I think those skates are the ugliest I've ever seen. I'm sure they will be attractive to the 12-15yo range, but no real hockey player would be seen in those (except those paid $1/2 million to wear them) :) Regular folk, those who can afford them, will not buy those skates.

Tell me what you think about the pink Z1 Jimmy :D

They skates looks absolutely sweet, its something totally new, definitely gonna want a pair (specially if it comes in that wicked case!)

Just a question, that last pic thats see through, did you peel off the "skin", or was that sent to you like that. cause if you were able to peel it off i'm just wondering how cut resistant it would be.

The "great looking traditional" skates are few and far between from all the skate vendors. If the product performs, it really does not matter what it looks like. Too bad there was no MSH when Vapor 8 Pro models were introduced in 1998. Even if guys trashed that radical design, it wouldn't matter. The skate spawned a generation of new designs that have benefitted everyone in the game: players, vendors, and dealers. Here's to moving forward, not being stuck in the past.

pretty cool insight into the shell of the skate, I've never really seen the underneath before..

sorry jimmy, but if they fit as advertised..I'll plunk down the cash for them, and I'm old enough to have kids in the 12-15 age group (although to my knowlege I don't and if any of them come forward wanting a pair..no dice :P )

I really like the no negative space fit concept. Really can't go by the pictures alone, but from someone who grew up wearing mainly old school Tacks and Super Tacks, they aren't all that bad.

i really cant decide on the looks but that clear boot picture seems impressive to me...it looks almost like that clearish material they use for casts that molds to your hand or whatever after heating it up then hardens...i think it actually might have something to do with that. Looks like BNH did a lot this year...

I don't think you can blame the companies for giving up on the great traditional skate..

2 years ago CCM had an old school 652 on the market while NBH had its Classic Gold and Silver models..none did great at retail...

i like the look of the skates but i question the protection and stiffness of them.

There must be enough protection and stiffness if Jarome Iginla is wearing them. What is your question- too much or not enough?

Like the look of the skates alot, besides from the holder they are not flashy at all, the waý it molds around the ankle & the disuse of silver is great...

Like the Gloves aswell, who cares what they look like, I know I'm not looking at mine (different brand) when I'm playing... B)

I think he's wondering if theres not enough protection/stiffness.

Im wondering if Nike/Bauer have finally addressed the durability problem with these skates. They are a nice looking product but until there's some feedback about how long they last and hold up in the long run I'm steering clear of Nike/Bauer skates. Until they do that I'll stick to high end CCM, Graf or Easton skates.

Im not surprised people didn't like the skates and the gloves, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so here's mine:

Playing hockey, i dont mind what my equipment looks like... I care more about how I perform. It's not the looks of the equipment, rather how the player looks when he plays.

If these new breed of equipment proves itself worthy, I don't mind whatever people say, as long as the technology works for me.

They must be giving reps samples of the Nike version of the glove. The last revision will be the NBH version. And you all can see it at...the skate on Friday :)

The skate certainly looks like an advancment in technology in terms of construction and styling. Will try those on for sure when I get a chance (when i save enough spare change!). Hope you guys all have a good time at the skate on friday! :(

Nike used to make a pair of shoes that were really popular in the NBA like two years ago. The heel and midfoot of the shoe was plastic and they were really comfy... im guessing the plastic on the one90 was influenced by nike.
