Wings re-sign Lidstrom through 2009-10

Recommended Posts

Doesn't say the amount of the contract, but it will probabley be very similar to his current one which is 7.6 million I think.

7.6 mill a year is fair for a guy that is Lidstrom's caliber. Good resigning IMO. Now on the other hand (and Bruins' fans will agree) 7.5 mill a year for Chara is a waste.

Just wanted to correct the 7.6mill post.

He's contract for the next 2 seasons will be 7.45mill.

And my guess is he won't make the switch to Easton before his career is over.. ;-)

7.45 per season for 2 seasons. just wanted to make sure people (like me) didn't get confused.

2 more seasons, 2 more Norris trophies.

The sad part being that, after these couple years I bet he retires. I remember him wanting to retire and go back to Sweden before he was resigned last. I'm still happy though.

Detroit always seems to make smart roster moves. They bring in a bunch of guys nobody's heard of, but who are tremendous values, like Filippula and Samuelsson and keep their superstars around as long as they can. I agree that Lidstrom at 7.4 mill is a steal! BTW, what are the status' of Datsyuk and Zetterberg? Are the Wings about to hit the cap?

He's still one of the best D guys in the game still. His level of play has not slowed down at all with his age. Good for him! I have him for one of my fantasy leagues and i'm so glad i have him.

lidstrom is underpaid because he was willing to take a pay cut so detroit could bring in more talent...

not many other players would do that, especially one who is in my opinion one of the best players in the league

The best player in the league already did it.

hahah. A minor pay cut at best. The best player in the league commited to his team long term is what you ment to say ;)

Lidstrom has been amazing this year, it will be interesting to see how long he stays in the NHL after this deal.

Lidstrom is amazing this Has been amazing every year. 50 assists this season, only one behind Savard for 1st place in the league.

Fixed for you.

And for some reason, there are people that don't think Lids is the #1 defenseman in the league right now. I can't even imagine someone who plays the game better, with more class and talent.

Elbow on the sternum, head slapped the boards. Here's hoping he was just a bit dazed from taking a hit- he usually escapes games without getting touched.

Laperierre better count his lucky stars if Downey never sees him.

Edit-

Downey just fucked him up- turtled like Lemieux of old.
