Yea thats what I thought. Maybe just people who refuse to believe they actually ceased operations.
-
I'll still stick to what's comfortable. The only other mask I'd really consider is the NME10 but I just don't see enough of a difference between the NME8 and NME10 to bother.
-
Gotcha!
-
Wait, what? They're only $90. Aren't you an EMT??

NEW SUPERFEET 'CARBON PRO HOCKEY'

Wait, I must have missed the part about them being bake-able... -
I'm hearing people suggesting they're "just moving production off-shore for now", which sounds like nonsense to me. Anyone confirm?
-
Yea, get yourself a maltese kit. You'll be happy you did :)
-
On the cage? Or on the forehead? The forehead is the safest place to be hit, by far. If the cage, check for dents. If there are any, replace it. Cages are meant to dent! I, on the other hand, was stupid and turned my head and took one right near the ear holes. My head was fine but GOOD GOD were my ears ever ringing. Somebody might as well have shot a gun off right beside my head. SO LOUD.

There's always going to be a "shit happens" factor, too. Also, no mask is concussion-proof. They're made to prevent fracture, not to prevent concussions. And of course, taking one of the mask is never going to feel great.
-
That's fair, we all have preferences. I have two NME8s and couldn't be happier. I wouldn't go with the CCM9000 because I don't find CCM masks to be comfortable. Ideally yes, something full custom would be better. I'd just have to put Maltese in those because I hate masks that have the white/cream foam in them. I find them very uncomfortable. My next mask will likely be a Bauer 950X now that they're using their XRD foam. Tried one on at Winterfest and that XRD foam is super comfortable. Huge fan. Finally the Profile series is something I would consider buying!
-
I disagree with this statement. The NME8 is $400. Though I would agree that I wouldn't go below $400 for sure.
-
That sucks dude :( Hopefully you'll be back out there eventually!

So they ended up suspending the guy that broke my ankle for two games. That's it. Absolutely ridiculous.

I'm impressed by the number of Sharks in shot blockers! -
That blows! I imagine the PT after that would have been brutal! I wasn't at all concerned with how long I'd have the cast... whatever, I have my iWalk and I can just get one of those knee scooter things if I wanted to. It was the PT afterwards I was worried about. But looks like I'll have way less of that than I expected so I can't complain!

I had one behind the net and another on my chin at one point. I had guys going "now you KNOW we're going to be aiming for that thing, now..." I always have one on the end glass, but im thinking of trying one in the net, or from the bench looking at the net. My old one is 720p@60 and the new one is 1080p@60. I don't really have a need for 4K ;)

Broken fibula. No surgery. Totally stable. Could be walking (in the cast) in two weeks. That means less time spent immobile, which in turn means shorter PT and overall shorter recovery. And most importantly, less time before im skating again!

Honestly the suction cup is going to be quicker than anything else especially because you can easily remove/install it with one hand (I never take my hand out of my glove once I leave the dressing room). it will also be a far better angle for learning!
-
Definitely need that suction mount! It's so much better. Can't really see what's going on in your video (especially after your camera angle gets screwed up)
-
Well, I can sort of walk. Like a pirate...
-
I don't get it.

I was at my league game (D5) last night in my splint and crutches. Somebody from the other team came up to me and was like "what happened to you?" I said "got jumped in rookie league." "Oh, man. Never do rookie league!" Starting to agree. Seems the higher level you go the less horseshit that goes on. I missed skating out (switched to full-time goalie last year) so I figured rookie league was thursday nights, which is great, and it might be fun to just get out and have a skate without really giving a damn. I also mistakenly thought it might be fun to for once be in the upper range of skill level in a league (since I've always been in the lower half), but it seems to do nothing but put a huge target on your back. Never again. If I want to skate out, I'll hit a pickup.
-
I was skating out so I didn't bother. Yea, video would have been a good thing.
-
I think the moral of the last few posts is to avoid rookie leagues... Heh.
