  1. Ignore the Sling and pretend it doesn't exist. It has garbage puck feel and a super meh shot. FT5 Pro will crush it in everything but rarity. Weight isn't a big enough difference to really matter, and cut the FT5 Pro down to the Sling's size and it will be closer.
  2. Depending on the True skate I use SuperFeet in them. My customs have SF because if they didn't my toes were constantly jammed to the ends, SF pulls them back and makes the fit better. I am using SF in my Cat Pros for the same reason as above. But in my custom goalie skates it hasn't been needed.
  3. Bauer raised the Sync to be the same height as CCM is.
  4. Yeah... I have heard just the "steel is bent" but I have a hard time believe all of this steel went into the holders already bent and weren't bent over time from improper holder mount...
  5. How much are you toes touching the ends when you are standing and they are tied up? I have been feeling the lack of heel lock in these so far as well when playing, my feet feel like they slide forward too much and I have to crank the laces on the top which kills any forward flex I had. So I am trying to find a balance. For the steel, try and pop the steel out and see if it comes out easily (you should have to pull, but I actually couldn't get the steel out of the pair I had).
  6. Can you show photos for what you are talking about for the eyelets when they are on? You would go through your retailer to fix the issues.
  7. We will see what happens after they see the "Areas of concern" section of the video haha.
  8. I want to clarify, only the full customs I have had in the past had the excess glue/epoxy or whatever it is. The TF line and the Cat line has a lot of that cleaned up.
  9. You can add notes when your order to call out pain points or issues you might have. But I am going to leave that question to a retailer who does True fits and would know better.
  10. Maybe it is a retailer specific thing then? But yeah I never got a message from them saying a scan was ever made or showing the order process.
  11. I never got an email directly in the last few customs I did
  12. My video comparison of the True Catalyst 9 vs Catalyst Pro vs TF9 is now on YouTube. I can't link it here though. There will be an actual on-ice review of the Cat Pro vs previous True Customs in the future but I thought it would be important to get a sizing comparison on the Cat 9 vs TF9. Also of note, people on this forum and online who reached out to True in an attempt to make videos and a review happened are the actual reason I got a chance to get a pair of the Cat Pros and do the videos. So huge thank you to the community for the assistance there!
  13. They fit like Bauer/CCM should! I could fit length wise good in an 8.5
  14. 99% of the people who comment on reddit or facebook have no clue what they are talking about and it is a losing battle trying to correct the awful comments.
  15. As a goalie, the lack of comfort edge REALLY sucks on the True customs.
  16. So, I've used my Sync and brought it out against my Geo and FT5 Pro. Sync is definitely an improvement over the Geo in terms of shot, lower weight and I'd say slightly better balance. Still doesn't shoot as good as CCM sticks do though, but closes the gap. Puck feel is still amazing. I still haven't dialed in if it is more dampened than the Geo, and need a few more skates with it side by side. But every time I use a new CCM stick I question why I loved the Nexus sticks so much... then I go and make a few passes with them and it all comes back. Puck feel is unreal and basically at the other end of the spectrum compared to the Jetspeed, Trigger, and Hyperlite (not saying all of those are the same, Nexus is just way softer).
  17. I've had good experience just running max hot water from the sink through it quite a bit. I've used Oxyclean to get rid of smells as well but might not be needed for this. Basically, run hot water through the insides, rub the insides to makes sure it really gets on the inner materials. Keep running the water through the glove until there is no more discolouration. Then let it drip dry.
  18. Perhaps you are doing something different than the stores that have been talking to me. None of them have the inventory to actually put on sale.
  19. From what I heard from shops, they actually like the yearly releases more than the 2 year cycles as it means they have less of the inventory of the old models so they don't have to clear them out. They also don't have to book as much product from the get go since it doesn't need to last a 2 year cycle. I hate the yearly releases as I don't think there are big enough improvements year over year to actually make significant updates and you end up with gear that was changed just for the sake of it. But I totally understand why they do it and why stores like the yearly cycles.
  20. I know their social media person is no longer with them. Which is probably one of the reasons their socials haven't been updated really. I think the writing on the wall for hockey being done completely was there for a while now. Not sure if the Halo gloves were the last ditch hope or just the last product that was in development. As for the Halo stick, I'd ignore it. It was very light and impressive for weight when it came out, but now every company has a lighter stick. STX also had issues with blade durability on them and had a lot of warranty returns because of it.
  21. According to this PDF. Cat 7 is composite and Cat 5 is Fibreglass. https://acrobat.adobe.com/link/track?uri=urn%3Aaaid%3Ascds%3AUS%3A85882b7e-1b8b-3288-a9dd-53243a6c6bf2#pageNum=11
  22. I have finally done my review on them. I have to make it clear Rezztek sent me 2 player tapes and a goalie tape so I could do a review on them. Puck feel is the biggest change on here, you instantly notice it and it took a dampened blade of a Geo and made it pingy. But the feeling is great and it makes passing and stick handling feel like everything has more zip and is more crisp. I really didn't notice a difference on shots, you notice the more pingy feel but I never noticed a difference on the actual result of the shot itself. If money was no option, I'd use these all the time. But they are just a bit too expensive for me to justify putting on all of the different sticks, I wish they offered a bulk discount on 10 packs to make it more affordable. I was able to remove the tape from one stick to another though after my goalie stick broke with it on. The 2nd application wasn't as good (obviously) and I had to tape an edge down. But it still worked until that stick also unfortunately broke. No, the Rezztek had nothing to do with the 2 sticks breaking. I also got to try the goalie version and I think that version is pretty pointless. You aren't playing the puck enough to justify adding a blade tape to the stick and deflections off your stick aren't really going to make a difference with it or without it.
  23. Literally just put them on for sizing, they weren't cool enough for me to get an idea of the stiffness sorry.
  24. I got a chance to try on (and bake) 8.5R Cat 9 skates. Those skates fit smaller length wise than the 8W I had for TF9. I might be getting a pair of the 9s so if I do I'll be sure to compare the lengths and see how they fit after a proper bake and everything.
