    nope, that is (I assume) the new tendon guard. the back of it says True. my gf's not crazy about the blue. I told her that we can always color it in with a black paint sharpie.

    a few things I've added the last few months....... always wanted some yellow outline Bruins Franchise: right middle, finally added a 4th to my Kovy collection: 1998 Team USA Olympics pants. planning to convert these into a shell.....

    the Sparx is basically a fully contained unit. I've had a Wissota hooked up to a shopvac for years and while it helps keep the dust down it doesn't capture probably even half of the dust. the Sparx is catching virtually all of it. those of us who got in on the Kickstarter pricing got a HELLUVA deal.

    me too! I'm fanatical about even edges. it's a big reason why friends have me sharpen their skates rather than the shop at the rink.

    because I feel like being a show-off, current pics of my growing shell collection: *Devils and Surrey minor hockey shown twice to make collage pics even numbers this is probably about 85% of what I've been looking for. still have a few teams left to go..... :)

    that depends on your situation. I bought a Wissota over 10 years ago for somewhere in the $600-$700 range. here in ATL the rink shops are notorious for doing poor sharpenings. at that time we only had one non-rink shop in town and it was probably 35 miles from my house and not open on Sundays. if you couldn't get up there on Saturday you were SOL and of course at a 70 mile round trip we couldn't just leave our skates if they were busy so we invested in the Wissota and not only did our own skates but also did skates for teammates and friends at $5 per. the machine has paid for itself several times over just in the $5 charge not to mention the savings in gas and the wear and tear on my car.
