2008 US Election Thread

I was just commenting on that, I would've said the same if it had happened to McCain. However, I'm fully aware that it'll be used by both sides (sympathy vote/accusing them of setting it up for a sympathy vote)

Tuesday is election day. That is the day that most head to the polls to vote. Usually they have a projected winner sometime around 9pm and the networks try to outdo each other by trying to project earlier and earlier.

I wasn't implying that you had an agenda, I don't think anyone believes you were posting it for that purpose. I just thought it was sad that within 20 minutes of it being on CNN, that someone called.

Just laid down a wager on McCain, got +925 (bet $100 win $925) odds on him.

Not for nothing, but I can't believe the odds are that high.

Let's go Republicans!! You can do it!!

I don't even answer the phone. Being a registered independent in a swing state is AWESOME. I wasn't home yesterday but there were 12 "numbers" on our caller id.

Sidenote: noone elected me president when my grandmother died.

Being a registered independent in a state where McCain has zero chance of winning is still awesome. I've been getting two or three phone calls a day for damn near a month now from the Obama campaign. I also get about three or four a week telling me how Obama wants me to vote on specific measures. Can't wait for it to be over.

Just got another call from Obama asking me to vote for him. Nice of him to take some time out of his busy day to call little old me.

I consider McCain a longshot if, for no other reason, Vegas seldom gets their odds wrong. That said, I voted for him.

Well McCain obviously is a long shot, but go around and ask ten people if they'll take the bet that you give them $100 if Obama wins, and they have to give up $500 if McCain wins....there are not a lot of people out there who will take that.

I just love betting against so-called 'sure things'. Made a nice sum of cash doing just that last year when I had made two bets against the Pats to win the Super Bowl.

The actual bet I made was something along the lines of 'which political party will the next US President come from', and I took Republican +925. Democrat was something like -1500 (you have to bet $1500 to win $100), and there was a hilarious line of 'any other outcome' that was +10250.

Has anyone had any presidential cell phone calls?

final total was 5 today

3 yesterday. I just want to know who cast their vote based on a phone call. I'm sure there are people who do, I just want to see them so I can smack the sheeple out of them.

Voting for McCain in New York is like tossing a pebble at an armored truck, but I did it, anyway.

Hooray for me - popped by electoral cherry.

I love CNN. 0% of the precincts reporting in some states and they're calling the states for one candidate or the other.

I like the technology they are using though. That virtual desk with the Senate (or Congress...) sorry, not very good with US politics is very cool.
