Those XXXX's came out great. I love the red highlights. That's how hockey skates should look, not all grey and white and shiny but black. Seeing how nicely that came out I may be tempted to experiment on my brand new One75's to get rid of the silver up near the tendon guard... hmmmm.
-
I have the same feelings about my one65's, amazing skate I just don't care for all the silver and whatnot, wish I could have gotten the one95 look just didnt feel like paying that much I think I may black the silver heel out sooner or later, that should help a little bit. On a performance note, I had them sharpened and rockered today and tried out my new sole brand insoles, it made a pretty huge difference so I'm pretty psyched.
-
It's just b/c they are in fact, real sexy :P The pic quality doesn't hurt though... was shot w/ my D40 with a 50mm 1.8 lens, it's a super crisp lens and has the effect of slightly blurring everything but the subject (more or less depending on settings and skill, I'm still practicing). I skated on them again last night and felt like I was skating on ski's. I think I'll be heading to my LHS to get some profiling done, maybe give a 9/10 a shot.

Yes lefty and yes you're correct it's a One50, my bad. Almost positive it has a PM9 curve on it and it's an 87 flex. It'll probably be collecting dust along w/ the S11 since I didn't care for either. SL is 85 flex, Forsberg curve. S11 is 85 flex, Heatley curve. Mission is 75 flex (almost the same as the 85 on the SL), Sundin curve.

New skates, Bauer One75's. These fit like a glove and I'm just getting used to the LS2 holder & steel since I've been on Custom+ for about 20 years. The only gripe I have is cosmetically, I'm not a fan of all the silver junk and the clear One75 logo on the top, oh and I'm used to thick tongues so the thin black tongue just looks weird to me. New Mission Ti stick (from last year), love this stick so far. Also my Synergy SL, one of my 2 Z-bubbles (which may be about 10 years old by now), an S11 hiding in there and a Bauer One55 which was used for all of 5 minutes (it was my first OPS experience when I started playing hockey again and I hated it, wish I knew about this site at that time)

This is all I have right now and it's from 9-10 years ago (only pieces of equip. I still have are the Flak shoulder pads and the Bauer girdle, oh and I still have that Z-bubble stick... just got new skates last week and replaced the helmt a couplemonths ago). The team I was on was an independant team made up of guys I graduated high school with and some others who were in their first years of college with no where competitive to play, we played games against midget teams, local college teams and junior C teams (before just settling to be a mens league team the following year... I give my old high school coach a lot of credit for going out of his way to give us an extra couple of years to play together at a competitive level), this was at some junior C tourney in NJ or PA I keep trying to get my fiancee to take some shots of me playing mens league but she either "forgets" to or just doesn't go to the games since they're so late at night. I'll see what I can do to convince her to take some.

I love At the Drive-in, they were pretty ground breaking and innovative for their time. The Mars Volta are amazing musicians but I've never gotten into them, I'm not a big fan of that style of music so it doesn't do much for me. -
Just trying to help out my fellow msh'ers man.. LOL... You looking for bruins pants?.. i think there are a pair of XL bauer ones brandnew some where in toronto for 35$.. not sure if they're still available.. but look it up on craigslist (thats where i saw it).. you may be able to find it if it hasn't already expired. No I've got my black Tackla shells from college which just have a small "Pioneers" embroidered on them and my # so I'm fine w/ them, I'm looking for the yellow Bruins Rbk Edge pro socks. I may end up ordering a set of the retail version in the meantime but would really love to have a pair of the pro ones.
-
shhhhh don't give away the source  j/k I've picked up a pair of Phoenix Edge socks from him and am always checking his auctions for antyhing of interest, he's usually got some good stuff. My mens league team just picked up some Bruins practice jerseys so now I'll be on the hunt for some yellow Bruins Edge socks, those Yotes ones got me hooked.

LOL I read the whole thing and kept thinking it was top farfetched, and finally saw "the onion" and felt dumb. Yea the onion is some good entertainment... and as far fetched as that story sounds I actually knew a couple of guys back in the day that were probably the inspiration for the story, it made it all that much funnier for me and was pretty tough not to burst out in laughter at my cubicle while reading it.

Branches also made a beige glove back in the 90's which was really cool.

I <3 Zooey, if it wasn't her singing then I'd never listen to She & Him (which aren't bad, very mellow so you really have to be in the mood for it). She's actually engaged to the singer from Deathcab for Cutie/The Postal Service. Hmm I haven't read all the pages so I apologize if any of these have been mentioned/discussed (I'll try to keep it to newer less popular ones): The Gaslight Anthem. www.myspace.com/thegaslightanthem Great rock band heavily influenced by the likes of Bruce Springsteen. Teenage Bottlerocket www.myspace.com/teenagebottlerocket Sure they completely ripped off the vocal style of The Ramones but they do it so well, definitely a great upbeat band you can listen to before playng hockey. Chuck Ragan www.myspace.com/chuckragan He was the singer of Hot Water Music and this is his solo album, very mellow w/ folk influences, songs are written really well and it's an addicting album. Attica!Attica! www.myspace.com/atticaattica ex singer of Marathon, I'd put this next to old Against Me! for it's very well written low-fi protest songs. Grey Area http://www.myspace.com/greyareanyc excellent nyc post hardcore (melodic hardcore) band from the late 90's, they're in the same vein as Kid Dynamite and Lifetime. Easily one of my favorite bands, I've seen them more times playing "reunion shows" than I did when they were still an active band. That's all for now, I'm sure I'll chime in with lots more later. edit for adding links -
I was thinking about bidding on them too but was broke at the time so decided not to. I love all the Easton 4 rolls and also the Rbk branded 4 roll bottom left bottom pic... who actually makes that glove? I've been eyeing the Phoenix pro stock one on hockey monkey, just wish it was a bit cheaper.

close... a 50mm f/1.8 Nikon(series E from about 20 yrs ago), the 1.4 is too baller for me They take great pics of equipment though.
-
I completely forgot I had this and figure it sort of fits in here, although it's nothing I'd ever use since it's more of a collectible to me... Adam Graves used stick, don't remember if it's from a game or practice b/c a buddy of mine picked it up for me a while back (Graves was my favorite player even before he was scoring 50 goals and winning the Stanley Cup). blade detail in thumbnails, this blade is long and square with a slight heel curve, pretty ugly.
-
wow that's a lot of gear from the sale... how much did you end up spending there if you don't mind me asking? I'm new to the whole gear sale thing so just curious, I'm hoping the Islanders have something similar since they're close and not popular since they're horrible (so I shouldn't have to fight too many others looking for gear).
-
That's a real nice looking curve, nice pick up. Is that a tacki-mac grip or just tape? The pic looks like it may be either one.
-
That's an understatement. I'd love to give a curve like that a shot, see how many ceiling lights I could take out while aiming for the lower corner of the net
-
If you're from LI did you happen to get that from Plaza? I was just there tonight trying on some skates and fell in love w/ that Mission Titanium w/ the Sundin curve... beautiful stick w/ such a nice feel.
-
Perhaps a carbon wrap over a wood blade? That's my guess b/c the hosel area definitely looks like wood (or atleast a wood core) in that picture.
-
^^ S11?
-
I love those shoulder pads. If they weren't so expensive I'd be all over a pair of them for adult hockey.
-
Yea it's just a matter of not going overboard and realizing that if something you do causes a problem that you'll probably be responsible for whatever went wrong. With that being said, I agree the ms3 is a sweet package and something most ppl wouldn't expect to be as quick as it is.
-
I agree, if there was less white on those skates (maybe 50% less?) I'd be all over them. p.s. I think you've got some vaseline or something on your lens

The 705s with the white logos were the best skates ever. I'm currently in 705s with the silver logos and I swear every pair of them I've seen have been inferior to the whites. I thought JR was first referring to the newer style/model Grafs with all the silver graphics on the sides... but now I realize he was referring to the 705's w/ the silver 705 logo. I always noticed the different logo's but never thought anything of it until now. I got my pair right about 97/98 so I'm guessing they must have been part of the last production of white logo ones... I guess I have good timing and got lucky.
