappointed that $1000 skates have a bout a years worth of life. I’d go back to Bauer or try CCM but I’m afraid they can’t replicate the zero negative space fit. Anyone had experience with custom 2X Pros? They looked promising in terms of wrap/ eliminating negative space.

Wow. God sharpeners? And actually it is an art. Offended? Not at all. But when someone like myself that always is looking to improve the way they do things and always is out to help a new sharpener, if it is a parent or an employee kind of a slap to some of us that's for sure. Some of the people I have trained are now. 2 in the OHL: 1 Team Canada 1 Team China (Highest paid female EQM in the world) I take a ton of pride in my job as a sharpener and educator. You want to bash the guys that have been doing it forever go right ahead. Oh, wait that's what Sparx did when they started in their very first Ad Campaign. (Use our machine Pro Shops are useless) I was hoping to come on this thread now and help educate some of the lesser experienced sharpeners as I have had 3 customers that have ruined their steel with a Sparx machine. Seems like the knowledge is not required. Next time maybe use a little less of a wide brush when painting all the experienced sharpeners on the board. Especially the ones that have been here since DAY 1 and before. Have an amazing day!!!! 🙂

Had my drain upsized and they believe that the old drain was leaking into me. That’s what was causing my pain. So hopefully in a few days I will get back to be my normal. Now I need to keep progressing to getting these drains out.

I just hit my 60th hour of use on the newly revised TRUE skates and figured I would post pics of how they are holding up. Overall, for the amount of abuse they take they still look nearly new, aside from the nasty gash I took on one skates holder and a gash I got on the other skate. I put some super glue on it temporarily but will clean it up. The cut was more cosmetic than anything but I didn't want that piece of pleather flapping around. I skate 5-6 times a week. I play on one team in an elite league and sub for a team in another lower division. I also skate drop-in 2-3 times weekly and coach as well so it's fair to use these skates see a decent amount of abuse. I dont know why, but I seem to be a puck magnet and my feet are always getting hammered by shots. Some might ask, why are my insoles black on the heel area, I like to put some rubber grip on them, I have done this for longer than I can remember and while the TRUE skates lock your heel in and it's not really needed old habits die hard.

I completely sympathize because I know how frustrating it can be trying multiple brands and models to just continue to skate in pain. Eventually you just say to hell with it and get traced/scanned. Ill never forget, when I was about 3 years into my adult hockey “career” I had my teammates ask if I had taken skating lessons. I told them nope, I just got skates that didn’t hurt. But apparently the difference was noticeable! One piece of advice for you and everyone else buying Trues: you don’t need to tie them anywhere near as tight as you may be used to. When you have that much wrap you dont need to crank the laces to pull the skate around the top of your foot like you would with other skates.
