Another new hockey stick company.....

Recommended Posts

How many of these companies selling the same stick are we going to have?

Which stick is that? From their website it sounds like they are making their own sticks, kevlar reinforced, not like many of the chinese clones on the market. Still, I see nothing wrong with someone wanting to get into the market with a product. It will have it's niche. If truly the price is low, then it could be a good deal. Too bad people want to only support the big guys whose sticks are made overseas. I'd much rather give my money to a North American built company, for example like Miken, Not to turn this thread into a political statement, but we have lost so many manufacturing jobs it's ridiculous.

How many can afford the minimum quantity order from the factory?

maybe they should have more than one flex and 2 blade patterns before launching their business. i bet they all come from the same factories or at least the same technology. I am sticking with base.

Yeah that's a good point. I'd be fine with a 90 flex but a choice of 2 curves... it's pretty pointless to try to sell high end sticks with basically no options

75% of all sticks sold are Modano or Sakic style blades, why have options that most people aren't going to buy? 90 flex also puts them between 85 and 100, not that far off the two most commonly used senior flexes. If you are coming to market with one stick in one flex with two curves, they've positioned it to appeal to the largest number of people.

So an American built company bringing in sticks from China is good with you? At least Miken is trying the Made in USA model.

No if this company is simply importing chinese sticks, then no, I don't support them. Is this the case?

On their website it says "The dekree Collection is Proudly Designed in Canada," but says nothing about where they're made, so China is a pretty safe bet. Also, they say their Modano clone has a "very open face" while their Sakic clone has only a "slightly open face," I'm guessing they got the two confused, but if I can pick that out in 20 seconds looking at their site you wonder how much they know about hockey?

However, the sticks definitely look great, love the minimalist design (aesthetically). And if they're made of nothing but a 12K weave carbon with a kevlar wrap they probably perform well, though who knows until you actually try them.

i'm sure the only thing "designed" in canada is the graphics on the stick

I happened to meet the owner of the company at my lhs a few weeks ago. He seemed like a nice guy and we chatted a bit about the new product while waiting to get my skates sharpened.

The fit and finish is high quality. The stick also seemed fairly well balanced, though I never had a chance to actually test it out.

However, the $189.00 CDN price tag did seem a little high when there were cheaper prostock 0ne95's beside them in the same stick rack.

Agreed. While there are differences between this stick and others put into the market, the average (I'm going to use this term candidly) consumer will all see the same thing: A simple black carbon-weave hockey stick all over $100 and all weighing sub 500g. They probably won't be able to tell much difference between a BASE, Miken, Dekree, or hell; even Combat for those used to Bauer and Easton in all of their LHS'. That's why I like Warrior's approach: attack their (target) market(s) with shock and awe, hold it and expand it.
