If you can count the items, you would use "fewer". If it's an uncountable mass of a substance or mixed items, e.g. dirt or sugar, you would use "less". Drew should work in our Contracts department... ;)

One of the guys I play hockey and drink beer with was killed in an avalanche while snowmobiling. He had such great plans coming up for him and his family. RIP.

Off-season training, day 5 - doing bodyweight squats to warm up, and hear crackling noises from both sides and below every time I squat down and up. I figure the knees are going. Same sounds with lunges and step-ups. However, there's no pain. I figure that I'm almost done for, so I stop the workout. Afterwards I find out that it's the receipts and cash in my pockets making the noises as I was bending my hips. Got scared for nothing.

Got sick during the business trip. Then the boot sector on the laptop fails; IT will take a look at it next week. The phone in my cubicle has no connectivity, and IT can't figure out where it is connected onto their server.

Talking about snow: went to Dallas last week. It had snowed the day before I got there (Tues 01 Dec), and was still cold while I was there. When I got back home (Calgary), the Park-and-Jet, located in an open field, had blown snow covering all the cars, 3 ft deep, and the parking lot had not been ploughed. The shuttle bus wouldn't go into the rows of cars for fear of getting stuck, so I had to wade through the snow with my luggage to get to my car (luckily I travel very lightly). It was below freezing with a strong wind. I dug out the car with my hands (luckily I had gloves) and started it (barely), and then I used my hands to dig a trench to drive my car out. I was almost out of my row, driving in the tracks from other cars, when I bottomed out. Luckily there was a 4x4 pickup that came up behind me and nudged me out. Driving home I could see abandoned cars along the roads and highways. Getting home, none of the roads had been ploughed. Luckily my son had shoveled out the driveway. But, both my son and I had hockey games later that day / night (Saturday), so at least the ice was hard and fast.

Job??? What in the world for? And thanks for the Good Luck wishes. I think he's referring to the Biblical Job. (Satan takes more and more away from Job, but Job's doesn't denounce God etc.). Best wishes from me too.

What does a 40/80 profile mean? (on Gonchar's 1" hollow)

That was the same scenario for my team a few years ago. So, the goalie formed a breakaway team, which now plays 6 divisions above the original team.

It's a good life lesson; life isn't fair and some people get lucky, but you can control your own life.

Is this the marriage that you weren't too sure about, or am I confusing this with somebody else? Anyhoo, have fun with the good stuff that you've lined up. :)

And, before you know it, you will all be playing in a parents - kids game and they will be zipping by you, waiting for you to catch up so they can set you up. Or they could be like my kid, playing on the other team and telling me that I suck.

Got my PMP designation without studying too much.

Underpowered? Where are you getting your information guy? Maybe the Yaris? Even that has enough snap to get you by, -My brother just bought an 04' Tundra, leather interior and heated and all that jazz, and it's pretty mint, and were in Red Deer. its gonna have enough...but you'll definitely feel your load if you get me, but it'll be a solid family car nothing that'll blow you away though...but i guess your set on that never drove a pickup in my life...so got nothing to compare that to It's me who is getting the Venza, and QandA has added to your post to help me out about the power. Anyways, I can see how the cloth is wearing away in my 14 yr-old Civic hatchback, but the cost for leather only is a little too much for me, so we'll probably go with cloth seats. 2-month wait after I order it!
-
Yes, the Venza is like the station wagon version of a Camry / Avalon, and it is more expensive. We are going with the V6 engine and AWD. It's made in Kentucky, so the money will kind of stay in North America. I'm worried about the leather cracking, especially with the dry summers and winters that we get in Calgary, but my wife really really wants the seat warmers. There is a premium package that comes with leather and the seat warmers, but it has all kinds of things (e.g. chrome handles) that we don't want and it's $8000 or so. The leather package has just leather seats and panel accents, and the seat warmers.
-
OK, I'm going with the Venza. My wife wants heated seats, but that only comes with the Leather package. Is the Leather package worth the extra $1700 or so, and is it hard to maintain (never had leather before). I'm debating on the sunroof, too.

I've driven or ridden in the CR-V, Escape and Rogue. I would avoid the Escape of those 3, but you really need to sit in them and see how you like them. OK, thanks for the warning about the Escape. We're going to see the Venza tonight. When I was young, the Ford soundbite used to be "At Ford, Quality is Job 1". Now, the latest ad campaign emphasizes that "Ford is the safest". How times have changed!

The boy in the family is about to go on an 8-day field trip to Eastern Canada, so the wife is feeling anxiety. I figured this would be a good time to get a new car (not a new used car, but a new new car this time). Either a Venza, a CR-V, an Escape, a Grand Vitara, or a Rogue.

A few more, some that I'm not sure about: Tuuk V2 blades. Kor skates, maybe (?): good product, but tough competition and the marketing strategy didn't work out. CAG-1 auto skate sharpener and profiler (?). Bauer Tri-Flex OPS. Bauer Vapor shafts. Busch graphite OPS (?) Winn-well long cuff gloves (?) Attack triangle Hockey stride weight machine (don't recall the name) with 45-degree angled sliders, looked like a nautilus machine.

In fact by the end of the playoffs they all had it and I had come to find out they use a Triple Profile on all Players were the Penquins use only the double. There was some very interesting things there. Penguins (hardly anyone on Step and double profile) Redwings (all on Step and triple profiles) Triple profiles - is that different radii for the front, mid, and back of the blade? And, is it blended in by eye, or are there triple profile template bars?

Different guy... :o Leave it to the professionals! after breaking his leg, he was put on a list to have his plate and screws removed, unable to stand the pain he decided to operate, he took a couple shots of alchohol for "anaesthetic", the shaved his leg, and after boiling his instruments in water, he proceeded to take a pocket knife, and cut an incision along the line of his original incision made by doctors, taking a phillips screw head he removed 5 of 6 screws (the plate was embedded, and the last screw was inaccesible) and suturing himself back together. his mom then figured out what had happened, and took him to the hospital, where he had a pshyciatric evaluation and had the last screw and plate removed, he had no evidence of further damage to muscle, bone, or nerve tissue. wow that took a long time to type, anyways thats crazy I used to have another link that showed a pic of when he first got to the ER; it was pretty gross. One of my team-mates dug up the story after I whined about the screws in my leg one too many times and sent it to me.

Don't do this
-
If the screws are inside the skate boot and stick out so much, they will really hurt when skating. So, whenever you get back to skating (don't rush it), you can try this: 2 strips of foam along the incision / line of screws. I cut some pipe insulation lengthwise. On top of that, a donut of foam, with the hole over the ankle knob, if you have screws or tenderness in the area. I tried some Poly-Vinyl foam, but it didn't work as well as a donut cut from a dense foam-rubber mouse pad. Maybe others have some ideas, too.

Hey guys, as in the rest of life, there are trade-offs in our choices. I chose to remove the hardware because the rubbing and the decreased range-of-motion were bothering me so much. Others might want the added strength of the titanium; I play non-contact beer league, and I don't play basketball any more, so I thought that removal was an acceptable risk. Also, the surgeon went back in through the original incision/scar; doing so increases the chance of infection, so you really have to keep it clean after the wound closes up. My recovery from the removal was about a month. But, I am a fast healer (for both the original break / hardware and the removal). Last year (2 years after the original break) I went skiing again; no problems. I have also hit the boards with my usual frequency, with no problems so far. And, I no longer trigger the airport metal detectors (I travel a lot for work) with my O-leg.

I took my hardware out because I could feel the screws rubbing against the inside of the skin when skating hard (some screws were below the skate's top eyelets). I got more range-of-motion after the hardware was removed.
