NHL '12

Recommended Posts

This close to the relase date, with almost every other addition to the game already known, it has to be the big surprise. It'll be pretty cool to play as these players....for about three or four games.

Yzerman, Borje Salming, Roenick and Roy added to the Legends. I thought Chelios was a bit of a stretch since he last played in '09, now Roenick is the same way, thats pretty lame in my opinion. Not to mention Roy was on the Centennial teams.

Chelios is one of the top defensemen of the last twenty years, not many guys with as many, let alone more, Norris Trophies.

My guess is they got whatever players they could that fit in the budget. I know they just did a project with Gretzky for Wii so that probably had something to do with it.

Most gamers are 35 or under. Having Salming is the big stretch to me, not because of his talent, simply because of his age. Then again, they probably wanted to include the biggest hockey market in the world in some way and it's not like Gilmour or Clark were a better fit.

That's probably because they gave Gretzky a low checking or aggressiveness rating. gotta remember that it's not an average and that some stats are weighted more than others

Ahah, why would you say that?

It's probably just a coincidence cause (I believe) EA Sports is based in Vancouver anyway

Player ratings don't get touched by EA. They're outsourced to a sports statistics company every year.

Seems weird that they'd have the "legends" rated in the mid to high 80s when there will be a few current players at 90+.

Does anyone know if the Legends will be available in HUT?

ultraman said it but I don't think anyone gets it.

The ratings are overall ratings, things like offense awareness defense awareness, shot blocking/ hand eye ETC. You think Gretzkys stats are gonna be crazy high in fighting skill/ durability/ strength/ shot blocking/ defensive awareness/ aggressiveness/ body checking.. This rating is based on an overall players attributes not just a goal scorer. Their not going to boost all of those attributes listed above just to make Gretzky in the 90s for a rating. Also whoever said legends are in 80s and current players high 90s, simply the game has changed since a lot of them have played.

Really digging the demo but a few annoyances. Running into the golie is constant with AI plyers, I got pushed into the boards and the glass broke more than once. Loving how hard it is to score, but of course once it drops, the kids will more than likely whine and they will dumb down the goalies. Also, it's nice to know if you step up as a D, somebody will drop back for you. Overall, demo is awesome and I can't wait for the game to come out. Also, jostling in front of the net is a amzing feature for us D-men this year.

The demo was trash. You had no options. They force you to be a playmaking center in be a pro, you have to do line changes, you can't turn it off. Same with Play Now, and I have zero interests in HUT.

The demo is free and I feel cheated.

It's a demo... Much better than the last few NHL ones at least. Everything will be there in the final copy.

Having said that, I can't help but feel like this is what NHL 11 should have been. There's usually a difference with skating/gameplay that knocks you off a bit but this felt pretty much the same, only with all the little kinks resolved. There's more authenticity, such as players looking tired when going for a change, which is nice but nothing to go crazy. Can't say I've done much with knocking the goalie off yet, but that's really done to just how I play. Again, this just feels like NHL 11, if it had been done correctly.
