Redhook 1 Report post Posted September 30, 2016 I’m just getting back into hockey after a very long hiatus (15 years). Wow, things have gotten expensive! That said, I had some fun buying all the gear I couldn’t afford when I was younger. My first adult league game is still a few weeks out, but I have a little anxiety about my first time in the locker room. I hope the guys don’t pass judgment on the newb with all the new fancy gear (I’m not a beginner though). There seems to be some sort of pride in playing in tattered equipment. Elbows: Reebok 12K / Bauer Vapor X700 - Reeboks are light and fit, Bauers hurt like hell if I move my arm upwards. Gloves: Easton Pro 7 - Got a size too big. They're still too big, but flexible. However, they don't dry well, but that may be that I don't often dry my gear. Pants: Mission Pure LS1 - They don't really fit and haven't for the 5 seasons I've had them since I started playing, but they're pants, and I use a shell anyway. Shins: Bauer Supreme 150 - Awful. They're sponges that you can't wring out. Will be replacing as soon as I find a new team. Skates: CCM Vector Plus - The 5092's with very breakable laces, SB Black runners, and nothing else good. Hurt my arches like hell when I turn. Will be going the way of the shin guards. Sticks: Warrior Dynasty HD5 (55 / W03) - Too stiff, too tall, don't like the curve. CCM RibCor 26K (60 / P46) - Too stiff, too tall, but the curve is nice. Bauer Supreme TotalOne NXG (47 / PM9) - Good height, good flex, curve has its issues. Bauer Nexus 4000 (47 / P88) - My 17$ solution for the NXG. Have yet to try. Bag: Mylec Street bag - I've had it for 5 years, it's got holes and is too small, but it's a bag. Mostly they're minor and my fault (the helmet doesn't match my team colors anymore, but who cares, and my gloves and shinpads are spongy, but I rarely wash / dry my gear.) In 30 years of playing/coaching/teaching the game, by far the most impressive skate I've ever had. And I've skated on some nice wheels. Sticks:. Colt 3 (c28).....backed up by a nxg (p08) and a lot of other twigs that I mess around with. as you can see, I have no problem trying the odd/uncommon gear....and that's a good thing.....especially on the verbero and colt....do I intentionally wear some of this so I get chirped?? Lookey2000 5 Report post Posted January 24, 2017 As you can tell I am a little bit of a CCM fanboy. Helmet: CCM V10 - Absolutely love how comfortable this helmet is, used to use a Bauer 7500. Cage: Bauer 7500 Cage - Off of my old helmet, nice and light, easy to see through. Shoulders: Reebok Maxx Pro - Kinda big for me, but very protective. Elbows: Warrior Dynasty HD3 - Nice, lightweight, comfortable elbow pads. Gloves: CCM Tacks 6052 - Meh. Wish I went with quicklites or the old CL's but oh well. Pants: CCM RBZ XTRA (Based off RBX 110) - Good pants, nice and comfortable. Shins: CCM Tacks 1052 Pro - Not too bad, not too heavy. Skates: CCM Tacks Vector - Stiff as HELL. Good pair of skates, debating switching holders from SB 4.0 to Tuuk Lightspeed Edge. Sticks: CCM Tacks 4092 (60 flex P28 curve) - Good stick, great curve, got a wayyyy too low flex number though.
