  1. I think Hunwick should sit for a game or two and give Boychuk another chance. I didn't think he looked bad at all on that road trip. The injuries are hurting for sure but the forwards have to do a better job of going to the net and creating better chances. And the D have chip in more. Morris has looked good but no one else has stood out back there. I can't imagine Chirelli is going to do anything crazy this early in the season. If anything I could see him make a move for a Defenseman possibly Frerence.
  2. No Red Sox fans(in general) tend to just want to make sure everyone knows that they are Red Sox fans and that whatever team isn't the Red Sox, suck. Obviously, there are fans from every team that feel that way too... but the Red Sox fans seem to have cornered that market. I don't want you to think that I meant all Red Sox fans, it's just the fans I've known and dealt with. I know a few Yankees fans that are the same way. *shrug* That is so true. In the early part of this past season when they beat them 8 times in a row All you heard was how the Yankees wasted there money how the Red Sox were so superior. Most of those fans will swear they never said that. Then follow that statement with "How Yankees fans are so annoying." When the truth is there is very little difference between the band wagon "Red Sox Nation" fans and the band wagon Yankee fans. I also love the Red Sox fans who are crying this week that it's no fair that the Yankees can spend more than everyone else. It's funny how they don't complain when they beat the yankees. And John Henry is the best, he only brings up money issues when he losses out on a player to the Yankees.
  3. Hopefully playing a struggling wings team can spur some offense. The inconstancy is hard to understand. One game they look great then they look lackadaisical the next. It's early and they have key injuries but if they could pump in a few more goals they'd be winning the close games. On Versus tomorrow night and I've got my fingers crossed: no Joe Beninati. Besides Jack Edwards he's just awful.
  4. Surprisingly no. Savard on LTIR & Trent Whifield rcalled
  5. I can't see that being the case. Either another move is coming or Savard is getting an extension. I agree, he just opened up a little under 2 mill. in cap space. Something else has to be in the works.
  6. Ott out for a week Hopefully this will help Keep Jack from getting to excited. If were lucky maybe he will go on about why he doesn't like composite sticks.................
  7. they would be if they didn't trade it for kessel.. lol...Boston is in the Taylor Hall sweepstakes. they must be popping champagne bottles there right now. were on pace to go 0-82-1 this is horrible. i cant believe we paid so much for komisarek too. he seems like a cheapshot artist that picks on and only hits smaller guys... i am wondering what the over/under on wilson is right now, if he cant get these guys playing... i think maybe the guys are giving up on the coach? what do you guys think? He was like that against the Bruins last year at least. He was more than happy to push Savard or Kessel around until Chara or Lucic showed up. The previous year he looked like a great defensive defense man who could shut down the opposing teams top line.
  8. Who'd have thought "gumby" was that essential? I think the Begin/Yelle thing is a wash. Time will tell though. I think the pk will come around. They haven't been consistent in any one game except the win over the Canes. As bad as they have looked at times in there losses there have been spots in those games where they have dominated. And for the love of god I hope Jack Edwards doesn't keep harping on last years game with the Stars on Friday night. I wish NESN would replace him with a better play-by-play announcer when his contract runs out.
  9. And Kessel thought Julien was a pain to play for. All I can say is good luck.
  10. Boychuck should definitely get a look tonight. Hunwick and Stuart have struggled as a unit. I think Hunwick must be putting a lot of pressure on him self because he has looked nothing like he did at the end of last year. My guess is Rask should get the start tonight as well.
  11. B's sign Lucic to 3 year extension. Good news.
  12. I don't believe there was any intent on the play. That is the danger of making a late cut-back on a guy lined up for a hit. If you watch the replay I believe Cole makes contact with the back of Wideman's leg. It looked as though Wideman was reacting to the move Cole made on him. I really don't think it was dirty.
  13. It was very similar to the Stars game last year. That is one of the things you can count on with this team. They stand up for one another and don't take crap from anyone. What was Jay Harrison & Tom Kostopoulos thinking when they took on Lucic & Chara?
  14. Tough loss last night. They looked real good for most of that first period and then seemed to play flat the rest of the night. The Caps were flying & were much better last night. I expect a really good effort Saturday.
  15. I agree about Ference he looked like he wasn't 100%. Lashoff was given every chance to be a NHL regular & repeatedly showed he couldn't handle it. So that news isn't very shocking.
  16. Did anyone see Saturdays preseason game? My biggest worry going into the season is defense. Ference looked awful IMO. He looked a step behind most of the night. Two of Columbus's goals were giveaways by Ference. I hope they are deep enough on the blue line. I upfront they will be fine. They will feel the loss of Kessel. But I think with Sturm and Bergeron being fully healthy (fingers crossed), they should make up most of the difference. T minus 4 days until opening night.
  17. The Leafs are the closest team in North American sports to the Red Sox, in terms of frenzy of media and fans. Actually, they may be worse now, since they haven't won in 40 years. It makes it difficult for them to play their best, because every mistake becomes a crisis. You couldn't more right. Every win or loss is blown way out of proportion.
  18. This is truly the one downside of the cap. The fact that there isn't a way to keep a young player like Kessel kinda sucks. I understand Kessels point of view to & if he can get that kind of contract I guess he should be able to. You really can't blame him. Although I wish he would've taken a short term deal and stayed with the B's. I guess Chiarelli got as good of a deal as he could. At least he didn't have to disrupt the team by trading someone. Nothing personal but I hope the Leafs aren't good for a couple of years. At least for the Bruins to get the best possible draft picks.
  19. From the B's sale. B's Practice jersey I wanted a size 54 and it was either #63 or Schaefer # 72.
  20. Today is a special day in my life. Two years ago today I received the gift of life. I had a living donor liver transplant. I have been blessed to be able to enjoy the things a lot of people may take for granted. You always hear people who come close to death and say it changes there life, but you really can't describe what it's like. My wife will sometimes tell me things from when I was very sick in the months before my transplant. My doctors told her that I may not make it and to be prepared to talk to my daughter. In May of 07 I couldn't focus enough to dial a phone or read. At the time I never really realized how sick I was, but when hearing stuff like that I now know how lucky I am. In the last couple of years I try to enjoy the little things that I may not have normally. I remember taking my daughter to her first movie. I remember playing with my daughter and running for the first time. And then being so exhausted that I couldn't imagine how I was going to be able to play hockey again. I returned to work about five months after my transplant. Then six months and three days after the surgery I got back on the ice. I can still remember the ride to the rink, getting dressed, and skating that first lap around the ice. When I walked into the locker room that night there was a guy that I had skated with for five or six years in my pickup group. He says to me "Where the hell have you been?" I told him a had a liver transplant and he says "That's it?". It still makes me laugh when I think about it. As much as I missed playing hockey it was the friends I skate with that I missed the most. Whenever I have a bad day or I am bummed about something I try and take a deep breath and remember that I shouldn't even be here.
