I think it is safe to say all 7000 (give or take) members here would LOVE to see Sasha (Alex Semin) during the skills competition.

Save the fact that the skills competition is the biggest pile of garbage and each player might be in one or two events... I don't really care if Semin is in it or not, like when we saw Malkin completely fuck over the stickhandling part of the relay, Semin might not completely blow your pants off.

I'd like to (once again) vocalize my support for bringing back the old rules. The fastest skaters and hardest shooters from around the league should be brought to the skills competition. The league may want to impose a minimum games played level or make the final determination after the team competitions to prevent career minor leaguers from being part of the festivities but the fastest guys should be racing around the rink.

I think Mike Smith should be on the ballot.

People need to remember that the ASG is very seldom about who should be there.

Agreed, popularity contest... I wish I could spout off other non-home guys but I havent watched too much other hockey since the NHL has pretty much cut off showing any games if you don't have center ice. That might have something to do with the lack of exposure for what Smith has done for a horrible team.

Heck, if I had my way St Louis wouldn't be there. I'd rather see Recchi on that list.

6 Habs on the ballot. 5 Wings, Penguins, Flyers, Rangers, Sharks and Stars.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=254787&lid...=headlines_main

He's having a good year, but I don't think Komisarek is the prototype All Star D man...but no complaints with the other 5.

6 Wings.

Right...Thanks. Lids wasn't a link. When I counted them I missed him.

I totally agree. As it is now, we get a watered down version of the best skills.

I see it as an opportunity to market more players as well. The larger the pool of players getting publicity, the more likely it is someone will find someone they identify with. If someone isn't a fan of Crosby or Ovechkin by this point, they're never going to be.

They tried that years back. It flopped. Nobody cared that Jon Rohloff had the hardest shot on the B's.

Not sure if they've done this before...but you can follow the balloting real time this year:

http://fanballoting.nhl.com/leaders

It would appear Montreal fans are voting in full force to have as many Habs as possible in the starting lineup.

it would appear someone made a script to vote for Habs players because those numbers are outrageously high!

The poles have been open for roughly 2.5 days... or 60 hours (3600 minutes).

The leading vote getter from the Habs is Carey Price with 182,545 votes.

182,545 votes / 3600 min = 50.71 votes per minute

The leading vote getter from a player not on the Habs is Roberto Luongo with 94,234 votes.

94,234 votes / 3600 min = 26.18 votes per minute

The next highest from a player not on the Habs is Nicklas Lidstrom with 86,055 votes.

86,055 votes / 3600 min = 23.90 votes per minute
