Okay SO I thought I would ask a new question...What is the weirdest post game beer you had?!

I had a chipotle stout after a game. However, it was at home, not in a bar, so not immediately after the game.

As I said earlier, we play at the caps practice facility, and right below us is a Rock Bottom Brewery.

We go there post game, I generally try whatever their monthly special is. But generally not too wierd or out there, usually just a good seasonal beer (Goat Toppler Mai Bock was this month)

Anyone else not like the weird aftertaste of an IPA?

India Pale Ales in the US have a ton of hops, I don't like it either. Alexander Keiths up here is great, no where near the hops.

I may have to do a day trip to Windsor and pick up a couple of cases of Keith's so that I can take down to Orlando when I move in a couple of wks.

A few guys brought some beer to our weekly skate 2 weeks ago, they ended up bringing a 30 of Busch Light and a 30 of Asshouse. They both ended up getting bitched out for bringing shit beer and we all drank for free, it was a good time.

I thought I was going to catch hell the week I brought Lakeport Honey Lager...but no seemed to mind.

My first time to bring beer was the weekend of the MSH skate in Detroit, so I picked up 2 cases of Bud Light at the border (I think it was $25 bucks)....we charge $2 a beer and the guy who brought keeps the extra for his trouble...I made out pretty good that week.

Call me cheap, call me frugal...I call it good business. *L*

Has anybody mentioned Stampede Light? It has VITAMINS, so it's good for you. ;)

http://stampedebeer.com/index1.html

That is awesome...where do you buy it

There is a link on the site to find places that sell it. From what I understood it was released in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and I still can't find it.

Still mostly in Dallas and uptown. Only plsace I've seen it for sale is S&K beverage in plano.

One of my teams is sponsored by Stampede....its not bad after a game, but would rather go up to the bar for the molson.

Our rink won't allow bottles so we're limited in our choices anymore. Not much quality available in cans. We stick with blue pretty frequently.

Oskar Blues brewery does great canned beers. Dales Pale Ale, Old Chub (scotch ale) and Gordon. If you are ever looking for a real good canned beer that is.

The reason for the hops in the IPA's is because they were used to preserve the beer on long voyages on the ships to India by the british (pre-refridgeration/pasturization) (higer alcohol and hopping killed bacteria/microbes etc), which is where the name India Pale Ale was born.

Some breweries go overboard now with it, but I love hops so it's all good. But to each their own.

Beer30 is ridiculous. I can't decide if it has a little grape flavor or the purple can is playing tricks on my tongue.

Either way it's nasty stuff.

It wasn't a very good song either: "Beer Thirty" by Brooks & Dunn.

We usually have a contest to see who can bring obscure crappy beer. I think the best bang for the buck is Hamm's. Tasty, refreshing, and cheap.

The Beast, Stones, and PBR are other locker room staples.

Wow. I never thought I'd see/hear someone that likes Hamm's. That is by far the worst beer I've ever had. I bought that once because they used to sell the "beer chest" and it was 36 cans for under 10$.

My team has a rotating schedule and its normally pretty good beers. Molson Canadian is my beer of choice after a game.

magic hat #9 anyone?

I just made a batch of that recently. will be bottling it next week. If rock bottom is closed (stop serving at 12, we sometimes have 10.45/11 pm face offs) we go to a place called the front page, and usually get the magic hat there. Only place I've seen locally that has it on draft

As anticipated....I went on a brewery tour this weekend to the Abita Brewing Company (www.abita.com) with a buddy of mine. Coming from a micro-brewery rich area like Asheville NC I have to admit that I had lower expectations for quality of the beer and the fascility. Unfortunately, my expectations were pretty much spot on. The brewery itself was nice, clean, and relatively impressive, but the beers themselves were a touch lackluster. The only brews that they had that I honestly enjoyed were the Amber and their Golden. The rest of the beers just weren't too my liking, or honestly didn't stand out on my personal pallatte.

Hey....to each his own though. B)
