My EQ50!

Recommended Posts

the visible weight in the heel of the blade is such a gimmick, it is the exact same thing as the SE16, the only differnce is that they are visible, and the only real tech difference between the 2 is the end cap, which i ended up taking from my friends as he put in a plug and it works just as well as the eq50, no difference in performance, i also have a wooden plug in my other se16 and it also makes ths stick feel the exact same

I have nothing but good things to say about the SE16 it was my favourite stick before. I like what Easton is doing playing with weight distribution. Both the SE16 and EQ50 are great sticks for feel.

Easton didn't really play with it. They just added a wood plug in the end at retail... essentially. The SE16 already had the blade weights, and putting a wooden plug into the end achieved the same thing as a weighted butt end cap.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they added weight to both ends of the SE16 as well, in the EQ50 they simple added more and made the end cap thingy instead of having it built in. IF the window thing in the blade of the EQ50 holds I would take the EQ50 over the SE16 because of the extra weight in the blade. The weight in the blade really effects the puck when taking hard passes. Things like taking a hard pass with one hand on the stick become easier etc.

I just hope the stick holds up...

From Easton's website:

"Easton’s next generation Synergy® features Focus Weight TechnologyTM not only in the blade to provide an incredible feel for handling the puck but also in the shaft to counter balance the stick for added control. With our Synergy® construction the SE16 is the ultimate combination of feel, control and power."

So it's in the blade AND shaft.

...had the new EQ50 ( next season's ) in my hands yesterday ...and it does not have weight in the blade nor in the shaft anymore !!

I'd like to see Easton aggressively pursue better materials, similar to how Bauer started using Textreme carbon. Other than that, I doubt they mess with the Synergy in the future.

Why should they? They're getting the best available carbon out there.

Do tell. Holiday release?

...dunno ..over here in europe there's nothing like a holiday release or a holiday catalogue ......it was just that the rep had all the new top of the line ( S19,EQ50and ST) sticks with all next season in europe available curves coming in .....

The S19 is getting replaced by the RS so the EQ50 will be sticking around for another year.

I'm using it with the EQ50 blade. I like it. I think I still like my tapered one95s better but it's sure moved ahead of my dolomite, 8k and harrow two pieces.

noticed EQ50 taper shafts are out now. Just repainted SE16??

In theory and tapered design, yes. But the EQ50 shaft has the same much more squared shaft shape as the OPS version whereas the SE16 shaft and OPS were slightly rounded.

Has anyone found the best method for getting the window to stay in? The damn thing fell out for the 2nd time. Gorilla glue? 5 minute epoxy?

Thanks

Its doing just fine! My other eq50 blade snapped, but that was after 9 months of heavy use. Still love my eq50
