First, you guys have fantastic jerseys. You're looking damn good. A whole hell of a lot better than I was by that point. Fairly smooth movements for your level. Keep at it! One thing to consider... edit the play down a touch more. A few too many "nothing is happening" moments. Of course this would be helped with the higher up camera angle, if the idea is to let the viewer see the play develop. Yes, I'm again suggesting the suction cup mount! ;) haha Keep at it. You're doing great!

100% yes keep doing them. Unfortunately I can't really watch at work AND I actually leave my laptop at work through the week these days it doesn't leave me much "screwing around on the internet" time. I guess that's a good thing. I'm still getting used to working a normal 8-5 M-F job. That said, I love your posts, especially a breakdown of mistakes. It's always good to know what was going through your head at the time, even if the answer is simply "mis-read, went down early" or whatever. What do you use to edit your videos, and also what do you use to export GIFs? I love the URLs gfycat assigns! "LonelyAgreeableCaterpillar" ... ROFL. You're right on the slow loading, too. I had considered editing your older posts to add a SPOILER tag around them so they aren't loaded immediately. I think that would work fine, if you chose to go that route in the future.

I'm going to have to heat mine up and open them up. I tried putting them on yesterday and it was impossible. -
Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener

I think it'd be fun sometimes, but yea generally it's a "will be nice to give them a fresh edge while I'm packing up my gear to go play". The fact that I literally just "push play" and walk away is appealing to me. -

Recovery after broken ankle

I'm blown away by how quickly you're recovering. Very jealous. I still can't walk without a cane. Never was able to walk in the boot without pain. I see people walking around in those boots like they werent even wearing one. Crazy. -

I didn't have any surgery. Regardless, the 6 week suggestion is irrelevant thanks to the blood thinners. -
What's with vendors/manufacturers who treat you like crap after they screw up?

10:42 - PING! haha :) This is great, you look fantastic out there. Your depth is pretty good, and your angles (as much as I can tell) is good as well. 11:33 - Down early, you really bit hard on his cut in. Patience, patience, patience! You also over-commit a bit to getting tight to the posts but you recovered quickly across the net on more than one occasion. Nice pushes! Awesome to have another beginner goalies GoPro videos to watch, though! You should consider the suction mount on the glass behind the net so you can see a lot more of whats going on. I normally wouldn't complain about just looking at a girls butt for 30 minutes but in this case I'd rather see your angles and positioning ;) Keep on going, you're doing awesome for only 7 months! A lot further along than I was by that point, FOR SURE.

Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener

That covers both reasons I got one. The sharpenings I get at the rink are inconsistent. One guy is awful, another guy is okay. Either way, the shop is closed almost all of the time that I'm actually there (closes at 5pm, and our games are all 6:30pm or later). That means I go far longer than I would like between sharpening my skates. So that first time on the ice after a cut is awful. So having this machine lets me sharpen before every game with consistency. I use less than the standard number of passes (only about 1 or 2 passes) if they don't appear to have any nicks in them, and the standard cut if they do. It really is the consistency I want. Even if they aren't up to par with somebody who knows what they're doing, they're still better than the bad sharpenings I get locally, and I know what I'm going to get every single time. That said, I'm not sure I'd pay full retail for this thing, I'd probably buy an X01 instead (though not having to learn how to use it and get good at it is a plus for me). But at the Kickstarter price, I'm happy. @JR Boucicaut You'll see the finish this thing produces at WF. It will be my player skates so unfortunately the evenness will probably be crap (you saw how bad my old goalie skates were thanks to the local guy) but you'll get an idea of the finish at least. -
Hopefully they plan on fixing the issues and aren't just delaying the inevitable.

Recovery after broken ankle

11 weeks this Thursday. Went to Ortho today for X-rays. Bone is good. He said any pain i have is weakness not the bone. Gave me the number for PT and said I'm good to go. Said 6 weeks and I'm good for sports. Also said he wants me to wean myself off the ankle brace over the next two weeks or else it will start to hinder the healing. He had me stand on one leg for 10 seconds and said that plus the X-ray tells him all he needs to know. And like I told him... honestly knowing it's structurally sound and the pain is just weakness makes the pain a lot more tolerable because there's no concern about there being something wrong. Looking at around mid September then. That's not so bad. It's just the goddamn blood thinners... that could potentially have me out for the rest of 2016. I hope not. Though I've given up on getting to play this season (just started, runs until mid December). Unless they get me off the thinners sooner than later. Still hurts to walk, but it's improving for sure. -

I didn't know that was the actual difference. Makes sense. Either way, I was really happy with the Fire ring and the Sparx. Maybe someday I'll get to try it again... ugh. -
I've had a red CCCP tretiak jersey in my bookmarks for ages. I need to just say screw it and buy it. And heck, I'm Canadian yet I'd STILL wear it.

We have similar during our pickup. Single siren after 1:30 (change after the next play) and a double siren after 2:00 (change now if not already done). Pickups have two lines at two different skill levels so they do this to to make sure you don't have the two skill levels against each other. Works out really well.
-
I've never heard of keeping score at pickup before, but regardless I think these are awesome!

Keep in mind makos don't fit anything like other Easton skates. Also, they're so heat moldable they should work on just about any foot.

Nothing official yet (and not sure if they've decided on the process yet. It may very well be an invite-only thing. However they said the goal (assuming they get fully funded) is for it to cost nothing. You just have to pay for your own airfare to Argentina.

Nice, I might get a pair.

I'm so close I can feel it... Hoping to try skating next weekend. Just a public skate, since I'm still not allowed to play hockey because of the blood thinners no matter how good my ankle feels. But just a couple laps would make me SO happy right about now. Also I got a message from Passau saying my new pads should be on their way late this week or early next week. Woooo!!!

Recovery after broken ankle
IPv6Freely replied to ThePurpleCobra's topic in General Hockey Discussions
10 weeks since the break. The last two weeks haven't been easy but definitely saw improvement. My first thought when he said I had to walk on my ankle was "no way. There is NO way that's going to be possible..." But I hobbled around, with a cane for support, for the first week of work without my iWalk. It got better and better every day. By the time I hit Sunday, I was walking without the cane, and without pain. However, I think I ended up over-doing it and had a lot of pain in my heel all this week. Not in the ankle at all, but right in my heel. A friend of mine (in his final year to become a physical therapist) said it was likely a mild case of plantar fasciitis. He suggested I do the "scrunch up a towel with your toes" exercise. I told him that was in the list the doctors gave me but I didn't feel like I had any loss of range of motion in my toes so I skipped it. Apparently the doctors knew what they were talking about... go figure. Maybe it's just me who has this issue, but it seems like if the doctors would just explain something instead of just saying to do it, I'd have an easier time with all of this. If the first doctor had said "you need to walk on it because you need stress on it for the bone to fuse" would have gone a long way. If the instructions would say "this is for strengthening the plantar fascia and not actually anything to do with your toes", that would have been helpful. Shrug. Anyway, the doc a few weeks back said he wanted me out of the boot and in a shoe with the ankle brace a week before I came back. That's today. So, I hobbled off to work with my shoe and brace, with my cane (again mostly just for balance, and a tiny bit of support until I get comfortable). Surprisingly, it's significantly less painful all around to be walking on a shoe. I'm guessing because my ankle and toes are able to flex through the step instead of being immobile. I imagine I'm going to need my ice pack tonight, though. (I have one of those WONDERFUL shock doctor ankle ice packs I got way back in the day when my old goalie skates would hurt my inner ankle. It has gel ice packs that go on both sides of the foot, as well as the top of the foot. It's AMAZING. Highly recommended!) Anyway... the end is near(ish)! -
Sold chest protector and neck guard. Just the flyers shell and a bunch of socks left!

Back to back champs!! We had a strong start, 8-1 to start the season. Then a weak second half, going 3-8 with two of those wins in a shootout. Won the last game of the season, beat our bitter rivals in the semis, and won 4-3 in the finals. Sadly, I was not on the ice for most of the last half or either playoff game. I still made sure to get to every game though. After the game was over and the championship was won, there was the usual celebration, then the handshake line, and then immediately a couple guys came to help me out onto the ice for the trophy raising and team photo. That meant a ton to me that that was their first thought. Next week starts the road to the three-peat. Sadly, I'm still off the ice for about another month at the least, and until the end of the calendar year at the most. Hopefully closer to the former ;) Today feels weird without this beard....

Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener

Shame SJ didn't work out for me. I would have had about 3 months worth of sharpening on the blades that you did for me initially. So it would have been a really good comparison.
