thomand52 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2008 Best I've ever been on the ice with was Paul Coffey. He came out a bantam practice when I was playing and just put us through some skating drills. He was the most amazing skater I've ever seen. We thought we were pretty fast but he was able to spot our fast skater about a 1/3 of a rink lead and still beat him around the rink by a good 20 feet. Nick23 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2008 Well obviously not at his best now, but tonight my coached asked me to play with his russian rec team to get my legs going for the game tomorrow. They were playing a russian rec team who were over in England for a few days.As we go to get on the ice a guy comes out with an old solviet red bucket, real old school, looked like it did nothing but stop his head getting cold.Anyway, i found out that guy was Alexander Yakushev, 2 olympic golds and top point scorer in the 1972 summit series. 61 and you could tell he had that special touch.I didnt get his autograph but they gave all the guys a shirt and a bottle of russian diamond vodka each. Happy days =]
sickwilly 37 Report post Posted December 23, 2008 Several guys who made the show in various settings. One game that stands out was playing against UVM when they had Martin St Louis, Tim Thomas, Aaron Miller and Eric Perrin - 4 future NHL'ers on the same squad. It was usually a recipe for disaster for us.

texspeleo 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2008 I've tried to play with a few D1 kids with astounding skills, but my hat is off to a man named Chevoyen (sp?). He's a 75 year old man from Yugoslavia who plays pick up at Colorado College, and frequently makes fools of guys 1/4 his age. Just listening to the amount of hockey history that he's seen, and watching the level at which he plays just blows me away.

shotty 7 Report post Posted January 19, 2010 he was with albany at the time, i think it was a year or two after he was drafted, so maybe 2003? he seemed pretty uncoordinated and a bit sloppy skating. i played with him about a dozen times and nothing changed (i'm no top prospect, but i felt as though i had more skill [and i'm fairly humble]) so i figured he was done with pro hockey.... THEN when he first made his appearance in the nhl, he was like a TOTALLY different player, style/size/confidence/et al. i was super pumped for him, and even moreso when he signed with the rangers, which he made clear to everyone around him, was his #1 choice.
