Damn, I wanted to be the first to do this! How was the mount of the Magnesium frame? They look great!
-
I think we should put this to rest before it begins. No, Bauer OD1N skates will not be available custom.
-
Exactly. I just purchased new wheels/bearings, plus I like the RR Splits better than the Addictions so I could do without them.

Justin, what is the difference between the RPD Shift and the RPD Max? I feel like these could solve my fat forefoot problem, but the difference between the two is $250, which is a lot of money. The only differences I see are the wheels, bearings, frames, and the liner (AEPE vs Hyper Light). Is this it? Also, would you care to share what makes the AEPE different from the Hyper Light?

Custom Skates / Ice to Inline Conversion
kovalchuk71 replied to cougarscaptain87's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
If you have a Bauer/Mission frame, no hole widening was even needed. Fit like a glove. I did one of the conversions for a member on here...- 2845 replies

Custom Skates / Ice to Inline Conversion
kovalchuk71 replied to cougarscaptain87's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
Thanks. Yeah we will see how the coppers hold up. I don't think it will be a problem though. And yes, I had to do the same thing with Sprungs. They needed much harder wheels....- 2845 replies

Custom Skates / Ice to Inline Conversion
kovalchuk71 replied to cougarscaptain87's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
Honestly, I felt like I lost speed the Sprungs, so I stopped using them. And I personally mounted them, and I just chose to use coppers for the strength. Some of the holes were really close, so I felt coppers were necessary. I have since epoxied all of the holes.- 2845 replies

No shims. Everything layed relatively flat. The holes were close though.- 2845 replies

Custom Skates / Ice to Inline Conversion
kovalchuk71 replied to cougarscaptain87's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
A lot of work. Not completely finished yet. Just an interesting fact, these skates weigh in a 1094 grams each. Stupid light. This is compared to my Bauer X:60 Skates, which weigh 1217 grams each. ~125g difference.- 2845 replies

Just got mine today and am glad I went with them. Holy cow, they are the most comfortable skate I have EVER put on my feet. The comparison to running shoes couldn't be more correct. When I took them out of the oven and put them on for the first time, it felt like I was putting my feet inside my Asics. Can't wait to skate on them this weekend!

Got a call today from an old coach to play in the DI division at NARCh Finals in Toronto (The top Roller Hockey tournament around), which means I will be playing against some of the best players in the world. While I am extremely excited, I am also very nervous, as I haven't quite played at this level before. I think the most humbling part of the entire moment was the fact that someone had enough confidence in my game to give me the opportunity. Really makes me feel good, as I consistently doubt myself/put myself down. Being called "Cool, calm and collected" really put a huge grin on my face.

Did they make the heel less wide?
-
Just for anyone who is curious, when I mounted a pair of Mission Magnesium frames onto CA9 RPD's, the holes lined up almost perfectly. Only needed to widen a couple.

Wait, so if a skate isn't as stiff as a cast, then it isn't "stiff"? Oh okay, that clearly makes sense. You guys serious?

Just a little bit of flex from the Mako II...I think I need to move up to the 85.

Custom Skates / Ice to Inline Conversion
kovalchuk71 replied to cougarscaptain87's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
A magnesium frame will crack, but it is highly unlikely that it will bend. The aluminum the skate manufacturers use is unlikely to crack, but will bend.- 2845 replies

Custom Skates / Ice to Inline Conversion
kovalchuk71 replied to cougarscaptain87's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
It's not all about the weight difference though. It's about the rigidity. The aluminum will bend, while the magnesium will not.- 2845 replies

Thanks Justin. I was just more concerned with the mounting holes from the Alkali frame possibly being close to the new holes that would have to be drilled.
