The info on this site is almost always correct, and when it’s not I think it’s challenged in a generally polite way. Reddit is lousy with bad advice. There are fairly recent posts with things people suggesting you just need to wear skates more to break them in, and baking them will make them break down faster. Stuff that is just straight up false and out dated. I’ll take the quality of MSH over the quantity of other places.

I find rollerblade skating impossible.... I constantly feel like I'm gonna die.

I'll give my thoughts as somebody who hasn't been a very active member of this community in a few years, mostly since I've only had one season of hockey in all of high school; and putting aside the pandemic for a second, the amount of information on new products has decreased substantially even since I joined MSH. This site has also lived through a transformation of the internet - or it at least seems that way to me because I'm young enough to have never really experienced the internet before 2010 or so - where sleuthing on internet forums is replaced with brands wanting to get ahead of everything and limiting what makes its way out. Everyone's already stated that the amount of genuinely novel innovation in hockey has decreased substantially, which I agree with, and you can only really debate the merits of what curve to use so much (and I would know). This community is definitely still has a lot of knowledge and is really closely knit, there's just less new stuff to apply that knowledge to without disrespecting manufacturers. Just my take, I still enjoy visiting here and hopefully I'll finally be able to go to a MSH event at some point.

Howdy, I look down constantly. However, I also really suck at hockey. 🙂 Friends that have them say that they can use peripheral vision to reinforce good habits though. Mark

Yeah I know. They have everything that should make them a fantastic wheel but they miss the mark compared to the OG. They’re unfortunately a noticeably slower wheel.

I will agree with this. I only bought gear from the LA Kings sales in the early 2000's the prices were less than retail and there was always a lot to go around. Now the sales are online auction style w prices for "collectors". A similar thing happened to the jersey hobby, it has changed dramatically too, when prices were much less than a car payment.

Been lifting and using the eliptical with my son, as well as shooting pucks in the driveway. We got a dog in September (named him Gordie) and he keeps us active. Doesn't like fetch, but wants us to chase him when he has a toy in his mouth. He also really likes hide and seek. So we are getting some sprints in too.

I get too hot wearing my mask after an hour in the grocery store, can’t imagine playing in anything that would impede airflow.

Lost 17 lbs, been walking, jogging and rollerblading... (had to buy rollers... never did that before).

Keep in mind, a lot of the members here have known each other for a long time. They have gathered many times at MSH events and many have been to each other's weddings and the like. What you may see as negativity many times is actually a couple old friends having some fun or tossing out an old inside joke. Often times, there are good natured debates and disagreements which are just that. Remember, tone doesn't always translate well in the written word.

As a member, what do I get out this positive relationship with manufacturers? Not trying to be disrepectful. Ive been a long time member as well and have found myself coming here less and less. I think ive been compelled to post or reply maybe 3 or 4 times in the last few years.

To be fair - gear has stagnated completely and either innovation is at an all time low, or we’ve reached a point of diminishing returns on currently available materials. I have a hard time getting excited about CCM moving their logo from the bottom of the Ribcore shaft to the top, or Bauer adding different pops of chrome every year and calling it a new stick. Protective hasn’t really gone anywhere in about 8 years since the CL line released and skates, aside from steel/holder enhancements haven’t really gone anywhere aside from perhaps better baking results. We’ve also seen a decline in unique products. We’ve been P92/P28/P88’ed to death and quirky stuff like custom Franchise gloves have completely disappeared. Did I also mention that all of this stuff has been increasing in price at an absurd rate? It’s hard to generate buzz when there is nothing to buzz about. /rant.

Konixx pure white for me. I have pure X and they’re more durable and have better grip but they just feel like they bog down.

All aboard! Jumping on the konixx pure train here. I’ve owned a number of other wheels, mostly labeda, and their performance is better then all those. Also very noteable, they do not crack for me anywhere near as easy as other wheels have, so they’ve lasted longer.

I have used a lot of different indoor wheels over the years and Konixx Pure +2 are by far my favourites. They're fast, durable and grip well. I haven't tried the new Pure X yet, but look forward to doing so in the future.
