Filed last Wednesday, and our tax refund was approved and is expected to hit our account this Thursday!

When we get it, we're going to make a lump payment and finish off our mortgage.

I saw some awesome sportsmanship Saturday night at the Montana Girls State hockey tourney.

Watching the end of the U19 semifinal game between Miles City and Bozeman, Bozeman won 10-2. After the teams shook hands the Miles City goalie was in the dumps as she skated back to the net to retrieve her water bottle. Four of the Bozeman forwards skated back, hugged her, and escorted her off the ice.

Glasgow beat our U14 girls 10-0; after the teams shook hands the Glasgow girls made a double line on either side of the door and congratulated our girls for playing well (which they did) as they skated off the ice.

Some people complain about "kids today". We tell our daughters that somebody is always watching. It's true, but people also notice the good things.

I see great kids whose parents and coaches have them not only skilled at hockey, but great at life. Well done, ladies.

My best friend from college is from Glasgow. We played hockey together at Concordia. So I guess seeing Glasgow on a message board is a sweet spot for me.

After talking to my therapist and really doing some soul searching (I really hate this term, but whatever), I have finally decided that what I want to do with my life is help others. Nothing truly makes me feel more accomplished than making someones day better, or even just giving them someone to lay their problems on/small talk with. I plan on graduating in May, and then plan to go to community college finish up my pre-requisite classes so I can apply to med school in a year. I have never felt so right about something before. Feels great.

Belligerent parent has been banned from the rinks for the rest of the season. So one less thing to worry about, I guess? While it does feels like a less than satisfactory outcome, his kid still gets to play, and I'm happy about that. :)

Win-win!!

Treat the kid just like every other player and hopefully parent will see that the kid is still getting great coaching in the absence of parent's badgering.

Worst case, the kid will become an adult and see in hindsight that the helicopter egomaniac parent was wrong and the coaches were right.

For the princely sum of $7.00 (cost of the blade), I brewed my own curve. I doubt I made anything new, but it's new to me. I used to brew my own curves 100 years ago, lol. Who knows if it works or not, but it was a cheap experiment. I took an Iginla curve, opened up the toe, curved the heel, and made a generally twisty curve. It could fail miserably, or I could end up doing this to every single Iginla curve I own. I am hoping for puck clearing ability, some good saucer passing, and a lofty shot. I hope two piece sticks with wood blades never go away...

I would feel better about the whole thing if he was just a helicopter parent, and not 'parent who repeatedly violated the rink rules, and proceeded to have an epic tantrum, swearing at coaches and frightening other kids'. : / But I will settle for 'kid gets to play like the kid he is'.

I love, love, love my new job...sure it's only sales, but being around hockey equipment all day, five days a week, eight hours a day is amazing. Even more amazing when I have customers like I've had the past two days.

One gentleman, probably in his mid 30's, getting back into the game now. Helped outfit him from head to toe, and was one of the nicest people I've ever helped (including my previous job). If everyone could be as nice as this man was, the world would be a happier place.

Then today, a family just about outdid him when they came in to finish outfitting their son (stick, gloves, pants), and after they were done and leaving the store, the mother turns to me and asks how she can get a hold of HockeyGiant to say how much help I had been with them and how I made their experience as easy and pleasant as possible.

Things like this just make me happy to come to work, and it's awesome to finally be in a place again where I can be happy on my drive to and from.

And that's what I got with my home brew curve. Jury's out if it helps my game, but my clearing passes certainly aren't poached quite as easily. My slap shot, however, is QUITE suspect...

Talked the wife into letting me get a new MacBook Air with some of our tax money! My first Mac and I love it so far.

You will love it more as you won't be replacing it like you do Windows machines.

Today, I poke checked several danglers. While I might not be able to chase down break aways, I can play one-on-one. As a side note- the instruction from my figure skating instructor has helped me by leaps and bounds.

Today, the weather is nice enough to hang my gear outside!!!!

Sunday morning pick up had TWO goalies show up. I hope the local rink does it NEXT Sunday!!!!

3-on-3 with two subs was fast-paced and a crap load of fun.

My youngest cousin and her husband came to MT from Texas over her spring break (she's a 4th grade teacher) for some skiing. Too bad the cold weather left last week. They're going to have some spring corn/slushy conditions.

On the bright note, he grew up in Wisconsin and went to school at Michigan Tech. I borrowed gear for him and took him to drop-in last night. For not having skated much in the 3 years they've lived in Texas, he is GOOD! Too bad they don't live closer.

Watched the Leafs win in Anaheim tonight! What a great time my wife and I had!

MASSIVE contingent of Leaf fans drowning out the building with the GO LEAFS GO chant, too!

Cucumber Lime Gatorade is the ultimate elixir man has put on this Earth.

Seriously, go try it. Refreshing is an understatement.

Ugh, sorry but i think that is the worst flavor of gatorade I have ever tried. Just my opinion though!

Haven't seen that flavour in this locale. I will give it a whirl when I see it.

Interesting, I've never seen it around here either. My absolute favorite was the purple Gatorade Rain, too bad they don't make it anymore.

I'm a Riptide Rush bloke, myself; sometimes I see it, sometimes I don't. My flavour won a Superbowl, not that it means much to me. I don't understand American Football...
