I'm sure anyone would LOVE to have Ovechkin (arguably the best goal scorer in the league) using their stick and or gear. Getting your company's sticks on the big screen, or instant replays 60 times in a year can't hurt when the little guys are watching at home, wanting to be just like Ovy.

I'm shocked NBH didn't make a strong push for Ovie. With RBK holding crosby, you'd think NBH would pay serious coin for Ovie to rock their stuff all day.

My guess would be that their reasoning is they get enough people buying their stuff regardless of their poster boys. From the small amount of sticks I've used, Reebok and CCM are pretty damn bad and need the big names to get attraction.

Exactly. And Ovechkin was a Bauer user until he was drafted. So money had to have had something to do with the endorsement deal from CCM.

Something tells me Lid's endorsement contract was up or terminated. He completely left Easton; went from wearing nothing but Easton to nothing Easton. If he had simply found a better product he'd probably be in something Easton still. Is the Lidstrom curve getting renamed I wonder; Alfredsson, Gaborik, Cleary, and other Easton guys to choose from.

Seems to me Warrior and CCM are the two big up and comers right now. Seeing more and more guys in Vector buckets and U+ skates, and more and more Warrior mitts and Dolomite sticks.

Lidstrom seems to have had a falling out, I seem to recall Easton telling him he was too old...or something along those lines. Lidstrom basically said...F that, and now he is in Warrior gear (who does not seem to be afraid of sponsoring older players [weight, modano, lidstrom, draper]).

I wouldnt really consider CCM(reebok) making a huge move on the horizon. Yes, they have made improvements over their old "tech", however, they pump so much equipment that alot of guys come right into the league with CCM/RBK (via chl or ahl). I think that why were seeing so much CCM around. (Dare I say their plan is finally starting to work?) The fact of the matter is I dont see alot of CCM running around on kids or adults around where I live, though I will say I am impressed that their new stuff is somewhat cool and innovative compared to their old stuff.....some of their craftsmanship is still the same however, which is dissapointing.

The plan will never work; guys will switch out of it sooner than later.

I once heard that, initially, CCM planned to go with Crosby as their poster boy, and RBK was going to take Ove. Apparantly Ove liked the CCM gear and Sid liked the RBK, so that's the way it went.

... Don't know if there's any truth to this, though, nor does it really matter, but can anyone confirm or deny this?
