The shells come in different cuts... the pant style ones like Nexus are a more boxy roomy fit to work well over pants, a girdle shell is generally a bit more fitted and sometimes has additional padding in the kidney area or a very thin piece of soft foam padding behind the thigh depending on the model (not sure exactly what this one does, it's far too thin to be protective and most girdles already have some protection there). Some of the fancier new girdle shells have velcro to attach to loops on some girdles, they're not necessary but some people like them (I come from the time before these and tried them once and haven't bothered since, the velcro closure on the front of the shell and the belt hold things up just fine and this way I can slide the shell on/off 1-2-3). As for the CCM Tacks shell... it has the velcro loops and also has some padding in the kidney area but it is all soft padding, the older 9K style shells went higher up and had plastic inserts in the kidney area.

I searched but only found topics dealing with clicking from the blade, this is not that. The other night after a game I was hanging my gear up to dry and noticed a rattle sound in one skate, I thought I had a broken rivet inside the boot so I checked but found nothing. I realized the sound was coming from the back section of the LS Edge holder, it sounds like something inside broke off and is rattling around. I popped my blade off to see if I could see anything or get it out from where the blade pops in but no luck. I popped the blade back in and everything feels ok (I had just played back to back nights with no issues, no hard contact to the skates from what I recall). Anyone have any idea what it could be inside there before I trek to the closest pro shop to have them take it apart and inspect? For reference I have the last gen X700 and have had Step Blacksteel in them for about a year, haven't had any issues over the course of owning these skates aside from a couple of loose rivets up in the toe area. Thanks for any insight.

Maybe try one of the new Tacks girdle shells? I have a small pro stock one that I wear with my medium girdle and it is a much more tailored fit than my other shells which are all medium (Both Warrior and CCM shells). The Tacks one has a length adjustment which I let out and helped with the length.

and Zibanejad was back in 1S gloves.

Also noticed last night that Ryan Spooner's Verbero gloves are now unbranded (well, minus the V on the thumb), I'm guessing Verbero didn't pay to have their stuff in the league this year?

Noticed Pk Subban was using a Warrior QR Edge last night instead of his old Easton. Here we see him showing off his butt end to a teammate.

I'll have to weigh them later since I still have the Bauer's but I feel like they're similar in weight. I hated the Bauer's because I felt like they were really lacking protection wise (I even added some additional tailbone padding since it didn't feel like it went down far enough). -

Tried my Super Tacks girdle for the first time last night... overall I really like it compared to my old 9K. Couple of observations compared to my old 9K (both are size medium, also I've previously worn the following girdles: Easton Synergy HSG, Bauer One.8, Easton Synergy circa '03ish, and an old Bauer one from the late 90's)... - it's def lighter, something I noticed more as I started playing, it just felt more streamlined but without sacrificing any protection (actually felt more protective in spots: tailbone, kidney, and even the hips). - The thigh boards, I was concerned about them since they're now connected in 2 spots compared to just 1 on the 9K, I was worried it would feel more confined but I never noticed during my game. Another thing about the thigh that I didn't notice when I first tried the girdle on at home... it's much narrower/tighter, I have skinny legs and the strap barely makes it 1/4 way on to the velcro on front before I feel it's too tight. The straps on my 9K were so worn out with hardly any elasticity left in them so it took a few mins to get used to the tighter fit. - Spine protector... this thing is huge! The 9K barely had anything there so it's nice to have some added padding back there, I just need to remove the lower back padding I added to my shoulder pads (to make up for the shortcoming of the 9K's spine protection). I like that you can adjust it up or down a couple of inches, the girdle has a lot of great adjust ability. - belly strap/closure... this is odd to me, it's almost as if the girdle is confused whether or not it wants to be a traditional step in or a wrap style, personally I'm a traditional step in guy so I would have liked it to be closed like the 9K was but to each their own. - lack of sock velcro - this was the first thing I was disappointed in since I loved that feature on the 9K. I ended up taking some velcro and making a tab that connected to the existing loop side on the spandex short (the thigh board connection spot) that went down an inch or so where I could attach my socks to, it worked out great. So those are my first game observations. Overall I really like it and look forward to using it more. -

I just picked up a brand new pair of these in a trade so I'm going to bump an old thread. Coming from an old, well loved, 9K girdle my immediate observation was how much lighter this girdle was. I've tried it on and it feels really mobile right out of the box (bag?). I feel like the thigh pads are a touch more narrow/form fitting than the 9K which I'm liking, they wrap my legs better (I have skinny legs). My biggest complaint so far is I don't see any velcro tabs for the socks, that was one of my favorite parts of the 9K and I've eliminated any sort of garter belt/compression short I had used in the past in favor of a CCM pro jock, I guess I'll have to take a trip to Michael's to pick up some velcro and get creative with a needle and thread haha -
Nice pics @dkmiller3356, must've had some super amazing incredibly awesome photographer take them haha, it was nice to finally meet you in person!

The internet and forums such as this have been around long enough that there's really no excuse for people not knowing the basics of how this stuff works. Sites like Flickr and imgur are out there offering free image hosting and make it so simple to copy a bbcode for an image in order to post in in a thread, this is how every single forum I've ever been on has worked for the past 20 years. And on that note I now feel like an old timer and like I just yelled at kids to get off my lawn haha, but in all honesty, I agree with JR and it has always been a pet peeve of mine.

So jealous of those Mega Air's, I wanted a pair so bad when I was younger but only came as close as getting a pair of the Bauer Air 60's (I think they were 60's, def not the top end one). So I worked out a deal with the league I play in to shoot photos of some games and occasionally bring my camera on the bench to take photos between shifts if we're winning by a lot (and/or have 3 lines to give me enough of a break). Last game we were up 6-1 late in the third so I set my camera up and asked a teammate to shoot some photos of my line (since I'm never in any photos), he did a pretty good job: October 24, 2017-7236-J. I was just coming to comment about the similarities between this and the Bladetech steel (that supposedly a handful of Caps players are using). I actually just ordered a set of Bladetech blades for myself, their propaganda about being good for people with bad knees sold me on them (have had a full ACL replaced on one leg and the other knee is far from 100%, old age has def caught up with me) , also I was just intrigued with the whole concept. Once I get them and try them I'll make sure to attempt a review of some sorts.

60, 90, maybe I'm dyslexic haha, it's something like that, definitely should be long enough to get a feel for them. -
NEW SUPERFEET 'CARBON PRO HOCKEY'
xstartxtodayx replied to SeanCornell91's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
There's a 90 day guarantee, I'm not certain the exact details but I think if you're not happy you can send them back. You might want to check their website first to get the exact details though. I'm going on about a month with mine and I love them. -
I tried them for about 5 games and just never felt right. They always made me feel like I was on my heels and the arch never felt right, basically I was always aware of them while skating which wasn't good. I switched to the SuperFeet Carbon Pro and it was a night and day difference for me, I no longer pay attention to my feet while skating which is great. I'm sure these are great for certain people but they just didn't work out for me.

NEW SUPERFEET 'CARBON PRO HOCKEY'
xstartxtodayx replied to SeanCornell91's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I just ordered a pair of these for myself and am looking forward to trying them out in my Vapor X700's. I got the skates a few months ago and skated in them maybe 6 or 7 times using the Bauer Speedplates. I used to use a pair of Sole insoles in my old skates but found they took up too much volume in these skates so I switched to the Bauer Speedplates. The speedplates gave me more volume and nice support but make me feel like I'm on my heels and leaning back too much (and sometimes I feel like there's too much volume with them). I'm hoping the carbon pro hockey are that perfect in between for me. I went with a D size (or medium according to Amazon) since I'm anywhere between an 8 in shoes/boots and a 9-10 in sneakers depending on the brand, and since my skates are a 7 I felt like going with an E might be too big. I have 1 game tonight with the speedplates and then another this weekend where I'll test out these carbon pro's, I'm looking forward to trying them out. -
it was a July special I couldn't pass up haha

Finally bit the bullet today and replaced my old One75's (that were discolored and never properly fit) with a properly fitted pair of skates, I splurged on the Vapor X700's at my LHS and can't wait to try them out :-) 13652943_1158317550895643_5964823446412514121_o by Jon Schusteritsch, on Flickr

Just heard there will be a blowout sale at Dix Hills Pro Shop with Islanders gear on Saturday from 10am - 4pm. I'm hoping to check it out and see if I can pick up anything good.
-
picked up a Resistance 100 helmet from ntwusc last week and just got around to removing the earguards and installing an old itech visor I had, will be using it tonight for the first time but my son, Max, insisted on trying it on first (he loves helmets). IMG_9686 IMG_9687

Thanks guys. I'm guessing their store is the old pro shop at Iceworks in Syosset? I haven't been to that rink in a long long time (side note: I remember when I started playing their gear was supplied by Syosset Sports where I'd pick up pro stock Vic 4050 sticks, I used to love those things, yes I'm old haha).

Anyone know of a Rangers or Islander's team sale?
-
I really wasn't looking to buy anything but after reading this thread I think I'm sold.

haha yea, fcalog has a point. It was a cool concept, and one that I think has value for the future, but their camera was a bit lackluster to say the least. Hopefully someone can take that technology and make it really useful in the future though, it would be super useful for a lot of applications. It's in Peconic on the North Fork, about 30mins east of Riverhead. Unfortunately we don't have any ice rinks (or indoor roller hockey rinks) out this way (I drive an hour+ to play at Superior, Dix Hils, or The Rinx once or twice a week), but for playing around with the kids this one is perfect.
