How do you get into something like this where company's ask you to test out skates like do you jsut have to own a hockey store and build strong relationships or is it somehting more then that?

They sometimes let more average folk in on the testing groups, but usually you still have to work at a store at the very least, typically own/run one and have some established connections, yes.

This may sound hokey, but they don't feel like anything I've ever worn. It's really hard to explain, and I am sure that once I skate in them more I'd get a better grasp on it.

Is that in a good way or a bad way? ;)

"Fluid" and "responsive" seem like pretty salutary terms - I'm really looking forward to the in-depth review.

and I'm really looking forward to looking up the word salutary.

Hopefully the retail price is closer to the Vapor 40's instead of the on90. Ive got to save up hopefully this doesn't kill me!

um...know some really cool guys...like the ones who came up with the concept...

This is the third one I've done with NBH. From 8090/ONE90/ONE95. I give them feedback, they get a review right before it hits retail from someone who's been reviewing for a long time now. Win-win.

As discussed earlier, they will be priced higher than either the One90 or S15.

I like the look of the boot, brings back the old supreme look, any idea how much this are going to retail for approx?

$649.99 is the absolute lowest they will be at. Any lower and bye-bye account.

JR did you like the Ls2.1? if i do get a pair i feel like id want to just stick to the Ls2. As well, would you say this skate is as stiff as the one90?

Field testers are elite players in their area, teams and the like. They also have a research program with McGill University that is pretty cool - I saw the video while I was up there and the data they get is pretty amazing.

It's fine. If you don't like it, pop out the blade.

Weren't they letting people, sort of apply to tryout the Thermablades? Maybe I just didn't pay good enough attention to who the people talking about it actually were.

DarkStar and JR:

I assume that both of you baked the boot. Curious as to the difference the first time you put it on to the time you had it baked...that is...if you tried it on without baking it first. Since the entire boot is thermoformable, I was curious to how it felt. From DarkStar's comment on loosening the laces and how it did not affect the feel...that would make sense as thermoforming would wrap the entire boot around your foot.

Man I can't wait to try them on!

Wow the skates look amazing in those pics, even better than the catalogue!

Does the D in the one95 feel like the 8090 fit or is it wider like you thought it would be?

Also the one90's ran a .5 size bigger than other bauer skates, is it the same deal for the one95?

Sizing is exactly the same as they were for ONE90. My ONE90s were custom.

I did not know what the D was going to fit like. I don't necessarily get your question. Does a D 95 fit like a D 90? Not even close. Does a D 95 fit like a D 8090? Yes.

This is good to know since I'm currently wearing 8090s in 7D. Any idea how the heel width is compared to 8090s? I ask, because while the forefoot of the 8090 works for me, my heel width may be too wide. There are holes starting to form in the boot lining of my 8090s in the heel area, possibly from my heel sliding side to side? Would this happen in a retail D-width One95 as well? Also, how is the boot depth compared to 8090s?

Also, I read that you ordered the heel lifts with the skates. Do One95s have the same problem that the One90s had where you felt like you were falling backwards without the lifts or a blade profile adjustment?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm REALLY considering these skates when they come out!

In the tradition of the Bont Microlite and Capeto, we once again raise the bar in ultra lightweight performance speed skating equipment. Welcome to a new era of racing boots. Introducing the ZERO©. The Zero is fully heat mouldable and has a new multi position slide bolt mounting system. It is easy to make a light weight boot... just use less carbon fiber. But it is difficult to retain the strength of a normal boot whist reducing the weight. A size seven zero boot weighs 30% less than a standard carbon fiber inline boot. Here's how we did it: 1) Carbon is lighter than leather so we used carbon on every panel we could. 2) We spent two years developing a special rubberized carbon that would be light and strong yet remain flexible. 3) Inside the boot we used a brand new special light weight uni-directional carbon fiber. In many parts of the boot, the cross weave carbon is not necessary because the forces upon it are only in one direction. So we hand lay every layer of uni-directional carbon fiber where needed which is half the weight of normal carbon, and absorbs less resin. We cover it all with a single layer of cross weave carbon. 4) We hand file the aluminum blocks to remove any excess weight. 5) We hand sand every piece of memory foam to remove every gram of excess padding. Our new memory foam is 40% lighter than previous memory foams. The result is an extremely strong boot that weighs next to nothing. The speed skating world has a new benchmark.

Boot only- $750

The reason I am showing this skate is there is now a lot more cross-over between a full carbon speed skate boot and the ONE95 than the ONE90. When you first see the ONE95 you might be confused that it is too stiff. However, this technology of energy transfer in a boot to ice skill set has been going on in speed skating for quite a while. My first impressions of the ONE95 were how will this boot work on ice. I remembered the first full carbon speed skate I saw in September 2005. I had to find this picture today of another current boot to share.

Now I know why NBH calls the quarter package 3D AnaFormable ALIVE composite.

Custom order went in yesterday. June can't come fast enough!

Sorry for the derail, but since you're in DFW, where'd you get them from? I'm having a hell of a time finding anyone to care enough to do it for me.

I am.

Drew was fitted and measured when he was up here for the MSH skate.

JR, will you be getting them in at your shop on April 15th? Do you know if most first liners will get them on release date?
