What number do you wear

Recommended Posts

I've worn 11 for nearly all of my hockey years...started with 4..but moved to 11 back in the days of Ulf Nillson on NYR and have stuck with it since..(although it looks odd to have #11 on the blueline at times)...when I've been in a huge bind..6/7 has filled the spot..

I think another question is do you have a block against wearing any certain #'s..ones like 13 notwithstanding...for me its 21...I tried it..as a tribute...but hit so many posts and so many bounces seem to go against me the "1" became a "4" soon after

It's always been 14 for Jim Rice of the Red Sox, although lately I've been wearing 21 with Salming's name on my pickup jerseys.

So, here's another question. Has anyone who's old enough to play the Lotto used their favorite players' numbers? Not that these have proven to be lucky :( :

4- Bobby Orr, Bruins

11 - November

14 - Jim Rice, Red Sox

26 - Birthday

33 - Larry Bird, Celtics

39 - Sam "Bam" Cunningham, Patriots (although I'm willing to reconsider)

You can use them if you want, but I think I've only won $2 with them.... :D

Im a 19 or 14 guy, 19 because of the great Steve Yzerman, and 14 because If worn it for most of my life in baseball, football and soccer.

I used to be 11 for Messier. Then when Bure first came into the league, I liked #10. But then that season when Mogilny joined the Canucks, he switched to 96. I actually wanted to start using 91 for Fedorov, but my teammates got me a jersey with #96 for our team thinking I still liked Bure, and it's just stuck since then.

I'm 92 this year because I just like the way it looks on my jersey and you don't see it all that much. I've went through a lot of numbers and I don't like numbers that everyone has(like 9, 66, 77, 88 etc.). I just like my number to be semi-original.

When I got my first organized hockey jersey last year I picked #2 for a few reasons:

  • Playing hockey was like starting life over (life #2)
  • #2 is usually the first skaters number
  • I've always respected Al MacInnis
  • It's a low number and I didn't want to attract attention to myself as a beginner
  • I'm the second born in my family

All that being said I think I'd also be happy with 22 or 28(birthday) as well.

#27, Kovalev's number. :)

That makes two of us. But it was also Roenick's number when he was in Chicago. I loved the guy back then.

But I would be happy to wear 9, for modano, howe, gretz times 2, and some other hockey greats have the number 9 as part of their number (19, 93, 91).

I've always worn 24 (birthday) except for 2 games wherein I wore 7 and 11 and was completely useless out on the ice.

Up until this season, I had been wearing 46 for awhile (really couldn't tell you why). This year I jumped to a different team in a different league, so I decided it was time for a change. Now I wear 17 (age).
