Bauer Supreme TotalONE

Also, he probably ordered more skates than all of you guys combined, so there's a greater chance he'd see problems.

I'm in Toronto....he's in Toronto.

He has more pairs than anyone.....I need to buy some ASAP as I have no pairs.

I'm liking this PMurphy more and more by the second.

Obviously there are always problems.

I trust pmurphy17's judgement. Also, he probably ordered more skates than all of you guys combined, so there's a greater chance he'd see problems.

JR thanks for back up. I'm not hating when I say that Bauer has taken back skates after seeing them. Likely a few more that could go back. Not fun losing 8 and 8.5 for your stock 2 days before a launch. Sending back more than some stores but is nothing to brag about but it is the reality.

The truth is the Mod Squad is place to get the best info first. I shared relevant info that likely had other retailers checking every box of Total One's just to make sure they were good.

Never heard of major QC issues from bauer.

There were a ton of problems with Vapor XX and XV skates when they came out. It was almost as bad as Graf.

Ouch, nothing like being out of popular sizes on day one. Hopefully they get you replacement stock soon.

Can't wait to leave the office tomorrow to get these babies baked. I work part time at a hockey store so I have a pair set aside for me already. When I tried them on last week they felt like slippers right out of the box. I can only imagine what they will feel like after I cook'em and get a skate in.

Out of 'Creeper' Status

same here for not being able to wait. I'm going in early just so I am leave early to get them!

Had my first hands on with the skates when they showed up at the store today, very impressed, i had 8EE One95s and found the 8D TotalOnes felt almost as wide as them, I ordered a pair of 7.5EE immediately since this store won't order wides other than special orders.

I really can't wait.

so I don't get anymore comments, ordered 7.5 because I felt the 8s in my One95s were a touch too big lengthwise. 7s in TO were too short just by a bit, 7.5 will be perfect.

That makes no sense. You said 8D felt the same width wise as your 8EE, so your getting 7.5EE?? Enjoy a too short skate. Wont be much, but enough that you might regret it.

Aside from the fact I though the 8 was too long, so I went down a half size...

Got my pair today. Somewhat angry they won't make jr sizes because a 5.5 EE total 100 fitted fine. Anyways the price is ridiculous if you ask me...thank god I live at home and have a semi decent job haha.

If I recall correctly, earlier in the thread when Darkstar was suggesting to invest in more than one insert gain more life out of them and prevent them from creasing, JR said the same result can happen if you turn the insert upside down and let the laces hold it down.

Could you buy the reflex insert and lay it down on top of another tongue to get the same "spring"? Would the laces hold it down? Is this a good idea or not?

Not sure if its been mentioned before but find it very strange that the European model isn't coming with the Fusion steel. Just had conformation from the UK supplier that they will be coming with Lightspeed 2.1 steel. Very odd indeed

OT: but any idea if the UK will be getting the one100 one80 or one70??

Thanks.

Bauer is at my local rink today for the on-ice demo. I'm heading over later to try the skates out, and possibly the X:60 gloves (I don't know yet, as I love my 4-Rolls too much). Let's see if they're worth the $800 price tag.

Well, picked them up, molded them, and got in on drop in last night. Aside from kicking myself for not putting in a heel lift when I bought them I was definitely very, very pleased with how they felt. Molded nicely, just like the one95's, and the pressure points I felt before molding were instantly gone.

Couple things I noticed right away:

They are significantly lighter.

I used the stiff inserts (they heated the skates with mid inserts in, creasing them) and was blown away and how much extra snap you get in your stride. When Bauer talks about making your first step faster they definitely mean it. I really felt that any time I normally needed to accelerate was instantly diminished and I was hitting higher speeds much faster. Also felt much more power in my stride as each push felt like I was getting more out of it. I might try they X-Stiff's on the weekend, but I'm still not quite sure how I'll know which one is best.

I won't say fatigue is a non issue, but I found myself getting one-two more rushes out of each shift, and by the end of the ice time I found I could still go for a good skate without feeling exhausted.

I believe Darkstar said in his review that as a D-man you'll find yourself rushing up into the play more. I think I put us offside at least twice last night because I was beating my forwards to the far blue line.

The liner was dry within 8 hours of a 2 hour ice time, and wasn't really that wet when I took them off.

All in all, for those who question the minimal performance advantage you're going to get from these skates I'd like to say that I felt it was actually a pretty significant one. Yes the price is up there, but they are far and away the lightest most responsive skate I've ever worn.

Are the inserts supposed to be in place during the heat molding process?

No, but I didn't find this out until after. Bauer includes a tri-fold case that holds all the inserts that you can throw in you bag (kind of nice actually) and it has a slip in it that shows how to change your inserts. It also says at the bottom that you must remove the inserts before heating.

When I heated them I asked the guy doing it if we should remove them and he said no, they stay in. He then asked a co worker and he said the same thing. Not a huge deal as I didn't think I was going to use the Mid's anyway, but had I put the Stiff's in before hand I would have been a little upset.

Well, happy to hear you wouldn't probably be using the mid insert anyway. At least now folks here will know to have them removed when baking.

Granted I used them one time, and I've been strictly playing roller hockey, and my last skates were Supreme 70's, I didn't see what makes these cost 800 bucks. That's my opinion on them

Chippa - he did the Bauer demo.

Regardless, and this can go in ANY direction (like/dislike) - that's why we require such a long skating period before we allow reviews.

Like I said in mine, I loved them out of the box, dumped them after one shift, and then figured out what worked for me.
