All black/PRO/hockeystickman etc blade feel
mcne0101 replied to nisselrm's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I've always been a Ribcore guy, loved every one of them up until the Ribcore 8 where I think the blade feel is brutal. It was unusable for me. Because of that I decided to give the Hockeystickman pro blackout extra lite a shot. I absolutely love it, the puck feel is very similar to the ribcores of the past. I wouldn't call them overly pingy, they have great puck feel. -
I just got a prostock with a p86 Zegras. Its exactly the shape of a p92 with the p28 toe curve at the end, not sure how else to describe it. I've heard the same about CCM making it a retail curve, I hope they do it.

They had a demo of the new scanner with the new orthotics at the Minnesota State High School hockey tournament in March. My 11 year old tried it out and I was less than impressed with the results. They have you stand on the scanner like the old version, then they have you stride across the scanner which they say scans your gait. They have like 3ish 'stock' orthotic options they fit you into based on the scan. Concept was cool, I thought the results seemed pretty generic as my son's scan came back too big/wide.

This was the email with the ad, looks like it ran the first couple weeks of October.

The steel didn't have a profile, it was pro stock but unused. The sale allowed you to add a profile and sharpening of your choice for free.

It was a pro stock blade sale. You could email them and see if they still would honor it. My guess they have a bunch of excess inventory of pro stock pulse blades their trying to unload before the new bauer holder takes over the world.

Not sure how to quantify stability from a profile. I've never really felt any more or less stable from a skate profile. I hear you on the expense. I actually tried it because Tydan was running a sale on steel which included free profiling. I got 280 LS Pulse Ti XL edge runners with the profile and a sharpen for $69.99.

Feels like there is more blade contact, felt faster/better acceleration.

I switched to the Atomic K-Cut from Quad 0 and I like it quite a bit more. Can't really tell you why, it just feels right.

Anyone try the Powerfly holders yet?
mcne0101 replied to pucks_putts's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
These look like an updated version of the old Mission holders from the early 2000's. -
I'm seeing a Jetspeed with an R shaft geometry pro stock code, anyone have any idea what that is? Below are the options from the forum thread everyone links to. I've never seen the R before. Shaft Geometry C - Contoured Shaft (Round) F - Round and thicker than C T - Traditional Shaft (Square, like a totalone) Tr - Traditional slightly Concave

VH Footwear/TRUE by Scott Van Horne

I don't get why people are so fired up about both sides of this argument. I agree with both sides for the most part. On one hand people believe if you pay $800+ for skates you shouldn't have to clean up the glue, that should have been done by the manufacturer. On the other hand people are saying skates are made for performance, if the performance is great and the construction is great....who cares about the glue showing. its different strokes for different folks, no need to get angry at the opposing opinion. -

2014 Easton Hockey Catalogue
mcne0101 replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in 2014 Product Catalogue Reviews
NOOO they lost another life long Easton user by getting rid of the E7. CCM has the Lecavalier and Bauer has the p12 through custom order but that's it. Do we have any insight as to why they're getting rid of it? It seems like it sells pretty well? Also, a more philosophical question....why are all the curves so huge now? The iggy curve was like the only resort for a mild curve and a blade that isn't so long.
