Easton EQ50 Stick

Recommended Posts

It was around this time last year we began to hear about the Stealth S19. Easton has been phasing out the Synergy SE16 (at least sticks with those graphics) at the NHL level since the calendar turned. Anyone heard anything about the new Synergy? Will it use the new EQ branding? By the way, anyone know what EQ stands for?

Sorry if I missed information from a previous post (I did use search).

Stateline Sports posted that an EQ50 stick would be available in October. It also posted something about the stick being a "control freak."

That's putting it mildly.

Its awesome. Very impressive tech from Easton.

I can't find anything more than the Stateline Sports Facebook post and this thread here. What information is out there on the stick?

Really? EQ50? Not EQ5 like the rest of the new EQ line? I find this strange!

Also just found this on GreatSkate: "Some, like the Bauer TotalONE Composite Hockey Stick and the Easton EQ50 Composite Hockey Stick, include rubber in their construction to help reduce the vibrations that pass through composite material."

I realize this isn't very helpful, but I figured i'd add something.

That's pretty funky, now I don't know if I should stock up on One95s or wait for the newer stuff.

I'd stock up, especially if you found one that worked for you

Yeah but I have to choose for those two that I showed you...

Either curve or flex,

Either One95 or possible X:60 repaint.

I figured the people in the know would have probably already been quite familiar with this stick. For the rest of us though, it's fun to speculate. Hopefully this "control freak" bit means that the already good balance and feel of the SE16 have somehow been improved.

Yes, among other design features, the Eq50 will have a special customizable weight balance end plug where the stick can be balanced by adding/removing weights. So for example if you cut off six inches, you can then re-balance the stick using the end plug.

If I'm not mistaken, it's "EQualizer." Can't say for certain, though; I'm reaching into the recesses of my brain for information that I heard ages ago.

The end plug idea is really interesting. I know the SE16 concentrated weight at the top of the shaft, but I was never sure if I was missing up the balance by cutting the stick down. Wonder if the pros will use it, or they'll stick with their wood end plugs.

In the training we got on this stick, they specifically say they had the pro's test it and used their feedback in development. Not sure if any are using it now. The EQ50 also has weights in the heel but these are not adjustable.

EQ stands for "equilibrium".

Easton Hockey on the EQ5 gloves.....

"The Synergy® EQ5 glove was designed to allow form and function to operate in an optimal state of equilibrium."

I guess everything makes sense now?? Or are you still looking forward to the SE sticks coming out this fall.

Someday I'm going to have to actually try an Easton OPS.

Any word if the end plugs will be sold separately? Would be fun to try out.
