Sprung Hockey

It was around 30 bucs he charges a buck a rivet ( little more if you want copper) and depending on how many new holes he has to drill.

I didnt give him a time limit when they had to be done by but I had them within a week.

Ended up taking the boots and sprung chassis up to RMU sports complex. Said it'd probably be around $40; they're going to call me tomorrow with a quote when the guy who does the chassis work comes in. 45-60 min drive from where I am to that place. Whatever, if they get the job done well, it's worth it. I can pick them up Wed. night prior to my game.

Guys I have recently had the opportunity to do some frame comparisons and even though I'm not a competitive player by any stretch of the imagination I thought I would post my findings. I have in the past posted several photos of skates that I converted from ice to inline using various frames including the A-6 Sprung frame. I don't want to knock anyones product and to be truthfull I have become somewhat of a skate junky collecting all kinds of skates and chassis that I buy on closeout, removing the ice blades and mounting said chassis using T-nuts and bolts so that the chassis can then be removed and mounted on something else later on down the line. There are still a couple frame types that I have not tried but I have tried several rigid chassis set-ups and most recently I have been skating a new pair of skates with a rigid chassis in an attempt to break in the boot which will eventually be mounted to an A-8 Sprung chassis. My findings have been that skating outside on a blacktop surface the Sprung chassis gives me the smoothest ride and the tightest turning radius. When using the rigid setup I can achieve the smooth ride that the Sprung gives me if I use very soft indoor wheels which grind away to the point of being almost unusable after a couple of outings. As far as the turning radius goes I have not been able to recreate anything similar to the turn I have experienced with the Sprungs without rockering the front or rear wheel on the chassis which feels uncomfortable to me and has been difficult for me to get used too. With the Sprung frames I have been able to use a harder wheel which holds up better when playing on blacktop and still achieve a smooth ride while not losing grip in the turns. As far as durablity goes my weight has gone from 240+ down to 220+ in the past year and after playing hard on a very unforgiving surface I have had no problems what so ever. Like I said before I don't want to knock anyones product and I have been very carefull not to mention the frames I have tried by name or brand but I question why so many peaople have been so reluctant to try a product that seems to be so far ahead of the game.

Just my 2 cents worth.....

I have been a long time lurker  and decided to order a set of the A7's to convert my son's S400's. The science looks great and I hope theat the conversion will be a better of ice trainer for him particularly this summer. But I do have a couple questions for Keith or anyone else who might have heard.

1. Are the A7 preorders still on for shipment around the 25th?

2. How are things looking for a junior or youth chasis (something that might fit down to a size 3 or 4 ccm boot)?

And keep up the innovation Keith.

These are the CCM Vector 8.0's with the A-6 and the chassis is not mounted to the boot yet but this is basically what it will look like but with an A-8 chassis.

I love the boot........

When I get these done they will be the last of them for a while unless I do some for someone else. Hopefully I will be able to do some for my son this winter.

got a call for the price quote today. price doesn't really matter, but 7-10 days to get the work done? how does that happen, i'm going to be skating on some old mission proto SVs for my games wed. and thurs. nights. I'm glad they told me 3 days tops when i dropped them off.

:( OK, so I was still tangled up in the foot thing, and then I made some drawing changes, and then the factory was Busy. The A7 frames are still at least three weeks away. I booted the deadline, so all of the Existing pre-orders will get free shipping, too. As soon they come in they will be $125 instead of $99. :)

are they 76mms or 80mms?

(the angle may just be making them look small)

Also, how do the Eastons fit, in comparison to say, Missions?

they are the A6 (76's)

I used the A6 on my ccm's before and the eastons are the same size.

I never really used missions, usually just ccm and rbk. Compared to those it's a stiffer boot and higher cut.

I would have to agree that those are badass. Best white rollers I have seen to date, hands down! Well done, man :)

I'm thinking you have some competition for best looking conversions now Fletch. Those eastons are.... Incredible!!!!!!!

where the hell did you get those???

Seing a triple number from Easton- SMU for SportChek or some other store.

lol.... i posted a story about the skates on my facebook page.. It was a long road getting the skates but I'll give you the extremely condensed version.

They are a SMU for SportChek. Living in California they of course can't ship to me so I called in and ordered them for a friend of mine in Calgary. They then shipped to him and he shipped them down to me via Canada Post (it's funny, he had to officially claim they "were a gift" or they actually might have confiscated them).. I'm lucky I have a couple friends in Alberta or it would have been nearly impossible to get them.

I had a nice, long talk with an employee from Source as I was inquiring about the great selection of SMU's they get up North and how we really get shafted in the states. He sited that in the greater Toronto area alone, they sell more skates in a year than they do in all of the US (not sure if that's true but I don't doubt it).

In any case, I debated on whether to use white or black sprungs but the white on white just looked good to me. I also was torn between keeping the black felt tongues or replacing them with the white felt one's I got from East West. For now I like the black ones and I think I'll keep them.

They feel great! A little more supportive than my last CCM's which I like.

Nah, you need to keep the black tongues to help keep the toecaps from looking too out of place.

Claiming "gift" on customs forms doesn't prevent seizure, it prevents duty fees on imported goods. If they were declared as an item being sold to you, the $500 or whatever amount would be taxed and the package held until you paid up. It's always a good idea to mark international shipments as gifts between two private parties. I once got a package from Hong Kong that UPS wanted $40 for- it was worth $35 - went back to Hong Kong, shipped back to me via DHL duty free and only paid an extra $5 for the return shipping.
