  1. True, but this combined with my chronic depression and OCD makes everything worse than the normal person. Isolation just exacerbates those two issues immensely. ^^^This is the only thing keeping me going. I know everything will work out (it usually does) and I get to do something I know I will love.
  2. I really need a change of scenery. I've honestly never felt so alone before. I am so busy with school that I hardly have anytime to work (which means I literally have no money). I am grateful for my parents being able to help me out (free lodging), but because I have no money, I'm pretty much isolated to my house. I take my MCAT in September and then send my primary applications to my target schools. Hopefully I am out of here in the months that follow that. I'm miserable.
  3. Now if we can just get the damn cable companies to stop throttling our internet. Can't wait for Google Fiber.......
  4. Put these together for a buddy today. Pro stock Scott Gomez Ribcor skates
  5. Well, looks like I was wrong. I AM using an AMT Trainer at my gym. I had never heard of that, so I assumed it was just an elliptical. Great machine.
  6. Yes, it's an awkward movement if you are new to it. I remember using for the first time in college and feeling the same way. Once your body adapts (which took a few times for me) the movement is effortless.
  7. As per my rep, the LKP sticks are still available in the T series.
  8. So I would update this with my extended X800 experience. I picked up an 87 flex and everything is MUCH, much better. I think part of the problem I was having with the blade was that the stick was whipping when I was stickhandling and catching passes (you can see the whip in the video I posted). Everything is much crisper with the 87 flex. It's still not amazing, but it's acceptable. The stick shoots rockets and has a great release. I will continue to use them. You cannot beat this stick for $129. It's just not possible. However, I would advise you move up a flex when purchasing. I usually use 77's.
  9. Exactly. I was pushing myself (heart rate was above 150 the entire time) but I was enjoying it, so it didn't seem like work.
  10. Exactly. I was forcing myself to run and hating every minute of it. This is miles better.
  11. Finally found a machine that makes cardio fun. Mr. Elliptical and I are now best buddies. Burned 350 calories the other day and they were the easiest calories I've ever burned.
  12. 20 seconds? Yeah.....not. Try 10 minutes. Longer if they are rusted. I wish everyone would just incorporate an anchor system like Graf does.
  13. Organic Chemistry. It's so much better than General Chemistry, but it still sucks. Newman Structures will be the death of me.
  14. Just an update. Used my X800 again and really like it. The release is awesome. It plays whippier than a 77, so I am getting a bit of torquing. I have also gained 30 lbs (the gym has its benefits) so I'm sure that has something to do with it.. I weigh 188 lbs. I still don't care for the blade at all, but I'm adjusting.
  15. At the gym. On my last rep on the bench and can't quite get it. Call for a spotter. Guy comes over, and what does he do you ask? Grab the middle of the bar like a normal person would do? NO. He proceeds to grab one of the ends of the barbell and proceeds to pull it up, effectively throwing me completely off balance. I honestly don't know what to do at this point, so I hold on in hopes he will figure it out. Finally, after yelling at him to grab the middle of the bar, he obliges and we bring the weight back up. My left oblique is now killing me. Hopefully it's just a pull. Idiot.
  16. The website is incorrect. The P28 is marked as a Lie 6 by Bauer. It only comes in one lie, per the cataloge.
  17. It was too long. I honestly lost interest about halfway through. I think it was all of the fluff between skits that did me in.....
  18. Anyone watching the SNL 40 year special? Pretty entertaining so far.
  19. Just got off the rink with the X800. My thoughts: VERY low quick release. I like that a lot. Stick has a good amount of pop too. Plays significantly whipper than the last gen Vapor series, which I prefer. The stick is also very balanced. Now for the bad part..... The puck feel is atrocious. It's just about non existent. There were multiple times where I had to physically examine my blade because I thought it was broken. It just feels numb. If you have problems with looking down at the stick when you have the puck, this is going to make it worse. There were 2 or three times where I tried to load the puck off of the toe of the stick, but it wasn't where I thought it was and the puck ended up getting flubbed. I felt the same thing when handling the 1X. It seems like they're going back to the X:60 like blade (all ping and nothing else) Bottom line is that it's a very nice stick for the price, but the Nexus and the Supreme have it beat by miles when it comes to puck feel. Could it be that it's the $129 stick and that's why it doesn't feel so crisp? I don't know, but it's not a good sign. Looks like Bauer took materials away from areas in order to make it lighter. I'll take a stick with a quality blade that's slightly blade heavy over something that feels like a marshmallow. FWIW, my favorite stick I have used lately is still the STX Stallion 500.
  20. Yeah for sure. The Supreme 170 is our best selling stick for that $110 price point. I just think the X800 outdoes it.
  21. You all are going to be VERY pleased with the Vapor sticks this year. Every model from the $59 up to the 1X is quality. The X800, which is a $129US price point comes in at 479 grams (P92, thanks IceWarehouse.com for the weight) and feels like a top end stick. For reference, by DT1LT weighed 470g (Yakupov 75 Sr). I was blown away when we got our stock in the other day. I think it's the balance that really takes these sticks to another level. Ill even go on a limb and day the X800 will be the best selling stick this season. It really feels THAT nice.
  22. Your going to get different answers across the board. Better skaters can use shallow hollows more efficiently because they know how to use their edges. I skate on 1" and I weigh 185 lbs, but even when I was 170 lbs I skated on a hollow around that general area (7/8"). I can't skate on anything lower than 5/8" or I will chatter when I stop. To answer the other part of your question, yes weight can have a significant impact on the skater due to weight and skill level. Generally, the heavier guys like much shallower hollows so they don't "stick" to the ice (no speed), or so they don't rip the ligaments out of their knees when they try to stop.
