Hey everyone, I'm a mental performance coach/consultant working in the CHL and with Hockey Canada.Normally at this time of the year I'm deep into playoff prep, but because the league is currently suspended, I've got a bit more time on my hands. If you have any questions about the impact of mental performance on the game, sport psych, developing elite players, etc., feel free to ask away!

Other than the obnoxious bold "CCM" branding I think the skate is rather subdued.

Not when back in the day you covered all the logos by mummifying your ankles with tape!!!

As much as people complain about the aesthetics of modern skates, the giant gold print on those 707s is worse than almost anything anyone is putting out now.

First and last pair of shoulders I have. Bauer Flak. I got them in 1989, when I first started skating in a rink. They're so comfortable that I can't imagine using anything different. My Mother in law is my personal equipment manager. She's sewed up holes and changed the straps multiple times.

He seems to have checked out. Maybe free mental performance advice isn't the way to go for him.

Do you have fitment issues lengthwise? IIRC I always noticed the warrior blade hosel was smaller going into a Bauer shaft. This was for the tapered version, but I could fixed the voids by a layer of tape. Looks like you have the opposite combination where the Bauer blade has a little bit extra material. I bet that blade would fit into a Bauer shaft.

Got a file? File the top of the hosel on the blade down so that it will slide into the shaft easier. Apply lots of heat to the shaft and just enough to heat the glue on the blade. If it still doesn't slide in you need to file down the hosel on the blade, not hard to do, just time consuming. You can file down the inside of the shaft but this weakens it to the point it may fail (depending on how much you file away), advantage of filing the shaft is you can then easily replace the blade.

That was a sweet skate too. Grafs were the bomb when I was growing up, but they were kinda hard to find unless you special ordered them where I grew up.

Shave the blade. Also try heating up the shaft only so the blade hosel doesn't expand from the heat, and only the shaft. Just use enough heat to melt the glue on the hosel but don't heat it to the point that it may cause the wood to expand.
