  1. I’m a 10 in MLX, but they upsized the holders on those, so it’s 296. In TF I’m pretty sure I’m a 9, which I think is 280. I can do that range, but it is a pretty big drop.
  2. He’s still on E-Pros! Has the screws anyhow.
  3. @Vet88 are you saying that ideally one should not have any ankle eversion when the leg is loaded for a push or that it makes it harder for people who do pronate to learn to skate initially due to the complications introduced by their pronation?
  4. Why is that? Can you elaborate on what it looks like and why it's an issue?
  5. Most 2-pc. elbow buckets are descendants of Jofa’s JDP 2-pc elbows, especially in the cap design. That kind of cap limits range of motion so you can almost, but not quite, fully extend your arms unless you cheat the straps (many people do) and sacrifice their anti-slip fit. 3-pc. elbow buckets don’t have the same degree of hyperextension protection.
  6. Ah. I didn't think those were true FT2s, just dressed up JetSpeeds with pretty much his usual specs and the newer graphics package. From the photos I can find of that crash game, it's hard to tell. His "FT2s" had pleather instead of the standard g-string facing, so they're already somewhat visibly modified to his spec. I would bet these had an outsole as well, though it's hard to be certain. Pausing the crash video at 0:41 you can see it's just dark grey instead of full color like the FT2 had which makes me think it's the JS outsole. Link to that shot:
  7. It’s hard to say from a few photos. The toe cap looks rounder and beefier than the JetSpeed cap. The top of the boot and liner appear to differ from stock ASV spec. Has he previously worn a one-piece boot in a game before? I’ve seen footage of him at a charity scrimmage in some one-piece Tacks, but not any of him in NHL action.
  8. It was clearer from the highlights than the photos from the Sens game, I was just too short on time to take a screen shot and post it. IMO he looked a bit thrown by the boots—not quite as in command and attacking with his skating as he normally is. That made me wonder if these are too stiff for him.
  9. McD in the new Tacks, first I’ve seen him in a game with a one piece boot.
  10. Did you kick your heel back in them? I’ve found you really have to aggressively sink your heel back in the pocket when molding SVH boots, as they’re so deep in the heel. It really snugly holds the top of your heel bone if you get it right.
  11. Would you share what information you’ve found? What do you think their ratings do represent?
  12. Totally agree. I just think a sizable chunk of the potential custom-buying-parents market would put stock in their ratings.
  13. Super Tacks X has the worst score on the VT lab’s impact testing.
  14. I finally found the upcoming catalog. MSRP wasn't printed in the version I saw, but I'm confused about why there would be significant price increases. Maybe I'm just skeptical of the marketing--they are introducing new "tech" which I'm sure they'll point to regarding price. It just looks like a lot more of the same, though, only amped up a tiny bit here and there, mostly in ways that repel me, but they're not out to get skeptics like myself.
  15. HP70 is a Tackla clone, if I'm not mistaken. Love my Tacklas, which is why I'm interested in some HP70s.
  16. The translated text claims this is the finished graphics package. Bauer finally listened after teasing so many nice looking minimally cluttered prototype skates that looked far better than their finished counterparts.
  17. I would take a look at True TF7s. They’re cut very similarly to Grafs, with a boot height quite a bit lower than other brands. The stock holder is also aggressively pitched, which it sounds like you appreciate from your G5’s. TF9s are similar, just with a bit stiffer and lighter shell, thinner tongue, Clarino liner and fancier steel. TF7s are a steal for their price in my opinion.
  18. What would you say is the main price driver? Also, a stick is more than a pile of materials.
  19. My guess is the Shift holder's forward pitch and small size (because the boots run very large) puts a lot of people on the upward curving toe rocker of the blade when they're used to having more "flat" there to balance on...pretty much the opposite to having the toe of new blades ground down to feel more natural a decade+ ago.
  20. Please share when you find the comparative weights. I love the HP70 fit, so I’m keen to know how it stacks up.
  21. Erik Cole and Matt Cooke as well. Don’t know of any current players.
  22. I met a former Swedish pro from the Toronto area who said he loved Grafs “because their radius is so short I can just spin like a top on them.” I didn’t have the heart to tell him Cobras had the longest stock profile on the market.
  23. Thanks for the info! Luckily, I'm at a new club where we have a ProSharp 1001, and I get my skates done at 25mm now, which is fine, but I'm thinking of going down to 30 maybe once I get some issues with my skates fixed. I'm thinking of getting my own dressing tool, so I can try out different combos with the Z-Channel. There's at least one other guy who wants to try it, but none that I know of that have actually dressed the wheel for that yet. In Copenhagen, there are only two shops and the one I used to live closer to wouldn't redress their wheel. The other one will, but now I don't need to go there for sharpening anymore either. Have you tried Z-Channel yet? What hollow, channel, radius are you skating on?
  24. How did the original Synergy shoot? Was it low-kick because of the T-Flex taper?
