New sherwood stick line Txx ?

Recommended Posts

I have to say, it's a nice stick, but the shaft is too large for my preference. Will any online retailers be getting the Slim Fit T90? Nobody around here will have these sticks available.

I never ended up getting T90s. Got Dolomite DDs again. I couldn't get used to the big boxy shaft of the T90s, how slim will the Slim Fit T90s be? Does anyone know?

Can't say I have much experience using the RMs, but I was using a T90 blade in one of my shafts for a bit. Seems decent. Nothing spectacularly good or bad about it. Used maybe 20 times and it has held up "ok". Of course, YMMV.

The '10 T90 replacement blade was the same as the RM9 bade, just new graphics. For me I find the blades have a plasticy, ceramic feel, and all of my delamed and broke at the heel prematurely. Not a great blade imo.

It is indeed 3, but after the first batch you can order them individually I believe. Also, if you get the Vibration Reduction Core ++ blade, minimum is 12 (and if you want R8s, you HAVE to have this blade  ).

Hafta go through a retailer. NONE of the shops carry Sherwood/TPS? While I could see few carrying their OPS or protective line, I would think most places would have to order some 5030 woodies or some 9950 goal sticks from time to time.

Any Sherwood dealer will handle your order if no LHS in your area sells Sherwood. Try playersbench.com. They'll set you up.

The T90 SOP stick is minimum order of 3. It comes standard with a Sherwood blade (IQ) fused into an imported (Chinese) square shaft. You choose your custom curve (send in a sample and they can make a mold), flex, and grip. From what SWD told me, they cannot adjust the specs of the lie/face/curve of a pattern on file or sample. But this is worth confirming by calling Mario in their SOP dept.

The T90 Pro stick is a minimum order of 12. The options for these are below. I understand that the Canadian shaft is the smaller dimension square shaft (these used to be TrueTemper shafts under the RM19 custom program). The TPS blade is the Vibration Core ++. Again you choose custom pattern, flex, and grip.

2SC = 2 pces, Sherwood Blade, Canadian Shaft

2SI = 2 pces, Sherwood Blade, Imported Shaft

2TC = 2 pces, TPS Blade, Canadian Shaft

2TI = 2 pces, TPS Blade, Imported Shaft

I had delam problems with my 1st batch of T90 SOPs and subsequent warranty replacements. SWD had me return my warranty replacements (they paid return shipping) and now they are sending me three T90 Pro TCs. Hopefully the TPS blades will work out better than the Sherwood ones.

Thanks for the detailed information Flyerman.

It's a real shame the Pro's must be ordered in batches of 12 because the 2TC option would definitely entice me to have a go considering how much I love my pre-buyout R8.

The T90 Pro stick is a minimum order of 12.

Just to clarify, I am fairly certain the 12 pc minimum on the Pros applies only if you want a custom pattern with the Vibration Core ++ (TPS) blade. If you want a stock pattern you should have no problem getting just 3. I had no problem ordering 3 Pros in a custom pattern with the IQ blade (granted, they haven't shown up yet, heh). Like Phunky, I was hoping to get the R8s but can't afford to go for a whole dozen.

Also, there are two Canadian shafts available (for the Pros and the R8) - one with two concave sides, and the other I am not sure (I think it might be the one Flyerman mentioned being related to the previous TrueTemper).

Since you seem to be on top of this stuff, let me just ask you.

Here is what I want from Sherwood. Custom curve made from a mold I have, 80 flex, rounded corners on the shaft, preferably smaller dimensions than the retail T90. What would be the order that I would put in for that.

I think you would have to order the T90 Pros to get that smaller, rounded shaft. Apparently they offer square and rounded shaft dimensions in the T90 Pros, but I was not given this as an option for my T90 Pro replacements. They told me I was getting a square shaft, but smaller than my SOPs. Min order is 12 on the Pros if you go with a custom curve.

When I ordered my SOPs, I was not given a choice on the shaft dimensions. Mine came with the boxy square shaft, but they are not as big as the T90 retails. I got used to them in no time.

Flex options are 75/85/95/105. If you prefer an 80 Flex, I suggest going with a 75 as these are long 62" sticks.

Sherwood's SOP/Pro Dept. (1-800-563-2202, ask for SOP/Pro Dept) should be able to answer all of your questions so you'll know exactly what you need to order through your Sherwood dealer. I believe Claude is the SOP guy. Mario is the Warranty guy (not the SOP guy....my mistake).

After reading some of the posts in this thread, I'm considering ordering a 3 pack of SOPs. Does anyone know how much per stick this costs? I don't know if maybe I missed post explaining a cost breakdown but I can't seem to find any posts in here where price is listed.

Slim fit is about the size of an INT, it felt a bit smaller than an Easton INT in my hands.

NICE. You said these should already be hitting stores?

Approximately $189 per stick depending upon the retailer, through whom you MUST go to order theses sticks. Sherwood told me there is a five week lag time on SOP/Pro sticks, probably 2 weeks longer if you get a custom curve made from a mold.

Yeah, I went to Peranis to have my skates sharpened yesterday and while I was looking around, I noticed they had retail T90's. I asked one of my friends who works there about ordering SOPs of the T90 and he told me it was $175 per stick with a 6 week wait on average for a custom pattern (3 weeks once they have your pattern saved).

I grabbed one off the shelf (whatever their Drury clone is) and was messing around with it a little bit. For a stick that was going for $139.99 CDN, it felt really good in the hands. I may seriously look into purchasing one or ordering some customs when my Eaves S19s have run their course (crossing my fingers that if they break they break on the shaft so I can salvage the blade for a reference pattern).

Can someone clarify the patterns for me...

They have the PP88LS @ 1/2" Regular Curve with a 6 lie and PP12IG @ 1/2" Regular with a 6.5 lie... I know the Easton Iginla is around a 5.5. Are these curves the same just different lies? If someone could post a picture that would be great.

there's a comparison pic on pg. 35 of the catalog.

So, my order of 3 T90 Pros came in today. Probably won't get to play with them for a little while, but a couple observations from handling them a bit:

1. They feel lighter and better balanced than the regular T90 retails, but not dramatically lighter (balance I think will be noticeable during play). I should get a chance to compare them to the T90 SOPs in the next few weeks.

2. The 75 flex I got feels more flexible than the 70 whip flex R8s I had been using - I don't have any SWD 75 flex retails to compare these to, but if I had to guess I would say the retail sticks are stiffer (as others have noted).

3. I opted to go with the shaft that has all four sides concave (the import shaft). I was advised that this would feel very similar to the construction of the stock R8 shaft - it does.

Once I get the chance I will post some pics and observation from actual use as a few people PM'ed me asking about them. I'm really curious to see how the IQ blade performs.

I just broke my Total One and I'm tired of dropping over $200 on sticks, so I'm considering ordering a T90 online. When people say that the shaft is boxy and large, exactly how big are we talking? What other sticks would you compare it to?

2010 T90 prices now are insane. I'd grab one but I've still got too many sticks as it is. Is the blade nearly identical to the R8 in terms of feel or is that a nasty rumor?

I think the R8 and T90 blades feel quite different. The R8 blades are more pingy to me.

I thought I would share....

I just got my new custom T90 pro tapered blades yesterday. These are comparison pictures from the original sample and the final product I received. I am pretty happy with the way they feel and play, but they aren't exactly a direct copy of what I sent in. The profile shape is slightly different (see the toe shape) and the curve has less of a kink and is more gradual than the sample. The reason they aren't exact is Sherwood uses a bladder mold.

The feel of these is really nice. These are the IQ style blade. They don't feel exactly like the old TPS blades, but pretty darn close.

PS. Sorry for the pic size, but photobucket is being screwy

I'm not one to get excited about stick aesthetics, but I like that Undercover T90. Too bad it only seems available in the Statsny curve.
