How do the 7k "Pro" elbow pads differ from the regular retail versons?

Anyone know the history of the shirts off our backs gimmick? It had to have started post lockout or so, what team did it first? I don't recall this from back in the day, but it seems like every team does it now. Really cool promo, though.

I'm not sure I could use modern elbow pads, for some reason the new elbow pads esp those used in the nhl extend so far down the forearm to protect against slashes.

I have some old school "euro" elbow pads... solid

Not all of them do - Jofa had several models. The 7k Pro is essentially the 5044, but softcapped. I have two pair of Swedish leather-covered 5044s that I absolutely refuse to give up.

I'm pretty sure Hamilton has done it since they moved here from Cape Breton (11 years). They usually start selling tickets with 3-4 weeks left in the year. And the winners are put up on a board during the last home game of the year. It's one of those "must be present to win" kinda things...so there is a "winner" and a "backup". The Winners are put up in the 1st intermission. If the winner doesn't come forward a Backup Winner is posted in the Second Int.
