They look like a piece of plastic you could by for halloween if you wanted to be a gladiator...Last year's model looks like it did really well in the pro ranks and high levels of minor hockey. I personally love mine, I don't feel like I'm wearing anything at all.

Edit: Thanks for the vid Chadd

Not a gear sighting, but Easton just posted on their Twitter feed that 23.3% of all the sticks being used in the NHL are RS's...Wonder if that number is entirely accurate, but even if it's close, it's pretty damn impressive. When you consider the other 80% has to be comprised of S19s, EQ50s, SE16s, TotalOnes, APXs, X:60s, Widows, Dolomites, AK27's, U+ CLs, 11Ks, Ai9s and Nexons..

New ccm shoulders look like if robocop rode moto cross

shudder to think what the rest of their protective line looks like.

already have a hard time moving their products, this isn't going to make it any easier

At the end of the day a lot of people will say "Hey that's what the pros are using, can't be that bad" and the gear will sell.

they are the lightest and least restrictive top-level shoulders I have seen and everyone has good new shoulders for next year.

OK, I'll reserve final judgement until I see them in person but you can have the lightest, least restrictive pad and it still won't move if it doesn't attract the customer's attention

some products sell themselves, some products require a salesman. The only stuff that sells itself now is Bauer, regardless of quality.

Exactly. One80 series is god-tier in terms of self-sellability. Kids don't care about price, fit, whatever, they love how it looks. And it says Bauer. Easy sale.

However a lot of kids always ask "What one is lighter?" When the answer next year is going to be the CL, it will sell. Haven't seen the pads yet but from what I've been told, they blow the TotalONE shoulder pads out of the water weight wise.. not even close. Can't wait to try them on.

Agreed as well. The X:40 series of everything (Stick, protective AND skates) is in the exact same category and pricepoint; they sell well too. And coming from the U+ Pros, I'm in the same boat as you are.

The trend in terms of protective fit that I've started to notice is that customers tend to want more of the lighter and slimmer fitting stuff as opposed to the bulkier gear of years past.

The Warrior and Easton shoulders are nice for next year too, I just love what CCM came up with. I just wish the elbows and shins were a little better suited to my likes.

Where have you seen the Easton and Warrior shoulders?
