My son and I play hockey, while my husband and daughter play Ultimate frisbee, so I'm finding this totally amusing. :)

As an activity for adults, it is what it is. Not much different from those dodgeball and flag football leagues you see popping up everywhere these days. You know if it gets more people regular exercise I'm all for it. I don't personally see the appeal, but there are people that don't like things I do so it's all just subjective anyway. The notion this is ever going to become a serious or competitive sport is nuts. From a rink owner's perspective though I think this might be a good way to have a unique recreational offering on the ice that isn't beer league hockey or skating in an oval for 2 hours.

Guys without gloves reaching down to the ice to pick up a frisbee, this should be interesting.

As someone who played some Ultimate Frisbee in college, it seems like they should combine those rules to make it more challenging and authentic. Like you can't just skate down the ice with the disc, you have to stop as quickly as possible when you receive it. Then you have 10 seconds max to get rid of it. This would force the stop and go element so guys really have to work hard. If you make a pass on the fly, you must do so within two strides (immediately). Get rid of the goals and use the area behind the goal lines as the end zones where you have to pass the disc to a teammate to score. Allow body contact in the endzones (like checking a guy while he receives a pass) and that would really make it interesting. The way it's set up right now is rather ridiculous to me.

As much as I despise this whole idea of a game, I was thinking the same thing with the stopping and starting...

Exactly, treat it the same as broomball. Seems like a great way for rinks to fill up some unused late night time and for Student organizations on a campus to have a unique and fun fundraiser.

Man, we played that 10 yrs ago at my rink - the employees would do it when the rink was closed. We just called it Ultimate Frisbee On Ice; no skates so made it harder.

Even had teams...I was on the Orlando Orangs (logo was an orangutan throwing a frisbee)

I demand royalties.

That was so funny when he said that...

A slavery joke? Thats some highbrow stuff

Drew's sticks were left off the plane when he flew in for Winterfest. One of the sticks he had was a Mission Fuel. His sticks were delivered a couple of hours before the game. That's where it all came from.

Gotcha. I was sure the comment wasn't malicious. It just caught me off guard a little not knowing the back story.

Back on topic - I REALLY don't think 'Frocky' is going to go mainstream like that guy is hoping.
