  1. I simply meant the removal process. it’s finicky to hold the mechanism back enough to be able to pull out the steel. Compared to Bauer and CCM it’s a pain
  2. CCM XS and Bayer Powerfly. Pretty sure that’s it
  3. New SVH skates look good. I agree about the holder too, but damn True’s release mechanism is the worst
  4. Love the throwback look from the shell to the liner
  5. Prototypes of the new Warrior skates. They’re prototypes, but eesh not a great looking leak
  6. Thanks for the info guys. True also told me wides were 3-4mm wider compared to regular. I’m not going to mess around and just hope the place can do right and get me the proper size
  7. So… how much wider are wides? Got a pair of 9x4 for about 40% off, but was shipped my size in Wide, not Regular. I don’t have super narrow feet, but have always worn D/Regular skates. Haven’t baked them yet, but they seem to feel about right pre-baking compared to all the other True skates I’ve owned. In the event the seller cannot get me Regular width skates, I’m wondering how much wider the wides are or if the heat moldability is great enough that I can get them to wrap/fit close enough to Regular? That or give me a tiny bit of wiggle room without being too big
  8. I'm not, but could have a colleague in Toronto pick them up for me. I don't see a F&F offer on their site. Am I missing a 25% off code? If I'm mathing correctly, that would be just under $800USD after taxes. edit… looks like that promo ended on September 18th. Bummer
  9. Exactly. And I’ll be swapping holders so that’s another cost on top of the increased price. Maybe there will be a Black Friday sale
  10. No, no. Just trying to find a pair below retail
  11. Anyone got a connect for 9x4 skates? Looking to upgrade
  12. A guy on my team has been using the i2 on his SVH skates for the last 1.5 years. He seems to really like them, but I haven't had a more in depth conversation about the them since he originally had them installed.
  13. I wonder if any True athletes will wear them? Off the top of my head I can’t think of any players that wear True pants
  14. While I didn't know Anthony personally, he was always a pleasure to speak with on the forum. My condolences to you and your family
  15. For recent shins I like the FT4. The FT6 fit strange. If you wear 15’s I have a pair of FT4 (non pro) available
  16. As stupid as it sounds, this is one thing that annoys me to no end with the CCMs. Yes, it's a me problem and not a skate problem, but more times than not I either tie them too tight or not tight enough. With the Trues, I never have that issue for the same reason you said
  17. The memory foam like padding of the FT6 (and I imagine the XF) just feel super nice to put your feet into. I also like how flexible the tendon guard is and the tongue is great! But try as I might for the last 4+ months of skating on them exclusively, the first game I put the Cats back on I immediately felt better on the ice. Like you said, I feel more connected to the ice with Trues. They're extremely comfortable to wear, it's just a different kind of comfort. No, never skating SVH customs. Have teammates that wear them, but my feet are pretty normal so I never felt the need. Funny, I just watched a video of a pro player talk about his gear and when he held up his Cat Pros he commented on how light they were. Whereas every internet warrior looks at a spec sheet and rants about how many more grams True skates are compared to Bauer/CCM. It's gonna take a lot more than a some minuscule weight savings to make me a better player
  18. I tried FT6 pros after skating in various True models over the last 4 years. The FT6s are the most comfortable skate I've ever owned as far as plushness/padding is concerned, but I've gone back to the True Cat Pros. As much as I was hoping to move away from True, nothing feels as good as they do
  19. Both skates have the same steel and same holders installed. But I hear what you’re saying
  20. This doesn’t directly answer your question, but if you’re able to get ahold of a pair of XF skates, here is the height of an FT6 Pro boot with step black steel from the floor to the top of the cuff. Size 8.5R
  21. Always thought this thread was fun/interesting. Swapped out pretty much everything but shins, elbows, and cage late 2020, early 2021. Haven’t changed much since, but looking at it I’m surprised I’ve moved so heavily toward CCM. Helmet: CCM Tacks X w/ Bauer Reakt cage Shoulders: CCM CL Elbows: CCM QL Gloves: CCM HGJS Pants: CCM Super Tacks girdle Shins: Bauer 1X Skates: True Sticks: Pro stock CCM Trigger 6 Pro and custom PSHS
  22. That looks similar to the original helmet I had where the lattice structure broke down. Turned a kind of transparent brown and began to crack. Not to that extent, it was just the rear portion underneath the inner CCM logo
  23. I had one helmet where the lattice structure on the rear started to degrade, but my primary helmet that I've been using for a year and a half has had zero issues. Think the original helmet I had was cared for poorly which may have lead to the breakdown of materials
  24. Surprised they did a full heel seam with the new Cat line (presumably for durability), but not with these. Just what appears to be a bit of added something on the lower part. So in 5 years they’ll have had shift holders, shift max holders, and now these holders?
  25. Hit up the LHS to check out the new Cats. They only had SVH and Cat Pros on display, but thankfully they did have 9x4 in stock in the back. No 7x4 so I couldn’t compare the two. Tried on the 9x4 and it seemed well made compared to my Cat Pros. More interestingly, they had the 3D tongue on display which I was stoked to check out. The lattice structure was soft/squishy like a Tacks X helmet, but the t-guard portion was substantially stiffer/hard. Would really like to try them out, but I’d be concerned about durability. On the display tongue the velcro bit was glued on and already peeling.
